The Sofitel Manila Staycation Experience

You know, I have been noticing one thing about myself of late– I talk so much more than I write *LOL*. I feel that I have so many things to talk about and yet when I have to pen it down (or rather type it out), I run on near empty. Am I actually becoming lazy? Oh dear I hope not! Over the last few weeks, I’ve been attending a lot of events when I’m in town in Manila. I’ve also taken to instagram to update peeps of where I go or what I do, and the blog somehow ended up taking a backseat! And when I had the time to blog (think staycation at Sofitel), I chose to spend all my time with my children who were there with me.

Speaking of that staycation, it was actually my first in Metro Manila. I’ve actually always preferred to stay home over staying over at a hotel if I were just in Manila. Some of my friends are actually “professional” hotel staycationers haha– every opportunity they get to stay in a hotel for the weekend, they’d take. So when the idea was brought to me, I asked this set of friends for their preferred hotel. And most of them answered Sofitel Manila. Because Sofitel is really the only hotel in Manila that had that “resort” feel.

And so my kids and I checked into the hotel on a weekend. The hotel was really busy at the time we arrived– because everyone had the same idea! I had a chat with a reader who had recognized me as I checked in at the lobby and I asked her why she chose Sofitel. She said, “it’s the best resort hotel in Manila” without hesitation. As a child, I still remember vividly those days and nights we’d spend at the once- called Philippine Plaza. My parents held office nearby and this hotel was always our pitstop for dinner if we visited them after school.

Anyway, when we were attempting to check in at the lobby (the hotel was 95% occupancy on a weekend, wow!!), we were told to check in on the 10th floor because we had club lounge privileges– that was the Club Millésime.  While we waited for our turn, we were kept “busy” with the lounge food 🙂

And when we were finally brought to our room on the 10th floor, I was honestly not expecting to be treated to a beautiful room with an incredible view! We were given a suite and the suite living room was big and very inviting. Haha I contemplated on calling my friends to come “hang out” at night. But woops, this was family time 🙂

Oh let me tell you, my kids went crazy over these sweet treats! They were already happy campers!

We were also even welcomed with wine, cheese, and fruits!

The bedroom was nice and big and of course, we slept like babies that night 🙂

Modern and spacious!

We spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool– I watched my kids swim and at the same time, got around to catching up on my reading while listening to my Soundcloud playlist.

It was one of the most relaxing afternoons in Manila I’ve ever had this year! The sunset from Sofitel was also magical.

I have not had the opportunity to see the sun set in Manila for so long (I guess we take it for granted because we live in this city, and we are nowhere near the water on regular work week). I also spent a considerable amount of time inside the cocoon swing 🙂

Dinner was held by the poolside where there was a cultural show

The night was balmy but it was beautiful. Magical.

I have not known this in any other Manila hotels but this is really definitely an excellent hotel staycation– and I have not even talked about the food (and other services available) at  Sofitel yet. Haha that deserves an entirely different post altogether!

Check out the hotel for yourself. Staycation packages are available at www.sofitelmanila.com
