THIS is an IT Bag

At this time of economic “depression”, I feel that it’s time to go “low key”. I guess it’s also because my umm”economic conscience” (if there is such a thing) is bothering me if I don’t subscribe to the “be low key for now” idea. (I think it’s also because I’m broke and feel terrible that my being broke had to do with those 3 bag purchases so early on in the year hahaha). But then of course, no one’s stopping you from carrying your beautiful thousand- dollar designer bag, especially if you’ve worked your buns off to afford to pay for it 🙂

The “IT” bag phenomenon during these times is dead. Increasing prices for designer handbags at the height of this economic depression is simply too ridiculous (but then brands do it to maintain their image as well as keep up with the rising costs of materials and labor). Of course, there are still people who would queue up to buy the latest bag. Louis Vuitton is a testament to this with their latest bag, the Stephen Sprouse tribute Graffiti Speedy. And let’s also not forget that many adapt that conspicuous consumerist (guilty your honor) and invidious consumerist attitude (now this, is just bad). In the wise words of Will Smith (which one comment poster had so appropriately written), “Too many people spend money they haven’t earned, to buy things they don’t want, to impress people they don’t like.”

*Sigh*

Anyway, the fashionista who believes in practicing economic sobriety during these hard times need not worry. You still want a nice “it” bag without paying $2,000? Read on.

Longchamp has been known in the bag world for the Le Pliage bags. I’ve confessed to having hoarded these medium Le Pliage bags in the past because they are just really indispensable. These bags are light, washable, and are timeless. And more importantly, compared to season upon season of “it” bags and expensive “wunderbags” (think bags like the Chanel 2.55 or classic flap *larger models of this style have gone up in price to around Php 145,000*), the Longchamp bags are definitely more price- friendly. You can have your IT bag and carry it too 😀

Longchamp Ceci Est Un It Bag. I love this bag. The style is “patterned” after the Légende or the Cosmos bag of Longchamp. Can’t afford those models? Get this one instead with the trompe l’oeil effect 🙂 Saw it and fell in love with it. Now I kick myself for not buying it. Problem is, I’m also cutting back on expenses and I figured I don’t really “need” this bag, now do I? The answer is No. BUT! If I hadn’t spent for my other bags last month, I would’ve definitely taken this nice orange bag. Someone out there with some moolah to spend? Consider this bag!

The Ceci Est Un It Bag style also comes in the other sizes and in white.

Zipped tote
Large carryall (like the LV neverfull)

The smallest of them all is also cute, by the way 🙂

Bags are available at Longchamp. I must check tomorrow if they carry this collection at Rustan’s. I don’t know the prices, but I vaguely recall the orange one priced around Php 18,000 converted (from HK Dollars). I could be wrong, but I’ll definitely try to find out.

Have a good weekend, peeps! Can you believe it, it’s already MARCH! Nine more months and it’s Christmas all over again!
