TRAVELOG: Paris Dinner at Lenotre

We had a splendid dinner with MC and IM’s famille, SherRen and Ludo, *quick holler to SherLe and your cool parentals… Missed you in Paris!!!* at Pavillon Elyseé Lenôtre. It was a very chilly 15 minute walk from our hotel, made warm only by conversations while walking 🙂 *It was THAT cold… about 5 degrees C only!*

Lenôtre, which is just beautiful, was built opposite Le Grand Palais, so its location is ideal for shoppers as well (a few minutes walk from this restaurant and you’ll already hit Saint Honore). Here’s a brief history of the restaurant, taken from their site.

“Lenôtre also provides prestige catering services for top events such as Soccer World Cups held in both France and Germany, The Sydney and Athens Olympic Games, Monte-Carlo Tennis Open, the Louis Vuitton Cup, The French Golf Open, The Six Nations Tournament, the Le Bourget Show, The World Automobile Show, the Arc de Triomphe Cup, The Farnborough Air Show, The World athletics Championship, and The Nice Summit.”

So, with those prestigious events they have catered to on our minds, we got right down to business– the business of eating of course 🙂

Pardon if I end up murdering the names of the dishes we ordered, but I have poor memory + poor French, which makes listing down these dishes just painful for me *muwahaha that’s what happens when you try too hard to act French if you can’t even speak French… hahaha watch and learn*

I ordered Oeuf avec Caviar (eggs with caviar?) No matter, this dish was mmmmm…. good!!

Foie Gras du canard (foie gras!). Can’t possibly get that wrong now, can I? (hehehe… hope my doctor isn’t reading this) This is the very reason why I’ve been feeling woozy the last few days post Paris. I betcha my cholesterol has shot up tenfold!

Homard au Truffe (lobster in truffle juice) *Oh dear, someone please make these dishes sound better in French :D* DB tells me this was excellent.

Crevette Pasta with mucho fromage It’s baked maccheroni with prawns actually. It smelled heavenly *droools*

Then there was the “set” which was ordered by our friends. They said it was great. I was offered to try but I was too stuffed already! The eggs were sorta leavening on my stomach! I was feeling bloated already, but a-ha, not bloated enough to skip dessert!

We ordered Le Grand Mille Feuille. It was really “grand”! We also ordered macarons and I made a booboo of mentioning Laduree, which immediately got our waiter sorta “riled up” and in jest, said, that their macarons tasted better than Laduree’s 🙂 I honestly think both were good and up there 🙂

The walk back to the hotel was lovely. There was no rain, but wooohooo the wind chill factor was just brrrrrrrrr!!!!! If I had a cold back then, I was sure that my colds would’ve frozen in the “cold” 😀

Tomorrow, a post on Versailles. 🙂

  1. Hi Mrs T,

I’m planning on getting my very first Goyard from a multiply seller. How can I tell that it’s authentic? 🙂 Desperately needing your bag expertise!

    Thanks!
