Thebaghag’s week + hibernating (eh? but it’s summer!)

Sorry for not having blogged over the weekend. I’ve decided that I was going to spend more time with la famille this weekend instead of hunching over again in front of my beloved computer to blog 😀 *My kids nagged me into not blogging over the weekend. Sigh, my kids are growing up so fast! I gotta spend more time with them before they refuse to be seen out with me hahaha* I’ve actually curtailed my going-outs and have just been staying home (yeah hibernating a bit– but I can’t call it hibernating really, it ain’t winter where I’m at and I ain’t a bear haha… YET) and swimming a few laps whenever I can because I feel so FAT :(* Confession: I’ve been binge- eating… pasta (Cantinetta… oh Lawrd try the 4 cheese pasta, and also the olive-oil garlic pasta), rice, caramel apple flavored microwavable popcorn (possibly the greatest invention of the 21st century!!! It’s SOOO GOOD!!!) and oh yeah, those endless scoops of ice cream… Can’t resist! Manila is just SO HOT right now that all I wanna do is to lock myself inside an AC’d room *oh boy electricity bills…* and eat ice cream! And since I am a good girl *muwahaha that’s an understatement* and want to save DH money by not cranking up the AC (I just turn on the electric fan and allow my body to cool itself by sweating haha–Pssst, DH if you are reading this, you know how much I love you now– I “sweat” for you hahaha), I just decided to eat ice cream to cool myself. Hahaha. Well, all those calories caught up with my body and now even as I stand up, I can feel them flabs. My “inner” wheel has decided to “come out” of my body and show itself *guffaw.. grossss*. Sooo, I’m not really in the mood to seriously social climb (like I normally would’ve). I can’t be in fight form with the way I feel about my body. I mean, I have to wear my friggin’ girdle again (and in this unbearable heat too!)– that ain’t a good way to party (what about all that free fooood!!!!) *Haha what a way to reveal my slimming secret… on my blog!!! Now you all know :)* Yeah, and while we are on the subject of girdles (I can’t believe I’m talking about girdles now… girdles were for our moms, not us… hahaha oh no!!), I would like to recommend the Maidenform Flexees Shapewear for those who are thinking of getting one 🙂 They’re goooood!

Ok before this blog post gets any sorrier (this talk about girdles and how to hide fat well is becoming really depressing, it’s like saying there’s no way I will ever become thin again haha…) the highlight of my week was meeting up with friends, and last Friday was definitely a good day, hands down. DaphP and I were in our “working” mode again when we met up with ImeeM at her office in Malayan Plaza. Speaking of DaphP, A friend of mine sent me an article about her being the “top choice” of Preview editor Pauline Suaco-Juan, when it came to best dressed celebrities. (Article from pep.ph) I couldn’t agree with her more. DaphP is really a style icon in my book. She pulls off anything effortlessly– and take note, NO STYLIST!! 🙂 Congratulations, girl! *Wooohoooo!!*

Soo anyway, she and I met up with JP, the Asst. Accessories Editor of O Magazine (Yes, “O” as in “Oprah Winfrey!!!“). It’s funny because even before I met up with this editor, EAI already bumped into him and had “PR’d” us and had managed to exchange cards with him. And EAI so kindly gave me his card (thanks a lot again, EAI, you’re heaven sent!). DaphP on the other hand, already met him before, and was solely responsible for setting up the afternoon meeting for PJ to view the Imelda Collection 🙂

I can’t believe it! I met one of Oprah’s editors 🙂 *Hehe feeling close!* He was really so much fun to talk to and was very, very friendly. None of that haughtiness or power tripping like other media dawgs out there *chortle*. Boy did he “work” fast! While he was taking photos, he was also chatting up a storm. His lovely sister also accompanied him to the viewing and it made it all the more fun. The guy also does a killer impersonation of all sorts 🙂 I actually wish you all met him because it was such a treat! 🙂 Thanks again PJ, we all had a wonderful time! Here’s a group shot (this baghag wouldn’t let the day pass without having a good photo with PJ and the peeps :D)(I had to cut my body in half in the photo or my flabs would be revealed for all to see and it just ain’t a pretty sight *gulp*) To my left is her pretty sis, O Magazine Asst. Accessories Editor PJ, Cathy (who is a luxury lifestyle specialist in BevHills *woohoo!!!*), a very svelte ImeeM, and of course, the very stylish DaphP 🙂

We did get to talking about jewellery and also a bit about bags 🙂 *By the way, her sis was carrying a beautiful Chanel bag!!* And while there is a good premier designer bag “drought” going on lately, there are still a few good ones (and less pricey as the premier designer brands) out there. Here are a few of my picks:

Antrobus Convertible Bag. Now I normally wouldn’t have picked a black bag for myself and you already would’ve known why. But this is a bag I actually would like to have right now. Because it is convertible. The top part (which is the bag itself) can be carried separately from its bottom (which is actually 2 drawer compartments!). It’s so perfect if I were to become an “alajera” (jeweller wannabe hahaha). Oh how I wish I could, but I think at this point, I’m still more of a consumer than an actual “supplier” 😀 *Ouch for my pocket then* Priced at US$1,250 at vivre.com (I am seriously considering this bag! Help! I’m on a purse ban!!)

Bulga
Convertible Bag. Ok now I can’t for the life of me figure out why this bag is called “convertible” because I don’t know what the bag converts into (like the one above). I do like the unusual shape of the bag and of course, the brand’s leather. Bulga is quite known for its soft leather already. Not bad too for the price tag of US$640. Available at neimanmarcus.com

Gustto
Gathered Bag. I think the only reason I like this bag is because it has that little detachable purse that goes along with the mama bag. And they’re not alike either. I like the baby purse because of the ornate frame. I guess I like the mama bag for the ruching, but I’m not exactly sold on those shoulder straps. They seem too long. But well, if you’re looking for a bag that’s a bang for the buck *pardon the vulgarity here haha*, this just might be it. Priced at US$635— you get two bags for the price of one 😀 At neimanmarcus.com

Alrighty folks, I gotta get a move on. Get some sleep I mean. If I am to go back to dieting, I better have a better lifestyle. The only reason why I was not getting sick as much lately, is because of all that food I’ve been stuffing myself with, and now that I’m back on a diet, I better get enough sleep or my body will break down again (like a car haha). Anyone buy anything at the Rockwell Sale? Bags??? Share your loot peeps!

P.S.
JP in OZ, thanks so much for the enlightening 4-1-1 comments on the Vuitton Fall ’07 collection 🙂 As always you are my resident bag guru 🙂

P.P.S. TRESORMAKATI.COM has new bags to be posted soon (within the next 2 days) which include a Chanel metallic silver quilted tote, and a Gucci monogram beige with ivory leather Pelham bag!! Also, further markdowns on some bags like the LV Myrtille Soufflot, and the LV Pastel Glitter Kelly! Check it out if you have time 🙂 www.tresormakati.com
