A Hermes bag auction for a GOOD CAUSE!

A BAG FOR A GOOD CAUSE

I have decided. I am auctioning off my own Hermes Victoria Bag for the benefit of Fabella Hospital. (Originally thought of another bag, but decided on the Hermes since it has more value and would raise more for the beneficiary)

A little 4-1-1 on this Hermes Victoria: The bag is made of dove gray clemence leather (it’s called Gris Tourterelle in French), comes with the Hermes lock with 2 keys in their clochette, and also comes with a little gray “luggage” tag. This east-west (rectangular) bag has 2 zippers that meet in the middle when closed. The interior lining is made of herringbone fabric, and has compartmentalized pockets for you to put your phone, keys, etc. The bag is very light and makes a perfect everyday bag. The bag has a K blindstamp, having been made in 2007.

I would rate the bag at 8.5 to 9 out of a perfect 10. It was lovingly and carefully used by moi 😉 I love, love this bag, because of its quality, form, and functionality. After all, it’s an Hermes 🙂 And we all know Hermes makes really good bags 🙂

The Hermes Gris Tourterelle Victoria will come to you with an Hermes dustbag, lock, 2 keys, and the bag “tag”.
Retail price of a brand new Hermes Victoria is already well above Php 200,000!!!

Now, for more information about Fabella Hospital– Fabella was actually recently in the news, when a mother gave birth to a baby girl(s) with the “dicephaly monozygotic conjoined birth condition” 🙁 *I wonder what happened to the little girls :(*

Anyway, click on Wikipedia for more info on Fabella. One particular sentence on Wikipedia stood out– “The hospital is considered as a ‘baby factory’ as 20 percent of all babies in Metro Manila are born here. As of 2003, it has an average of 88 daily live births.” Imagine how limited space is at the hospital. I was told there are sometimes 3 babies sharing one “crib”. *Sigh*… It’s really unfathomable.

While I don’t live that kind of a “privileged” life like other people in society, I do know that I am privileged to be alive, to be blogging here today. Everyday is a blessing, a gift (and oftentimes we forget this!) And we are so privileged to have been given opportunities to make our lives more fruitful and productive (even if we find ourselves struggling at times). There are always people who will need our help. I hope that with those thoughts, we can all do our little part and help out those who are not as fortunate. I don’t have anything against women buying all the bags they want, or buying all the jewelry they can afford– after all, it’s their money. But I do hope that they also can pay it forward– even if just a teeny tiny bit. 🙂 A little bit of your help can make a big impact on someone else’s life.

I’ve personally never been to Fabella yet, (I will soon– I’m volunteering for Moms for Moms with friends Tina of Ilaya Couture, and my sister inlaw). I am really hoping that we can all help the moms and babies at Fabella through this auction.

So now, here are the auction details.

I thought of doing an online auction but then I was really daunted by possible non-paying bidders (I know there are lots of “bogus” bids and I don’t want that to happen). So, auction will be held in-store at ACCESSORY LAB.

It will be a Silent auction (because I can’t possibly be an auctioneer– haha I don’t have the know-how). There will be auction slips on beside the bag, where people interested to bid can place the best price they’d like to pay for the bag. On the slip, you will be required to write your full name, address, landline, and mobile number. You will also be required to note the time and date of your bid (in case there is more than 1 bid of the same highest amount, the earlier bid wins). You need to complete all the information on the bidding slip.

After you have filled out the bidding slip, you will drop it in our little box. The opening bid for the bag is only Php 100!! Of course you can bid that amount, but for sure you’ll be easily outbid 😉 *This is a possible scenario: if no one bids with an amount higher than Php 200, the BAG goes to the bidder who had placed the Php 200 bid! Imagine, getting an Hermes bag for Php 200 (US$ 4.50) !! ;)*

The auction will last seven (7) days– and it will commence on AUGUST 10, 2009, Monday, when doors of the Power Plant Mall open for business for the day. The auction will end on AUGUST 16, 2009, Sunday, at 9:00pm (Mall closing). The person whose slip containing the Highest bid wins the bag. He/She will be contacted on Monday to arrange payment. Now, it’s up to the winning bidder if he/she wants to be “recognized” as the winner. Of course, I’ll only be too happy to announce who won, but if winner expresses the wish to be anonymous, I shall respect that as well. 🙂

Think of bidding on the bag as your contribution to Fabella, with the bag being a consolation prize, a token of appreciation for your help. Many children will benefit from this. Please spread me in spreading the word.

