Time…the lack thereof + More Exotica!

So you probably were wondering if I went out of town or something because I seemed to have forgotten all about this blog 😀 Nooo I am in town, alive and kicking. I’ve just been swamped with work. Someone’s gotta earn a living to pay those mounting credit card bills that are left in one corner to hopefully rot hahaha. I was really praying that the card companies will forget that I even ever existed– but bah, FAT chance of that happening… NOT!

It’s really harrowing to already not have enough time to sit back and take a deep breath, it’s worse when you’ve got these card companies hounding you, tracking you down haha. I’ve thought of a million ways to avoid these annoying calls, but then if I actually put one into practice, I’m sure if Daddy were alive, he would seriously thwack me in the head *hehe don’t worry dad, I try to make you proud :)* Sigh, In reality, I just want to quietly slither away like a snake to end those credit card bill woes 😀 *Don’t we all!*

Ahh speaking of snakes, I’ve recently been thinking about all these exotic skin bags. Thanks to that Harpers Bazaar issue with the feat on Vera Wang and her to-die-for purple ostrich Hermes kelly (thank you DinaV for showing it to me haha). I love anything purple, but I’m also in that stage where I would honestly not mind having exotics added to my puny bag collection (if you can even call it a collection). Of course there’s always the issue of “how many animals have to be killed to make that bag”, and of course even if those animals were “farmed” etc etc, there is that hesitation to own one. Heck I wouldn’t want my own skin to be made into a handbag *ewwwww my skin would have the look of ostrich skin because of my acne farm hahaha*. But I guess if you are a serious bag afficionado, one day you’ll just wake up real jaded and want something more than the usual fare.

R&Y Augousti Snakeskin Ruched Clutch with Stingray Detail. Here’s the best part about this bag. It’s made in the Philippines! Our country has yet another bag manufacturer proudly exporting (which begs the question–WHO?! *hehe*). Anyway, for US$285, this bag exotica is very, very affordable! It’s not the same as the Celestina minaudieres (they’re structured and well, minaudieres are minaudieres…. gotta have one of them too), but I reckon this equally beautiful clutch is made in Cebu (or is it?). This bag is a good buy and is available at ronherman.com

Nancy Gonzalez in my book, remains the undisputed queen of bag exotica. Her crocodile bags such as this one continue to sell well at Neiman and Bergdorf. Apart from using the more conservative*cough boring* colors (brown, black, beige), she uses brights like fuchsia and this aqua to give flavor to the bag. Priced at US$1,750, it’s actually not a bad deal either, considering most known designer bags these days already cost in the upward amount of US$1,200.

Hermes birkin in crocodile and in ostrich. Of course, what’s this exotica list without the holy grail of bags, the Hermes birkin. Here are 2 exotics, most coveted by all baghags with deep pockets and not-so-deep pockets *hehe cough me*. Prices for these babies are in the US$20K up… *huge sigh*

But then for us bag mortals who can’t even get a whiff of exotic skin bags (let alone croc birkins), designers offer these lovely alternatives. Miu Miu has this croc-embossed patent leather bag for US$1,395. The bag is big, roomy, and even has a detachable shoulder strap. Available at neimanmarcus.com

Anyway, I will post another photo in this post soon– a YSL ostrich muse! This bag will soon be available at TRESOR 🙂 *I know, I know, shameless self- promotion!!* 🙂 Woohoo another exotic bag I can’t wait to touch touch smell smell! Actually it’s a first exotic bag that we will carry!
