All About Roger Vivier for Fall/ Winter 2011- 2012

Before my love for bags, there was my love for shoes.  And then I got pregnant, and my feet expanded.  And most of my shoes could no longer fit 🙁  So I stopped liking shoes and turned the attention to bags. But now, that love for shoes is back once again. Side by side with bags *oh boy, lethal combination!*
I have 2 pairs of vintage Roger Vivier shoes, courtesy of my mom. They still look fabulous and though I would love to wear them out, I feel I should only do so on extremely special occasions. Vivier is credited as having created the virgule heel (the comma heel), and is also credited for the stiletto heel. He also made the coronation shoes of Queen Elizabeth! Now, if you love shoes, you need to know about the shoes of Roger Vivier 🙂

There may be a lot of shoe designers now, but one of the more relevant ones in the industry include the brand, Roger Vivier. Credit for the brand’s revival goes to Ines dela Fressange, a gorgeous woman (a.k.a. THE Chanel muse and the face of France in the late 80s) I had the pleasure of meeting!

I love Ines!!
During Paris Fashion Week, I went to the Vivier showroom. Creative director Bruno Frisoni took me around personally to introduce each piece in the collection for Fall/Winter 2011-2012.
He’s a genius!
Almost a week later, these pieces are still on my mind:
The Roger Vivier Palace Pump.
So luxurious! And that heel is really something else!
Would you look at the 10cm ice- pick heel on that? Crafted by Vivier’s creative director Bruno Frisoni and named “Palace” after the legendary Parisian night club Le Palace, this shoe is for that strong and sexy woman who moves seamlessly from an uptown lunch to a downtown night of fun and glamour! *Ok, I wanna be that woman!*.
Color blocking is the trend now, and these pumps hit the right note– for sure they will be easy to wear with just about anything!
Spice up an otherwise conservative business suit with these pumps!

The Vivier Nonsense clutch is the perfect topper for that ultra- sleek look that will take you from day to night! I love the matte crocodile version of the Nonsense clutch. It’s so clean and is trés chic!

If the heels are not something you’d want to wear throughout the afternoon (I would though, because Vivier heels are comfortable– and I can personally attest to that, having worn them over a long period of time), you might want to go for the flats:
I’d pick the “Bad Penny” studded mocassins which have that “bad girl” vibe.  Play up those shoes with a more masculine outfit 🙂 *a look I’m also loving right now*.  And these flat perforated d’orsays with the signature Vivier buckle just look so comfortable!
For a night out of fun, I recommend these heels.
Rose with thorns but oh- so- comfortable
I have the exact same style of these shoes (I have the tartan rose), and I have to share that while these heels are sky high, they are extremely comfortable– so comfortable that I can actually run in them!
I also cannot not post about this black crow feather clutch. I do wish they “blinged- up” the signature buckle though. It would’ve glammed the clutch up by a few notches! But I still love it! It’s all about adding textures to your look. This is that perfect addition!

And this perforated edge “prismick” clutch (reminiscent of facets of a cut stone) in suede is quite unique– I like the colors on this– how the red peeks from under the perforations.

Evening bags! Look closely at the paillettes of that classic Miss Viv clutch on the lower left– the paillettes are shaped in the form of hearts!

And for day bags, this suede hobo with a rolled suede strap, the signature buckle and flap pocket looks easy to carry. I can actually imagine carrying this bag as a large clutch too– I’d fold over the top of the bag to the back and carry it with the strap rolled around my wrist.
Perforated edges draw inspiration from the English Lords’ footwear!
Before I left the showroom, Bruno and Ines posed for me 🙂 I love them both– they’re so playful, so genuine, and it’s easy to see why the brand is doing well– it’s because they both work so well together!

I can’t wait for some of the pieces to hit the Roger Vivier boutique in Hong Kong (at The Landmark). For a store near you or for more information on Roger Vivier, visit www.rogervivier.com .