Silent Auction venue:
ACCESSORY LAB Address: 2nd Floor (R2) Rockwell Power Plant Mall, Makati City. Tel (632) 890-9011.

Auction duration: August 10, 2009 – August 16, 2009 (9:00PM)

Starting bid:
Php 100 (one hundred pesos) only– for an HERMES bag!!! You can’t bid any amount lower than Php 100.

Auction tip:
Make sure you indicate the highest price you’re willing to pay for the bag on the bidding slip. 🙂

Payment terms:
Full payment within 7 days of auction close. We will accept cash or credit card payment for the payment of this bag! (If you have HSBC or Metrobank card, you can even avail of the 0% interest, 3 months to pay scheme! I’m trying to make this a little easier for bidders)

Cecile has also pledged her help for this fundraising event! The winner (and 1 companion) will also be treated to a meal in her fast food place.

The winning bidder will also be receiving a gift from KABOOST, compliments of Dexter Sy 🙂 Thanks so much, Dexter!!

New Mommy Daphne Oseña Paez is also pledging her support for our Fabella Fundraiser, stay tuned!

And before I forget to say this, THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP AND YOUR PARTICIPATION!!

P.S. I hope I have covered all the mechanics for this auction. 🙂 I’m going crazy thinking of how to work the auction out in the past few days 🙂 Hope this all works out 🙂 GOOD LUCK peeps!!!!

  1. hi mrs t. I’m glad you chose fabella. My sis “interned” for that hospital and said the newborn babies shared a crib, sometimes 3 to 4 kids in a newborn nursery bassinet! God bless your heart for doing this and for parting with a loved bag for a good cause.

  2. What a wonderful thing you’re doing for Fabella! Really such a great idea. Will help spread the word.

    -Iya

  3. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to have a guy tote that beautiful bag. It looks just as anything “straight” a man’s flat bag could be. I love that it’s very austere looking, plain and functional. But I might have to change gender bender Victoria to Victor….what do you think Mrs. T? BTW Kudos!

  4. Thank you people, I’m just doing a little part here. I’m not swimming in cash or all that (or I would’ve given away bags! And auctioned off a birkin!!), but I just want to help. I can relate so much more to moms out there who need help with their babies, now that I am a parent. Instead of having dinners out and gabfests with friends, I just chose to do something different. I used to be “ALL TALK” about helping others. Now I’m really doing something about it. It’s high time I did.

  5. LOL @ “Victor” bag instead of “Victoria” bag. That’s so clever 😉

Iya: Thank you for spreading the word 🙂 Need all the help!

Anon re: Fabella– I haven’t even been to Fabella but just hearing about the baby crib situation is enough to make me cry. I can’t resist helping. Especially when it comes to babies. I think I’ll really bawl when I go there. Sigh…

  6. Quick question- will you let us know if we’ve been outbidded? I think it’s better if you do a ‘highest bid today sign’ so people will get more excited and bid higher. Plus they ‘ll know what they’re up against. just my 2 cents 🙂

  7. Hi! I have posted this cause in all my online accounts. I’m on my 37th week and I am privileged to have decent health care.

When I read Chuvaness’ and Daphne’s post, I told myself that I should spread the word. I’m no celebrity status but I hope I could somehow helo.

  8. just dropped by ur store today to bid. may i suggest that u have “consolation” prizes for, say the 2nd – 5th placers. that way you’ll raise more funds for the babies of fabella. maybe ur friends can donate other stuff. we did an auction fundraiser in my ofc for the benefit of gawad kalinga, i think two yrs ago. benjie reyes donated a chair and the bidding was crazy exciting. people love to donate and get a remembrance for the good work! we bought addtnl 3 chairs from benjie for the 3 runners-up, and we were able to add a substantial amount for gk.
    good luck and God bless.

  9. Gawad Kalinga spreads the spirit of positive change and transformation not only in the Philippines, but all over the world. It has served as an inspiration for other charitable organizations to intensify their efforts towards massive volunteerism and to execute programs to alleviate the living conditions of the poor.
