Travelog: Thebaghag and Singapore (part 2 of Day 1)

Before I forget, I just want to send out quick hollers to four peeps: MC (who is still in Malaysia now and was a wonderful roommate :D), CF (who, with her DH, have been nothing but gracious and welcoming to us as we pillaged their adopted country’s stock of designer goods *hahahaha*), and PJ (who I hope gets to read the next entry *about dinner on Day 1* because he is part of it, and has likewise been such a great host!) The trip would not have been memorable without you all! And I hope the memory of me in Singapore did not leave a bad taste in your mouth *muwahahaha sorry if it did hahaha*.

Where were we again? Oh, ok, so after Hermes, we walked further along Orchard Road. I honestly don’t recall Singapore being this much fun. I almost worked in this country but had to opt for Hong Kong because at the time I didn’t think Singapore had that “oomph” compared to Hong Kong. What on earth was I thinking back then? Singapore is just as fun, and is even cleaner! And my oh my this golden mile of shops… It’s enough to make me queasy just thinking about it 😀

We passed by Isetan where we saw these Loewe Tiara bags– I love, love, love it! It was soo me 😀 *teehee, but alas the budget doesn’t think so*. And there was of course Fendi’s B Bag and that famous Bryanboy pose 🙂 Ugh, BB you should’ve come along this trip. You need to stand next to this and have your photograph taken. Side by side. 😀 *And how we would’ve paid to see him do that!! 🙂 Along with thousands of his Singaporean fans!* MC and I ate earlier at Genki Sushi by the Forum mall, so we were not hungry anymore, but I saw this really nice Mc Cafe and for a brief moment, I thought of asking MC to have coffee with me (we were both soooooo very sleepy).

But then there was Prada. Hehehe, designer bags over coffee anytime!! *WOOHOO!* Ooooh how sinfulllll… I am taking a serious liking to their metallic bag… (the bag on the left to be exact). There was also the newer collection of Prada which features the ruched leather bags. Oh, oh, oh! I have to tell you about the Prada store here in Orchard Road. They even have crocodile leather samples to choose from, and you can have a custom- made Prada crocodile “a la Hermes Plume” bag!! I saw that lilac croc skin sample and I was soo in love. I just wish my budget for a bag didn’t have to be so tight.

Take note that I really flew into Singapore WITHOUT a bag-purchase intention. I was here to sniff out the good stuff and I’ve so far sniffed them all 😀 *wink* By the way, half the time, I was already thinking of relocating my whole family to this country *muwahaha* But hey, don’t laugh. They are good schools here and I’m sure the children will enjoy this place– hello, tons of places to bring the kids to– parks, zoos… tsk. If only it were that easy… Sigh *dreamy look*

We walked past Tang City, Lucky Plaza (and across was Wisma Atria) to get to Paragon, where there were more sinful stores that awaited. It was off to YSL, and there it was. The Maia and the Double bag. The Double bag… sigh (sorry I had to “double” the mention :D). The one bag that got all these celebrities toting it at the same period of time– from Gwen Stefani to Uma Thurman, to Jessica Alba, and soon, Mrs. T *muwahahaha err ok long shot. AS IF!!! (the mere thought of me even relating myself to celebrities made me puke– HELLO I’m NOT bag worthy!!!) muwahahaha*. One side of the double bag is bronze, while the other is brown. Another version is the pewter/black combination which is equally nice and yummy 🙂

Here’s how they look in metallic (pewter and bronze)
And when flipped inside out, they become solid colors of black (from pewter) and brown (from bronze).

Loot-to-be #1: YSL Double bag in pewter/ white combination (small). Uh oh. Well the good news is, the bag won’t be available in the next few weeks, which means I get to fly back to Manila without the bag that I call my own. Bad news is, eventually it will arrive, and I will still have to pay for it. Why do I like the bag? Because it is reversible. Because it is very light. Because it is leather. I would’ve taken either the bronze-brown or the pewter-black, but I was really holding out for a white bag and luckily *or rather unlucky for my pockets hehe*, they will have the white-pewter combination soon.

After YSL, we decided to cross the street to Ngee Ann City, where there was yet another LV, Hermes, then Takashimaya, On Pedder, Chanel along with others.

We were walking toward the huge mall but could not help but notice the pedestrian walkway filled with people so we peered into what the crowd was fussing about, and there was this man who was creating these cool miniature critters/ animals (grasshoppers, roosters, egrets) out of grass!! Talk about talent. Now THAT is talent right there. I was for a moment, also tempted to buy the sidewalk icecream that everyone was getting, but I feared for my throat (hello, perennially sick hag with the throat problem, remember?). But oh boy if the weather didn’t make me sweat so much, I would’ve bought a cup (sweating + cold drinks= cough/ colds for me).

