Stores in Singapore that are “absent” in Manila

In Singapore, I noticed all the new malls featured all things fashion. Clothes, accessories, shoes, bags. DH had a hard time looking for toy stores for the kids (except Toys R Us @ Paragon and well, the Takashimaya toy section). I was not in a shopping mood (no moolah haha), and besides I actually swore not to spend on anything designer (= expensivo) since this trip is really all about our kids. No mommy time.

Here are some of the stores that we don’t have in Manila.

Callate La Boca (which literally means Shut the Mouth. Or Shut Up haha). I wonder what the policies in Singapore are about shop names. This reminds me of the David and Goliath shop in Rockwell.

Southhaven at Wisma Atria. I think lighting in a store is really essential. White lights don’t seem so inviting. I didn’t even go into this store although from the outside I saw some nice tees.

Little Miss Selfridge (did we not have this brand in Manila? Or am I already hallucinating?)

Ion Orchard. Not a store, but a mall.It is actually the newest mall in Singapore. And is dedicated to all things fashion.I only stayed in level one (also where the jewelry section is). Kids were getting rowdy and tired (we walked all the way from our hotel for this mall!)

Oooh I want to go in here!
Uniqlo. Nice stuff. Not cheap. Not on sale 🙁
Yeah, I’m superficial too, so, whatever 🙂
Rubi Shoes
And the newly opened Bershka
Soooo many malls, soooo many shops selling clothes, soooo many choices! This is retail heaven for a shopaholic, but I wonder how the stores are really doing right now (slow economy and all)… *Sigh* I really want to come back to Singapore for shopping sometime in the near future!!!

  1. bagaholicboy said that Bershka is under Inditex group daw (Massimo Dutti, Zara) so I guess their clothes are good….

  2. Hi Mrs. T, im a regular reader. Im not surprised why these stores are not in Pinas, we don’t even have an H&M there.

I don’t know the other stores but I love Bershka. I recently bought a nice red casual dress there for about EUR10. And they are so comfortable. I guess this store will sell in Pinas if somebody bring it there.

Though, I think our local stores there like Bench, Kamiseta and Bayo will definitely be moneymakers here in Europe, esp here in the Netherlands. We just need a billionaire to bring em here.

  3. Hi Mrs. T!

There used to be a Miss Selfridge here 🙂 I remembered because I (and my family) go to RP Manila alot. It used to be in 1 big store with Topshop 🙂

Uniqlo really have nice stuff 🙂 Yet not cheap!

I must say Singapore and HK are shopping heaven to me! Can’t wait to go too in the near future! 🙂

  4. yes we did have miss selfridge in manila! it was actually in robinsons place ermita beside topshop.

  5. Uniqlo is not expensive, Its actually cheap. The price range is similar to that of H&M and Gap. And soon they will launch a collaboration with Jil Sander.

  6. Hi Mrs. T,
You’re not hallucinating, there WAS a Miss Selfridge brand here indeed, it was carried by Topshop. I wonder why they don’t carry the brand anymore though. Also, it was just Miss Selfridge no ‘little’. At first I thought the one you saw in Sing was for kids.

    =)

  7. we had miss selfridge here in the philippines for a while, around early 2000. It was located at robinson’s place manila right beside topshop, and was also brought in by robinson’s group. sadly, they closed after 2 years (?) of operation. only topshop was left. just a little info from a shopping hag. haha *wink*
