Travelog: Bangkok Siam Paragon Food (Day 1)

FOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!! Nothing beats foood– yeah you read it right, nothing. Not even a new bag (err… make that a new bag that costs under US$2,000 hahaha).

If you are a foodie, then you cannot not go to Siam Paragon’s Food Court. It is really quite an experience to just be there. There were lots and lots of foooood. The system there works so well too. You buy a food card (which acts like a debit card), and you just basically charge and charge til you no longer have any credit in the card. If you didn’t use up the card’s value, you can get a refund (within the day).

This is the place to load up on hot soup *the a/c was cold enough to merit a few bowls of steaming and scorching hot soup– but don’t even think about drinking hot soup outside the mall or you’ll melt haha*.

There were lots of curry dishes available (mild, spicy, very spicy), Japanese food (Ototoya), Hainanese chicken, Chicken with tumeric rice *which was soooo soooo good*, Vietnamese noodles (you pick the meat and soup stock) and Chinese noodles (think Soy chicken, Roast duck).
I was way too overwhelmed that I couldn’t really decide on what to eat. I ended up with some very very spicy noodle soup which I ate *super fast*.

I walked around some more to see what was available and saw these marzipan looking mini fruits. I was really tempted to buy them but pffft I was too cheap. I figured I’ll be coming back to this mall anyway and will just buy them when I get back. Hehe I take it the sales associate wasn’t too happy that I ended up not buying (after I asked about a million questions– and she had such a hard time explaining what these were in English tsk tsk hehe I’m so bad! ). Hehe actually she was really really nice to me 🙂 *I love Thai people, they’re all sooo chirpy and friendly!!* Of course now in retrospect, I should’ve bought them!!!

Then there was the sticky rice with mango dessert which I was again tempted to buy. Bah, I can’t handle any more food since I think 1. I burned my tastebuds (too spicy) 2. I was too bloated. Food isn’t too expensive here, and I think for a good 200 Baht, you’ll be full and contented 🙂

Ah now for the souvenirs. I decided to buy 2 big bags of Durian chips from this souvenir stand called Sawasdee. Durian Chips here are 250 Baht per bag. (I ended up devouring a whole bag when I got to the hotel. And the 2nd bag I intended to give to my friend EAI, but guess what, the damn bag popped in my luggage, so all my *dirty* clothes have durian chips on them!!!) I SHOULD’VE BOUGHT MORE!!!!

Here’s a favorite shot that I took of the mall. I had to run out and take the photo and run back in before it got too dark 🙂 Makes you wanna go to the mall too eh? Hehe wait til I tell you what’s inside the Shopping mall 😀 (You’ll wanna make that your permanent home hahaha).

Tomorrow’s post will be about the places we saw. Yes, we did all the touristy things imaginable with the children 🙂 So you can already imagine much of our time on this trip was spent on sightseeing. NOT ENOUGH TIME TO SHOP!!! *grumble grumble*

P.S. I just found out today that my DSIL is having twins!!!!!! I am soooo bowled over and overjoyed! I can’t believe that we are going to be welcoming two new babies come November 🙂 This is all too exciting and I can’t contain the news and I just have to share! Congratulations to my DB and my DSIL (who probably don’t really read my blog, but I just need a shout out anyway haha– can you already tell I’m a beaming and proud aunt-to-be? :D)

P.P.S. I ran into my old *old doesn’t pertain to age haha* pal Bryanboy at Greenbelt yesterday and I haven’t seen him in ages. What greeted me was this paper- thin person!! BB lost so much weight that I actually felt reallllyyy insecure haha 😀 His hat was soo cute too– it’s apparently by Mich Dulce. Way to go BB, you worked the hat!!

🙂

xx

  1. Big, big congrats to Mrs. T’s DSIL!

I don’t want to rub salt on your wound but it’s a sign, you know, for you to hit the baby-makers.

Do it ala Angelina. Her coterie of third world infants never cease to amaze me. Fly to some bumf**k location and import someone’s spawn! At least you don’t have to worry about getting fat. 😉

In any case, you still have lots of time kaya to mull things over. You’re only 28 for god’s sake!

    *wink wink*
