I have never been opposed to shoes with platforms. In fact, I do wear them at times myself, just to add more height. I hardly ever wear the platformed sandals like these YSL tributes though, and no offense, I just don’t get the fuss behind these sandals (the ones I’ve tried on were never comfortable at all).
I’m more of a platform high heeled pumps kinda girl.
But in the last few seasons, I’ve noticed that high- heeled pumps and sandals have taken on a flatter outsole. A few years ago, platform soles were all the rage, but now it’s all back to classics.
Frankly, I don’t mind these flat front- soled heels coming back because while the platform heels (which by the way are also dependent on the platform height as well as the shape of the toe box) make you look a lot taller, they tend to look chunky and rather unsightly on the feet when you are wearing a dress. Those shoes somehow have a way of making the person look a lot less “polished”. I actually used to call my platform heels, “hooker heels” haha 🙂
But see, women love looking tall (also because it gives us the illusion that we are slender 😀 guilty as charged). And platform heels provide just that (which is also the reason why Louboutin platform pumps and YSL platform tributes sell so well). If you can’t give up your platforms just yet, I suggest getting a pair of pumps with a pointy toe, rather than an open- toe or a rounded toe. The pointy- toed platform shoes seem to exude more oomph, and makes your feet look sexier and somehow less chunky. Saint Laurent makes a great pair of pointy- toed platform pumps.
Oh and a friendly reminder– if ever you do have photos/ full body portraits taken of yourself, please don’t wear platform heels. Go for the sleeker, flat soled heels. They look way better in photos 🙂
And speaking of sexy heels, how are these for sexy? 😀 *in love*
