More Than One Way

Today is bag post day. Someone on twitter told me she missed my bag posts already, so I’ll hold off on the India post even if I’m still soooo hung over from that incredible trip (I swear, I am still so disconnected with reality!!).

Sometimes, you buy a bag and end up not using it the way it’s supposed to be used. But most of the time, you end up discovering that the bag can be used another way after you have purchased it– a pleasant surprise! I find a lot of ways to use my bags, and sometimes I end up carrying them in a rather unconventional style simply because I like it better that way.

Perfect example, the Michael Kors shopping tote.

“Jet Set” Tote
This bag style is a staple of Michael Kors, and you will be happy to know that it is a very versatile, light, and fairly affordable bag (we’re comparing this bag to the price of other premium designer totes available in the market).
I have the canvas version of this bag. I have never used it as a tote (as intended) like above. Instead, I’d take out the straps (thanks to the removable belted straps– a BIG plus), and use it as a clutch!

I folded the bag over, and used a small pochette inside the bag to put all my stuff, only because the MK tote came with the snap button enclosure. This will save me the embarrassment of having to pick up personal stuff should they spill out for the whole world to see 😀  *Lawrd knows what kind of stuff I have in my bag when “accidents” like that happen hahaha*
A closer look at my tote- turned- clutch. I love that those belt buckles “hang” loosely from the body of the bag.

Folding works best with softer canvas totes

Here’s the total look:

Too much animal for the day: Spots and Stripes!

I thought the leopard spots on my shoes and the zebra stripes on my bag made for a funky combination in a safari-esque way. Most of you might find that a wee bit too much, but hah, I had fun with them 🙂 Now all I really need is a bagful of mosquito repellant creams, and that free trip to Kenya. I’m practically dressed for that trip already 😀
You can find Michael Kors bags at Nordstrom Online.

How about you? Have you discovered more than one way to use any of your bags? 🙂
