Save a Bag for a Rainy Day :D

Ahhh it’s the rainy season once again. I actually like rainy days because it sorta gives you that reason to take everything slow. But ack, when it comes to choosing the right bag for the rainy day, only one brand comes to mind. Goyard. I know, I know, you’re probably exhausted about my constant praises of the brand. But after all, this was the brand that had saved my camera and phone from getting wet (see, my camera and my phones are slowly dying because of “age”! :D).

If you are not really into Goyard (despite it being featured recently on In Style Magazine and the local Tatler mag), then here are some other suggestions for bags this Fall 2007.

Fendi’s Forever Fendi Monogram Bag. While there are occasions when I have to say “enough is enough” with monograms, I have to make a special exception for this bag because of the uber cool electric colored leather trims. I believe this bag is also available in the metallic fuchsia and electric blue leather trims. I like this bag. And the price is fairly reasonable too *considering bag prices these days*. Priced at US$655 at Bergdorfgoodman.com

Valentino Maison Bone bag. I remember having talked about this bag. I had seen and test driven the bag (in red) and didn’t see that they had a bone colored one. Now this bag is really a must-get. It’s very, very pretty!! Priced at US$2,295 at Bergdorfgoodman.com

Valentino Pleated Knot bag. Here’s another bag that I had really, really liked. The bag is made of black satin, and has a beautiful knot pleating pattern. If Miu Miu and Prada had taken the ruching to the next level in the bag world, then Valentino is revolutionizing the bag world with its pleatwork. It’s a gorgeous bag that can easily take you from day to night. Priced at US$1,895, also at Bergdorf Goodman

YSL Overseas Drawstring bag. This bag has a nice little drawstring detail in gold hardware. While we peeps in the Philippines will have to say goodbye to the YSL brand (we hope it’s temporary!), peeps elsewhere can get their hands on this bag fairly easier (than us). If you are tired of the Muse, the Downtown, then this bag might be that breath of fresh bag air 🙂 Drawstring bags are notorious for their size, so you can still tote your “house” *hehe I bring my whole house a lot haha* on your shoulder if you like 🙂 Priced at US$1,895. Bergdorf Goodman

Now, while the above were the bag favorites for that “rainy” day (make sure they’ll well coated with water repellant of some sort before you take them out into the rain :D), there also are the bags that would have to be inducted into the bugly bag list. Here are my favorites for the Bugly Bag Alert List for Fall 2007 😀

Fendi “Tribal” Spy. Enough with evolving the Spy already. I like the Spy, but in solid colors only please. The most I can work with for this design is the two- toned ones– i.e. cream and red, mocha and blue-violet… But not in all earth tone shades! It’s really a shame. It looks like these are the left over leather strips used to make the solid colored Spy bags. Tsk tsk. Two thumbs down 🙁 Priced at US$2,190.

Fendi Large Sequin Spy Bag. I think the idea for this is to carry it to some funky/cool/hip/chic event. Sorta like a large Judith Leiber on your shoulder. Err, that’s why there’s the clutch. The clutch with plenty bling is acceptable “handcarry” candy, but to have a bag this big with this much detail (sequins??) on your shoulders on a hot night out? No thanks. It’s like the Fendi Spy went and took Bellydancing lessons 🙂 Price is not for the fainthearted either! US$4,890. For that amount, you can already get the classic Hermes Lindy bag.

Here’s another bag from Fendi, which I think is quite fun but well, too reminiscent of a feather duster 😀 The Shearling Shopping Chef bag. I don’t think there’s much to be said here, the photo speaks for itself *hehe*. If you happen to own a vacation home somewhere and are too *cough* cheap to have someone clean your house before you arrive, you can just tote this bag since it will double as your feather duster *muwahaha bad girl!*. It’s actually cute haha. But after I saw the price, it ain’t cute anymore 😀 Priced at US$5,040. Oh and make sure you don’t use this bag out when it’s raining outside. You don’t want your bag looking like a wet, dripping dog 😀

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Baghag MS! 🙂 You are really lucky to have such wonderful friends and family who were there to celebrate your birthday with you– and in style too! The bags I saw were fantastic :D! Thanks for inviting me to your special day 🙂

P.P.S. Goyard Baghag DC, thanks so much for the ensaymadas 🙂 Yummmy!!

P.P.P.S. I will not be blogging for the next two days, as I am going on a little “retail retreat” *snicker… actually it’s a food trip* with two girlfriends 🙂 Will definitely update you hags when I’m back online 🙂

xx

  1. YES to Goyard! Even my boss (a happily married man who is normally very frugal) has gotten interested in getting himself something from the men’s line (I think what piqued his interest was not the royal clientele, but the fact that THE Sir Arthur Conan Doyle commissioned Goyard to do a desk for him…)

  2. hi! may I know what month of instyle magazine issue the goyard was featured?

    thank you very much! =)

    cgr!

  3. hi mrs. T, am thinking about buying the white croisiere35.. do you think like after a while the white bag will stain or fade in yellowish color?
