Travelog: Akihabara and Shinjuku (for the boys and for the girls!)

Hey everyone! I am almost half- asleep as I type this (getting there)! I woke up super early this morning so that we could go to Akihabara and do other stuff afterwards 🙂

We ran into this man who was pulling a Radio Flyer wagon with 2 teeny tiny dogs riding on it, plus the man’s son as well!
It was such a sight to see! Everyone was pointing to them. Meanwhile my friends and I pointed out that the man’s pretty cool to be tucking away an Hermes Herbag at the back of the wagon. Was he not afraid someone might swipe it? *Japanese people are so trusting! I wouldn’t even want to put my bag on the back of my body! :D*

We usually take the JR Yamanote Line because it takes us where we need to go without having to transfer trains. I sorta fell asleep on the metro, but the ride wasn’t so long so I had to be disturbed to get off the train *hehehe I was THAT sleepy*.

At Akihabara, I saw a Canon G11 camera. Contemplated on getting it since my G series camera is still a G7. It’s in perfect condition but I wanted to take better photos. The price here was Y47,000– translates to about Php 25,000 which isn’t so bad. But then the G11 had 10 mega pixels, which, according to DH (who actually doesn’t know much about cameras hahahaha) isn’t really that big a difference from my G7. So I had to withhold that idea of getting a new camera while in Tokyo. I will do more research tomorrow perhaps. Too sleepy to do it now. I just want to share photos and literally crawl to bed 🙂

Look! Super Mario Bros is being played on that big telly– reminds me of the Nintendo (NES??) cartridge days!!

These very cute girls with their “costumes”. There are so many of  them in Akihabara.

More on the inside streets. There’s actually a “Maid Cafe” on the 2nd floor of this building!

(On top of that red- yellow billboard). Will that “Maid Cafe” theme work in Manila though?

I found this little van Sooooo cute! It even has an expandable “2nd” floor– I think it’s for sleeping. It has its own window 😉 It’s really soooo cute!!! Told DH it would be so cool to own one *hahahaha… I’d take this over a birkin– this time only, but yeah I’d do it hahahaha*

DH loves Akiba because he went to look for his “toys”.  😀 I am not into these vintage robots, but I guess to each his own– he’s not into bags hahaha!! *Thank goodness for that! hahaha*

After we went to Akihabara, we went to Shinjuku. My friend managed to pick up a little friend 🙂
Literally “picked” this little dude from the train station platform! Someone must’ve lost him 🙁 So I’m posting him here in case his owner starts missing him 😉 *hehehe, my friend is very honest!* 🙂

Then at Gucci,

there was a bag that looked like Hermes birkin (see top left gold/ camel colored bag). Okay it looks like an Hermes birkin, but I know that’s not the real inspiration behind that bag’s style. Though it’s not something I like so much, I think it would make a great everyday office bag.  🙂 I wonder if we’ll get that particular style in the Philippines…

We also went to Isetan, and then to H&M and later, to Komehyo, the 2nd hand designer merchandise emporium. The birkins at Komehyo weren’t really cheap. There were also 2 crocodile kellys– a violet  25cm as well as a 25cm one. No takers. Because they were sooo expensive 🙁  Converted, it’s approximately Php 1.10M *whistle* 🙁

Anyway, my friends and I spent a longer time at the jewelry areas because we were both hoping to score a good deal on something. We eventually moved out of there to go to the other shops in Shinjuku.

For dinner, we went into one of those little sushi/ sashimi places. I ordered this–

actually here’s a confession. I ate 18 pieces of sushi on my own. This was just the first plate. I devoured it all so fast after this one! *My bill went up to Y5,500 on my own hahahaha*

The funny thing was, after we finished our meal and walked around a bit, we found this place that served all kinds of “chirashi”. I have eaten in a place like this the last time I was in Tokyo– in fact, the one I ate in was at Akihabara!

We thought of having dessert, and voila, saw a fruit stand closeby that was selling fresh strawberries! So we each bought a pack *my pack cost Y600*

to take back to the hotel.

Such a yummy meal we had. There was a lot of shopping made lol– DH had his robots, my DKs had their toys (also bought from Akihabara), and I am still on a high from my purchase at Hello Kitty yesterday! *I will be giving away an official Sanrio Hello Kitty eye mask (just made for the Japanese market) for this contest on who can guess what I got correctly at the Hello Kitty Store on Thursday when I get back! So stay tuned for more contest details 🙂 It’s a small prize but it’s VERY cute 🙂 !*

Alright peeps. I want to tell you stories still but I think that’s going to be it for now. I can really barely keep my eyes open 🙁 I promise it will get more comprehensive soon. I just need to turn off the computer and sleep now!

And how was your weekend? 🙂 I understand tomorrow’s a holiday in Manila too!  Have a good one, everyone!!

  4. Hi Mrs. T,

I’m not sure how to send a message to you so I’m juts posting this on your comment board.

There is a thread at TPF requesting for a photo of the “magenta” goyard? I recall seeing that photo in your blog. Do you mind if I post that photo at TPF (with proper citation of course) or if you prefer, you can instead post the photo to satisfy the TPFers curiosity.

    Thanks!
