All in a Day’s Work + Under $600 bags

I am totally worn out. Never thought in my dreams that it would come to this– that I would happily crawl right to bed, dirty clothes and all. And yet I did *eeewww*.

So now I’m awake and taking a breather from work to answer your questions. I’ve been asked, “what’s Imelda Marcos like, what are the accessories like, how much will they cost, and where can we buy them” etc., (please hags, please please make sure you leave your initials/ nickname) . Today, I will attempt to answer a few of your questions.

The launch happens on November 18, Saturday. Invitations have already been sent out. Peeps who got their invitations, please RSVP and also make sure to bring the “invite” to the event. They are imposing a “no-invitation no- entry” policy just to keep the crowds at bay so there won’t be any “elbowing” (which tends to happen unintentionally if the venue becomes too crowded). *I don’t have an invitation myself (they ran out already!)– who knows, maybe they won’t let me in hahaha tsk* Anyway, the premiere collection will be for sale on the event itself. But no worries, interested buyers can also purchase pieces after the event. The Imelda Collection will be available for viewing/ purchase by-appointment. I will post the buying information here soon 🙂 By the way, prices are reasonable– starting from about Php 1,000 up.

Today was spent sitting in on more press interviews: KG of Financial Times interviewed Mrs.M in the morning. Later in the afternoon, there were two back-to-back interviews for GMA7 by JS and VM. More interviews with the media in the next few days, so more work to do. It’s tough, but I am loving it because these peeps have been real easy to work with.

What’s Mrs.M like? (Let’s just keep the discussion about her character. Remember, no political talk here) She is witty, intelligent, and very, very charming (to the 10th degree). She even charmed Mao Tse- tung! She always likes to keep a positive outlook on life. Even when she gets “attacked” by the press, she can still be so dignified and keep her cool. Meanwhile if that were us, we’d probably be retorting angrily (Tsk, so uncouth :D) I should take a page out of Mrs.M’s book because I always act like I had no education whatsoever. I can be so barbaric *hello, Mrs.T= girl from the trailer park!* but hey, I’m learning 🙂 *baby steps*

Mrs.M has all these wonderful anecdotes and can tell amazing stories about great people she’s met. I think it’s hard to tear oneself away from her stories. She has a way of making people stay for hours (like the lunch we had a few days ago with my former colleagues who flew in to interview her) and just give her their undivided attention. Now that’s what I call commanding presence.

I’ll write a story about her sometime soon. Something more detailed and more personal. Meanwhile, enough talk about work. I know you’re all getting rather upset that I don’t talk bags anymore. So here’s a little something I checked out for you 🙂

Andrew Marc large Sophie sunflower satchel. Those braided pull tabs on the zippers are kinda cute. The leather on the bag looks real supple too. Oh how I wish I can touch this bag up close. I wouldn’t mind getting this bag for Christmas :). If you have US$595 and are looking for a bright bag to use for Spring 2007, this might be for you. It’s very Celine meets Botkier. Available at Neiman Marcus.

Hello Cole Haan. At US$425, I am liking this bag if it were not black! Again, the belt factor and the exterior pockets make it good. And a plus is the shoulder strap! Perfect to schlep around when you’re with the kids :D. This bag is also available at NeimanMarcus.com

Time to say good night now. I’m sorta done with my job for the night. Tomorrow is a long day. I am also moonlighting as a courier by the way 😀 *Times are hard haha*

P.S. Hugs to CAC— hope your baby gets well too. It’s so draining for us to see our kids sick 🙁 And thanks again for your words, shampoohag 🙂 See you soon!!

xo

  1. Mrs. T:

May I suggest that you put tags/topic index in your entries for an easier search. I was searching for your entries on Singapore and Hong Kong since I’ll be going there soon, and it was kinda hard to look for the entries.

Thanks! Love your blog! I visit it everyday. 😀

  2. Mrs. T I have a question =) Are you in charge of the whole event? What bag are you carrying for the event? May I know who is attending the party? It sounds like a fun thing! Wish I was also working for the event because it sounds so much fun =)

  3. We came across your blog while searching for Imelda Marcos. Your past entries have most certainly been an interesting read. Along the same lines, I’d also like to share or ask the following:

    1. What is IMELDA’s actual height?

    2. It is not difficult to deduce from all the stories that Imelda is a media darling. But what is she like when the camera lights are off?

    2. I beg to differ on your opinion of her. When it comes to controversial coverage about her, she can also retaliate but in a very subtle way. Even statesmen can’t refute without sounding immediately defensive or pardon the French, idiotic. She does it with so much style.

    3. We really enjoy the photos you shared. Would love to see more. Are you with her daily?

Thank you for indulging us and sharing your insights on one of the last remaining living icons of our time, negative or positive an icon she may be. My colleagues and I are enjoying your reportage as this all unfolds.

One last thing, we are however quite concerned about how you denigrate yourself.. perhaps lack of humour on our part might answer our own boggle? You are or were a news journalist too, yes?

  4. After watching all these political families fight and talk to the media, I just thought, none of the Marcoses acted that way when they were ousted from power. Talk about breeding, they have it! (from RR)

  5. jen: great suggestion but i have no idea how!! Help!

poochie: errr.. no way would i want to be in charge of the event. that’s just plain impossible to manage! We had only originally planned to invite 350 people and now it’s bordering on 600 (which means perhaps an additional 200 will pop over). who’s attending the party? wait and see 😀 what bag will i carry? Ahh the million dollar question! Alas, i don’t have the answer for that yet 🙁

M.vanderbroek: Wait wait, are you a news producer from Sky News in London? For what show? And yes, my background is in news, not fashion. My former colleagues are now with CNN (one of them is now the host of a show and will come down to interview Mrs.M *yay!*), Al Jazeera, BBC. They’re all over these international networks. They’ve all moved up in the “serious news” industry. Meanwhile all I have is my blog, and I write fluffy articles. And in reality, I am jobless! 😀 *but happy!*

Anyway, Long post you have there 😀 So here are the answers:

    1. Imelda is 5’7″ if I’m correct. She is always wearing heels.
    2. Imelda is a pretty funny lady. As I had mentioned earlier, she can tell you all these great stories which will leave you amazed and well, awestruck. She is really a very generous and kind woman. She jokes around too and is very jovial. Very approachable!
    3. Well, I’ve never really heard her say anything bad about anyone. Maybe you are right in one aspect. She would defend her family, but she won’t cross the line and “lose it”, that’s why she earns the respect of many people despite all that’s happened. She kept her dignity intact.
    4. I’m not with her every day– more like every other day because of the press interviews. I’m present in almost all of them 🙂 I’m so amazed that she’s got the strength for all those interviews. It would’ve been a struggle for me to do what she does.
    5. You raised a very funny “concern”!! It really made me laugh so hard!! (Your comment made me sound like a runaway lunatic haha). As far as self-deprecation goes, I actually like the fact that I can poke fun at myself. It’s ok to look like a buffoon sometimes because you can make people laugh 🙂 And I don’t even mind if people do tell me I look or am silly/ugly/unfashionable/gross, because at the end of the day, I know myself better than anyone else and I’m secure about myself. I sleep well at night *with or without Nyquil haha* 🙂 So, don’t worry, it’s not your lack of humor. Many don’t understand why I am so hard on myself– but it’s all in good fun and for few a good laughs 🙂 Shallow? That would be ME! 🙂

RR: I totally agree with you. Know what they say, “lose it and you’re the loser”. They’ve never lost their composure, and I don’t even recall hearing them lashing out during that time. That made them winners in the end. Very admirable.
