THEBAGHAG’S BIRTHDAY GIFT

Today, I turned One Year Older! *Pfffft go ahead, call me old :D*

I actually didn’t get me a birthday pressie because I got some pretty cool bday gifts already!

1. Baghags MS and JB got me Royce Chocolates *drooools… yummmmy*
2. Baghag DC got me a real good book about Positive Thinking (this is what I truly need!!)
3. Baghag BL got me some cool notepad sets which I’m so totally loving
4. TinaN of Ilaya Couture (one of my fave clothing brands) gave me a beautiful purple shirt
5. DB got me some Lacoste shirts (which I’m otherwise too cheap to even bother buying haha)
6. DB and DSIL bought me a New Nokia phone *woooohoooo* coz they see how abusive a mobile phone user I am hahaha… (Remember my old phone just died on me, meaning it got totally corrupted, causing me to lose ALL the stored phone numbers?)
7. DM got me bliiiiiiing 🙂 🙂 🙂
8. DKs wrote me beautiful cards with cute drawings of “gifts” and “flowers” 🙂 *priceless!!*

And for myself, I’m actually giving a small donation to PGH, Children’s ward. It’s an add-on to what I am giving from the proceeds of our previous “garage sale” at the village 🙂 *beams*. I’ve decided to use the money I would’ve otherwise used to buy that new LV psychedelic purple epi Alma to purchase some supplies for the kids of PGH. I know it’s not right for me to even disclose this. After all, if you decide to give something to a charitable cause, it’s wiser not to mention it in the open right? (It’s like asking for acknowledgment or credit… but this is really not the reason for my posting it here). But since I didn’t want to get a barrage of emails, texts, and comments on what bag I got me for my birthday, I might as well just disclose it here. It’s really the best gift I can give to myself this year.

I am not growing any younger, and I have to shamefully admit that I haven’t really been religiously donating to children’s causes as much as I’d really want to. *Sigh* In the past year, I’ve become so engrossed with my own little bag world (ok, I’ve been selfish… real selfish) that I had neglected to look at the other more pressing issues that plague the lesser fortunate people in our country. Especially the innocent children who don’t have it good. 🙁

I guess this time that my kids started school got me seriously thinking that I am so lucky that my parents were able to afford me a good education. It got me thinking that I am lucky that I can afford to send my kids to school. Other kids don’t even get that chance to learn and to grow mentally.

This thought seriously haunted me, and I must again, shamefully admit, that I found it hard to give up the money that I have for a new bag or a new something. But then I kept thinking about the children, the children. It would’ve been so cruel of me to go back and spend it on something I honestly don’t need. Which is another new bag. I mean, I haven’t even used my other new bags much!! *Tsk… Hoarding!!! Again!*

So, I didn’t think about this “giving- up- the- bag- fund” as a sacrifice anymore. Besides, I’ve been so selfish this whole year! Too many bags in too little time, right? *Tsk tsk* So now’s the time to get my act together and give something back. I guess this is really my way of saying thank you to the Big Guy up there too, for having given me blessings throughout the years– the blessings of a very supportive family (my Dad, Mom, DBs, and Sis-In-Law), my wonderfully sweet children and my ever- so- cool DH (even if I still take potshots at his stinginess, he’s still a blessing hahaha 😀 *Boy he hates these little honorable mentions hahaha*), sincere and loyal friends, both new and old, and of course, you readers, who think that I actually have some kind of entertainment value (or so I thought you did) *hahaha*. 🙂

So, THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO TEXTED/ EMAILED ME BIRTHDAY GREETINGS!! 🙂

P.S. DH didn’t get me a birthday gift!!! *Snicker… if you hags personally know my DH, you might as well email him the list of stuff I want for my birthday… yes, the Material stuff hahaha*

  6. so nice to hear about how you spent your birthday. read your posts everyday because it cheers me up. having a “less abled” child, i resort to getting myself a nice bag once in a while. Shallow but fun divertion. Educated myself by reading your blog. Thank you! Congratulations on your decision on making a donation to PGH. Happy Birthday!

  7. OH MY GOD!! I’m watching Living It Up, right now! I love the Goyards. I didn’t know that Papillion was pronounced that way. I love your accent!!

  8. Choosing to be generous on your birthday is exemplary. Good going, girl.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

    Cheers!

  9. happy birthday day Mrs. T

I think youre more than entertainment value. ive been following your blogs quite regularly, which i guess gives me a periodic escape and respite from my mundane but neccessary job.

but what i think is more proper is seeing your enteries grow from mere entertaining enteries (hogan vs. hermes) to a little bit more responsible,pay-it-forward and meaningful thoughts (giving up a purple alma for charity, etc…suggestion, maybe teaching PGH kids to make and create their own handbags, i think i saw this download your hermes bag foldup on some site.. o di ba.. share your passion for bags)

i guess its not the growing old part but taking note of the more essential things in life which probably is more important than a birkin (though, id like to dream that one day…)

So just in case the charity bug bites you soon and you need to dispose of your treasures named goyard and hermes Mrs. T.. theres so many of us who might benefit from it..(dreaming is for free naman…teehee)

more power to you and thanks for the “entertainment”, but for sharing yourself and providing a sort of haven from my drudgery.

    longchamp forever.

  10. hi mrs. t, i think your DH is still working on the starex… be patient 🙂 happy birthday and congratulations on your blog! my day ain’t complete w/o it.
    – mrs a.

  11. Mrs.A: hahaha no starex. No budget !!! hahaha but thanks for hoping on my behalf 😀

rosamistica: we will visit PGH at the end of the month 😀

ADDIE: Hmmm… I actually try to answer blog questions as much as I can. And correction on your attempt to insult me (tsk futile attempt :D)– I am actually a VERY (emphasis on VERY) shallow baghag. And yes, I spell like a bimbo (i.e. my spelling of “kinduvan” *some kind of an*). And more importantly, of course I know there’s a food regulatory board here called BFAD. I’d never allow my kids to eat unsafe and “unregulated” food. *D-uh* (said like a Bimbo) *Muwahahaha*

tamale888 and jazcat: it feels nice to give back. I hope I can continue this!

anon (on charity): let me know which orphanage. It’s not hospicio de san jose, is it?

anon: I feel for you and I applaud you and admire you for your strength. God is always with you 🙂

beatrice, pg, and lengleng: Thanks 🙂

achie: Likewise! Glad to have met you face to face 🙂

  12. closet case cris: I love it when you comment 🙂 Novel !! Anyway, about teaching kids to make bags, I will have to admit I lack talent in that department. I wish I had more time and talent to do that too. But yeah, that would be a neat idea for the kids, wouldn’t it? 🙂

  13. in addition to p-nasty, mrs. t can you post here some of the hard-to-pronounce bag styles esp of the brands lv, chanel, and goyard?
    tnx!

  14. mrs. t before, i was thinking that for every money spent on a signature bag, i’d like to give back 10% of the amount to a charity…but haven’t done it yet (sigh…i feel guilty). i hope i can start that soon.
