SLIM @ The National Museum. Well- attended indeed!

Town and Country Magazine sponsored the Salvacion Lim Higgins Retrospective, which happened tonight (well, last night) at the National Museum.
The National Museum basked in lights. This was my first time here. And I felt like I was in another country. The atmosphere was so different.
I loooooove!! I’d love more literature on The National Museum (like when was it built etc… such a beautiful building!!!)

The occasion was very special, and I was really glad that I was invited and even more excited that I was able to attend. You see, unlike other gorgeous young thangs, I don’t have a lot of beautiful dresses and gowns to wear at “formal” events like these, and no designer wants to lend this baghag any clothes *muwahahaha* Ok, I have never borrowed from them (in exchange for “credit” a la Hollywood stars)…  Mrs. T is actually shy that way, plus I’m not a showbiz personality and nor will I ever be, with my looks *hahaha* to have that right to ask to “borrow” clothes! * And the thing is, it was too late for me to ask designer Carmen Reyes to make me a gown (I’m always sooo last minute).

So, I ended up wearing an “old” gown 🙂 I purchased this *on sale* at Lane Crawford a year or so ago, but I never wore it anywhere yet. So I guess this was the perfect occasion! Yay 🙂 *Now I need to think of other events to wear this gown to, to get max mileage for it hahahaha*

I paired it with a beautiful Janina for Jul Dizon shagreen cuff in turquoise! (ok, don’t pay attention to the jelly roll arms. I’m working on it– soon hahaha)

Before I post photos of the actual exhibit (tomorrow, hopefully), I want to post photos of those who attended the event! (I am a wannabe paparazzo / photographer too, you know 😀 Plus, the social mountaineer in me kicked right in hahaha)
First, this lovely young jeweller to the stars, Janina Hoschka (aka “fashionista” — as what one guest at the event fondly called her hahaha), is my date. For the first time in 8 or so years, Janina and I “hung out” 😉 *woooohoooo first daaaate hahaha* She wore her beautiful wedding gown tonight (I loved it on her. She was so FFC tonight *French Flapper Chic hehe*) And of course, bling by Janina!

And then there’s hot mama Lucille Dizon, also of the Jul B. Dizon jewellery family, who had just given birth a few months ago. She is so svelte!! *I’m green with envy– I had so much trouble losing pregnancy weight after I gave birth– and Lucille is so svelte after a few weeks post-partum!*

Blogger + jewellery designer Candy Dizon hotness (her cuff is beautiful!)
Candy, I love this color on you! So rich! 😀 *and oh the bliiiing!!*

Couldn’t resist taking this photo of the Dizon sisters. 🙂

(psst, girls, I am collecting my payment for this family portrait *muwahahaha*)

Inquirer Sea Princess Tessa Valdez, who was a picture of cool in blue.

The very able and beautiful Stephanie Chong of Manila Pen (Manila Pen catered for the event– yummy!!)

A dramatic entrance for Pam Gonzales *love the look!*
Finance whiz Andrew Gan and design whiz Jonathan Matti

Always so stylish, Town and Country Magazine’s Rorie Carlos

Woohoo, I caught makeup artist Patrick Rosas (who once taught me a thing or two on makeup, back when I was with Metro Weddings.

But then again, I really just don’t know how to put on makeup– I  never fail to achieve that “twobit whore”  “ancient Chinese opera actress” look  hahahaha… oops. rated G… sorrreeee hehe)!

Leah Puyat with her designer-turned- priest friend, whose name escapes me at the moment (had a little much to drink I think!)
See, our photographer friends were so hard at work (working double time, in fact)– that I  was actually lucky to have caught them resting for a few seconds to take these photos of them 🙂  *I’m the paparazzo haha* You see, there were just too many beautiful peeps at the event for them to photograph! *It’s haaard woooork!!!*
What a fantastic night it was! My “GFF date” *hahaha* Janina, and I, along with Candy, Steph, Lucille, and Andreas all ended up at the coffee shop of Sofitel for a late dinner (ugh that was where the night was spoiled– we waited an hour for our a la carte dinner and it was bad. tsk– pay attention, SOFITEL)
Tomorrow, I will try to post the beautiful clothes of SLIM. If you happen to have the time, I strongly urge you to go see the SLIM retrospective. It’s really something else. Quite an inspiring experience to see all those beautiful clothes, made before my time ;).

P.S. SEE YOU PEEPS at Daphne Paez for Linens Direct Event today at 5pm at The Atrium at SM Megamall! 🙂

P.P.S.
Special thanks to Rhea Aguirre for donating diapers for the Moms for Moms drive! 🙂

  2. Mrs. T,

The priest or rather the Benedictine Monk in the pic is DOM Martin De Jesus Gomez, OSB or from another lifetime, Gang Gomez. We met him many years ago in Malaybalay’s Monastery of the Transfiguration wherein, even their gardening attire was so chic!
