Social acceptance and bags that could get you accepted ?

Sooooorry for not having posted yesterday and today. I’ve been catching up with a little writing (yes, work) and wrapping presents (duh am I the only one who hasn’t wrapped anything yet?).

What a week it has been! In a few more days, I am flying out for our annual vacation, and won’t be back in the country til mid January. I know, I know, loooong vacation. (I promise, I will blog.. food shots again… FINALLY haha 😀 ) You know what they say, work hard and play hard *err wait, that only goes for people who actually work… meanwhile my whole year was wasted since I was jobless and no one wanted to hire me (how sad a realization is that! It’s because I am such a liability– and I shamelessly admit that! Muwahaha)*.

Two nights ago, I had a wonderful dinner with baghags MsJ aka McD and MS, and I enjoyed the fooooood a lot, not to mention great company. Of course bag talk was always on our menu, but we also talked about topics like how to gain social acceptance among peers.

Uh oh, serious baghag talk in 3…2…1… I think there remains a lot to be said about that, but the gist of it is, you don’t need to have expensive bags to be really accepted among your peers *duh*. Thebaghag revelation: I’m a living testament– I have some nice bags, but those bags STILL didn’t get me accepted! Hmm maybe I have the wrong bags? Hehe*

But seriously, I think it’s really all about one’s attitude– my father had once lamented that a person’s success is really not measured by where he is in society, but by how he has gotten there *deep!*. So even if you are successful (raking in the big bucks), but if you had to step on people’s toes left and right or demoralize others to get to where you are, then really, it’s a shame because that’s not real, honest to goodness success. Perhaps in a superficial kind of way, it is. After all, it’s not hard to delude yourself into thinking you have achieved success *I’ve done this many times, thinking I’m already successful with my finances… until my credit card bills arrive haha*. But at the end of the day, it’s how people really speak of you behind your back. If people only have the nicest things to say about you, then you can pat yourself in the back. Now on the other hand, if people spit fire or cringe at the sound of your name *like they do with me– muwahaha oh so pathetic!*, no matter how much money you earn, you are, and will always be in their eyes, someone who tried too hard to gain acceptance– and hasn’t, and will never earn respect in the way an honest person has.

Ok this is getting wayyy too freaky already. My journey of self-reflection ends right here, right now. I think I’ve been living in social Siberia for far too long *muwahaha*. What’s life without a little pretention here and there, right? After all, you are reading the blog of the very shallow, very pretentious, know-it-all, and freeloading baghag wannabe! (But pssst, freeload once in awhile, just not too often in that people get disgusted at your blatant manner of freeloading– make freeloading fun but don’t make it into a profession *like I have with my famille hehe soweeee* :D)

So, this pretentious baghag thinks these are the bags that will be the key to *some kind of* social acceptance (hey, you DO want to be noticed, right? :D)

1. Gucci brit platinum bag. What’s the best way to get noticed? Carry a silver bag (hello, that’s what I’ve been doing lately hahaha). And make sure the logo is visible 😀 Kidding aside, I am actually liking the return of the big logo of Gucci. Not on all bags, but this one makes the grade. (For the more conservative, take the black version of this bag. It’s very nice with the contrasting reds and greens on the logo). Ugh, now this bag reminds me of the hobo that was posted here a few days ago (yes, the Php 9k one.. I wish I had gotten it! *scream* ) Oh, talk about social acceptance and a Gucci bag! Does anyone recall the story of the Guccis? 😀 *how veddy veddy appropriate!!*

2. Pucci Festa North South bag. I love Pucci because it’s so “notice me”. And what’s better than having a Pucci bag that’s on sale? From US$415 to just US$289, this North-South bag is guaranteed to perk up an otherwise gloomy day. Check it out at eluxury.

Having an UCCI (Pucci or Gucci) bag might do the trick, but then again, if all else fails, a solid set of morals and ethics will always rank high in gaining social acceptance among your peers. Stay true and happy this Christmas and the coming New Year!! 🙂

Woohoo speaking of Christmas, it’s just a mere TEN days away!! *sigh I miss my dad…*
Anyway, I’d also like to take this opportunity to send my special thanks to the following hags: MF for having thought of me at the Body Shop :D, Ms.S for that “regal” keyholder, BL for the super cute notepad and accessories and the lil toys for my kids, MT for the shirts and the chocolates *which I haven’t stopped eating*, CL for the boxful of polvoron and chocmani *and I’ve gorged on them and gained some weight haha*, WC and your DH for all the toys and goodies for my family, MS and McD for the lovely gifts for my kids and for DH and moi, legal eagle LC for the finger lickin’ good cookies, Preggyhotmama MBS for the cake *oh my oh my… my kids ate a few good slices of that, and I am having that tomorrow for lunch :D*

Truly, I am so blessed with this blog *I know, I’m cheesy* (even if I’ve lost all my self-esteem because of my endless ego- flogging *sniff*) because I have been given a wonderful opportunity to meet you baghags who share my passion (and who actually think I’m funny even if I beg to differ). Hags, you don’t have to give me anything, please *see I don’t like freeloading all the time haha, I get ashamed too!*. You are all too kind. It has indeed been a special year because of your support for our baghagging 🙂 Just continue sharing the passion for bags for this coming year, and you would have already made me a very happy woman for 2007 😀

xx

  1. Hi MrsT! You know what, you are funny but you really degrade yourself too much. How about your new year resolution be no more self degrading? You do not deserve all that flack you give yourself! You are really a silly baghag and you make us laugh so much! Thanks too for a year of laughs and a year of salivating over bags! Merry Christmas =)

  2. Wow girl! A lot of self reflection goes a long way! But does this translate to more bags? ha ha ha Are you going to be in San Fran?

  3. I wonder, you talk about your flaws all the time on your blog but do you really see anything good about yourself in real life? You brought up a good question. How is your self esteem? Do people really call you self righteous? How do you freeload? Do you ask for free things?? And do you get them? I’m very curious how you live your life… You’re a known person, sorry for being nosey!

  4. You are something else Mrs.T, something else! and what you are doing is a wonderful thing. You have enlightened so many peoples’ lives and you just don’t know it. Friendship with you transcends all social classes and that’s really what makes you something else. So happy to know you and even more happy to know you go out of your way to accommodate people! You made me feel special even if I am not! Happy Christmas to you and more blessings!!

  5. Hi Mrs. T. You are funny and you entertain me by giving me insight into your circle of friends and life.

I applaude you for your openess but I do agree with the others that you degrade yourself too much. In almost every post, you’ll say something and then put yourself down… c’mon lady…Own it! Say what you feel and don’t feel guilty about it. hehe.. Enjoy it as it comes to you..

Keep up the great work. You are the highlight of my day.
