There are bags that are cute when inspired by certain objects. And then there are bags that end up looking cheap with the attempt to rip off the excited bag- loving consumer. Moschino’s FW2014 bags were cute, inspired by pop culture’s love (let’s not argue about this– even if we are now going for healthier options haha) for fast food (also known as McDonald’s). But this coming SS2015 season’s bag collection for Moschino which took inspiration from Barbie? I’m sorry (not sorry). Disastrous. Take this PVC bag for instance.
£435!!!! Are you kidding me?!? Or what about this £425 Moschino Barbie Pink PVC Backpack which might hold more things?
I might be hearing some (I have yet to hear) say these designer bags are actually priced at a bargain (well yeah if you compare the price of this bag to the Chanel graffiti backpack lol). But seriously, anyone would be crazy to pay that kind of money for a PVC bag inspired by a girl’s childhood doll brand with a printed designer logo all over its body. How much would this bag cost to make… in bulk? Yup kids, do the math.
For £435, you can easily buy yourself a cute little Barbie by Mattel backpack like this one from Amazon:
You can buy about 5o pieces of that shining, shimmering, splendid Barbie backpack. That’s right ladies. Give or take FIFTY PIECES. (The bag is listed on Amazon for US $12). I love fashion and I love bags.
I love designer brands. But sometimes brands take their consumers for idiots. I’d never, ever pay £400+ for a Moschino- Barbie bag. I’d much rather get the real deal– real Barbie by Mattel merchandise that is, and buy a few more for my friends LOL. Sharing is caring after all 🙂