We made it to Takashimaya. Checked out the brands that mattered *muwahaha boy we are so jaded now aren’t we!*. MC was kind enough to put sense into my empty head when I almost shelled out SG$1,300 for an Hermes silver link bracelet. I actually wanted the bag charm bracelet (oh and THAT was soooo cute– imagine there were these bag charms– picotin, evelyne, birkin, kelly). But that bag charm bracelet was SG$4,300!!!! (It’s equivalent to Php 141,000!!! *Balk at the price*). I still can’t believe I almost bought that plain link bracelet. I must’ve been reallllly sleepy by then to have even thought about buying that! MC tells me “Hello Mrs.T, you can get a Tiffany silver bracelet for less than Php 15,000!” That sealed it for me and thank goodness for MC!

THEBAGHAG and MC in action: My oh my we didn’t realize the time! It was almost 6pm, and MC promised her friend PJ that we’d be ready to be picked up from the hotel at 6pm. And uh oh, we hadn’t even checked in yet!! Good golly geezuz… If it weren’t for baghag CF in Singapore, we wouldn’t even have been able to secure a hotel room! And now, we are really gonna get into deep doodoo because we just saw the looooong taxi line. Ugh. MC warned me about Ngee Ann City’s taxi line and I thought it was non existent earlier because when we passed by that door, I was NOT looking in the taxi line area (hello blind dingbat here! I was looking at the wrong direction earlier! How dumb was that?!). So I had earlier told MC, “Girl, why worry, no lines :D”.

Boy did I eat my words!! The line was like 20 people long! Oh sheeeyoooot!! We won’t make it to the hotel in time and I’m to blame. UGH 🙁 MC had this brilliant idea of just waiting for a cab outside. So we walked past the taxi line 😀 Hehehe. MC was like “Here, here, I know we can hail a cab here..” Then she stopped and said “oh no, they had closed up the area with bars! We can’t hail a cab there anymore!”

Out of nowhere, this empty cab appeared. Holy crap, it was like a friggin’ apparition, I tell ya. MC and I were ecstatic. We were flailing our arms everywhere screaming “Waaaaaaaait!!!” *muwahaha if you could only see, you’d tear up with laughter*. We were just supposed to cross the street to get the cab (because that’s where he stopped for us, even if the cars behind him were already blowing their horns at him), but the pedestrian light was still red, and we couldn’t cross the street to get to cabbie! So little cabbie driver had to slowly drive away 🙁 We were so forlorn. We’d be late for meeting PJ for dinner and it’s all my fault 🙁 I was so lost. MC was like “oh no, how will we get back to the hotel?”

*Drama drama drama* 🙂

Then the pedestrian light turned green. Before MC could react, I just ran. RAN as fast as I could. Bags and all. I kept running. I didn’t even look back at MC. *muwahahaha* MC just gave birth about 1.5 months ago and can’t really run (and I’m amazed that even she ran!!). And we caught up with the cab. YES WE DID. And the WHOLE crowd at the Bus stop was looking at us. They prolly thought we were thieves *muwahaha* with all those designer paperbags hahahaha.. We caught the cabbie!!

We made it back to our hotel at 5:55pm, which allowed us time to check- in, and breathe, and take this photo 😀 Ok, I am really pathetic to still think of taking this photo of the view, but what the heck 😀 We MADE IT IN TIME!!! 🙂 I can do what I please with those remaining 5 minutes and I chose to take photos *hehehe*

Here was our “loot” for the day on my bed 🙂Thank goodness for personal shopping for other peeps, now I look like I had made these purchases, but muwahaha NONE of the stuff in those bags were mine! 🙂 *This, my dear hags, is so unbecoming isn’t it? Haha but for once I’m glad I didn’t spend on anything :D*

We were out the door by 6:05pm where we met MC’s friend PJ at the hotel lobby.

More on where MC and I went for dinner with her friend and former colleague PJ on my next entry 🙂 Stay “tuned” 😀

  5. the YSL double bag costs about US$1,100 and the small is the same size as the Balenciaga motorcycle CITY bag. The large is just too huge for comfort.

yes, i took photos inside hermes, balenciaga, and ysl 😀 How cool was that *hehee* and as for the hermes valparaiso, i am not too crazy about it because i haven’t seen a bright color of the bag 😀 But the style aint so bad– it’s definitely better than the fourre tote! 🙂
