TRAVELOG: Bag Hag in Paris! Champs Elysees

Hi hags! Sorry I had been remiss with blogging. I’ve apparently been 1. enjoying my trip too much *loving the brrrrr weather*; 2. too tired to blog because of the all-day activities that kept us all busy; 3. too cheap to pay for internet access (darnit, it’s costing me 5Eu per hour… Sorry I don’t know where my Euro $ sign is :D.. help!).

Anyway, enough already, I’m online, so no need to bring up my being a pennypincher hehehe. We left Dubai shortly after my last post, and went on a 7 hour trip to Paris. We were on the new Boeing 777 plane, and it was soooo nice. The first class cabin had these ultra private seats– complete with little dividers that made the seat area into a mini private room! How awesome is that? We took business class *compliments of ma famille, thank youuuuu for sponsoring your poor relative! Hahaha* and we were likewise treated with a high tech seat– complete with “divider” should you decide you’re not sociable for the entire flight *hehe*, and even massage options on the seat, and oh, the seat reclines all the way back, just like a small bed! I can tell you this much– I slept like a log after my meal *food wasn’t great though*
We arrived Paris an hour and a half late (Dubai had poor visibility, so the ATC was not allowing multiple plane take-offs and we had to wait for our turn– we were actually #31 on the list at that time we found out about our departure delay. We were already inside the plane then). Off the Charles de Gaulle airport, we saw the Air France Concorde. My DM was lucky enough to have ridden the Concorde twice with my DD. She told us about her experience– while it was fast, it was also very cramped inside, very unlike the new Boeing 777 that we took. Lucky us this time 🙂

We took a nice ride to the city proper of Paris, and before long, we reached Arc de Triomphe. We were near the hotel. Our hotel is right smack on Champs Elysees. So you can tell this baghag was extremely happy to be within steps away from all those famous labels! *Wide grin*

Here’s the lobby of our hotel. The hotel has a small facade but the interior is quite grand. I could get used to this life *muwahaha no more budget hotels when I’m on my own haha*. And here’s our room. For Parisian standards, this room is considered large already. It’s not a very new room, but I was still really happy with it, since I knew I was in for some nice nights of good sleep 🙂

We hurriedly unpacked and left the hotel to check out our surroundings. OH MAH GAWD, it was a VERY chilly 7 degrees Celsius outside! Despite the rain and the terrible chill factor (literally), Paris is still sooo beautiful… here’s Champs Elysees.
And The House that Monogram built, Louis Vuitton along Champs Elysees and Ave. George V.
I was overwhelmed. It was HUGE. I don’t even remember it being THIS big! I couldn’t take photos inside because the place was PACKED. Yes, packed. With 95% Asians! It was amazing. Luxury has definitely redefined the way Asians lived. I can almost smell money inside the place haha. This was the only photo I managed to take inside the mothership. Those bags are NOT cheap! I found the Sac Jokes bag really cute 🙂

One of the window displays.

I was tempted to walk down George V to visit H, but I held back and played good girl *muwahaha what a big lie that is haha* (ok truth is, H closed at 6.30 and it was already getting to that time). That, plus we had decided we were going to see a show at Lido– we had to be there by 7.

We just decided to pass by Ladureé, famous for macarons and all sorts of pastries. I was in confectioner’s heaven. I’m honestly not big on sweets, but Paris would’ve been somewhat a waste without Ladureé. Besides, my friend CACL would’ve wanted me to eat on her behalf 🙂

So here was our Ladureé loot! *Drooool*

I ordered something like 10 kinds of macarons (macaroons), and cake as well as eclairs. Oh Gawd, I dread how much I’ve managed to gain since that fateful day haha. I can tell you without a doubt that everything was just heavenly!!

At 7pm, we headed to Lido for the dinner+show (we paid something like Eu 180/ head. Daaang not cheap 🙁 We had chestnut with hazelnut cream soup, codfish steak, half a bottle of wine per person, and profiteroles)

At 9pm, the show began and there were topless women with these woohoo costumes.*Photos weren’t allowed but I managed to take a few shots– this was the only good one haha… Pssst, PG13!!* The show had a pretty elaborate setup (a far cry from our 1st impression of the actual theatre sans the props). It was really worth it to see. It was not lewd, and the special effects were quite impressive. We were seated way in front, so it was pretty “full frontal” for me. And hahaha I wished I had the body of those showgirls *all the more I felt insecure hahaha… pathetic*.

I end this post with another photo, of moi along Champs Elysees, with the view of the Arc de Triomphe in the back 🙂 Sorry had to cam-whore *forgive forgive!!*. The whole day had been so surreal. I couldn’t believe I was in Paris once again *after almost 7 years!!* 🙂 I finally get to brush up on my real rustly French 😀 *muwahaha… tsk tsk embarrassing*

More posts tomorrow 😀 And yes, we’ve been doing the usual Museum/ sightseeing thing with ma famille. It’s been so much fun! It makes me really grateful that I have this family to share these wonderful trips with– or should I say, it makes me real lucky that I have a family who wants to share these wonderful trips with us, n’est pas? 🙂

xx
