MFW SS 2013: Furla Into the Light

Light. Creative director Fabio Fusi answers me that one word in a nanosecond after I asked him what inspired him to create this season’s perforated bags.

The body design came from “shades and light”, he says, referring to the perforated/ laser cut-outs (headlined by the signature Piper lux bag)

which allowed light to go through on the Venus bags as well as the signature Piper. From black and white photos which showed variations on cutouts with plays on light which allowed the shadow patterns to be imprinted onto the face , Fusi went on to execute that same principle onto this season’s bags.

My favorite bag goes to the Venus doctor bag which is by far the lightest doctors bag I’ve ever carried. Beautiful monochromatic shade of a black body against a white accent on the handle.

The Venus also came in white, with black trim on the handles

Meanwhile if you don’t so much mind a slightly heavier version, you can go for the all- leather basic black doctors bag which I think was designed so beautifully.

These are the undeniable classics in this coming season’s collection. Fabio has also happily shared with me that they will be bringing back the Amalfi bags (which I know where a really, really big hit with clients– it was sold out in a few of the shops I had asked).

Not to be outdone by the newest member of the Furla family are the signature Candy bags which many have become big fans of ever since the bag came into being. Fusi also implemented that same concept of light by making this coming season’s Candy bags transparent.

A play of jewel tones and degradé, the bags are also a sure hit this Spring/ Summer 2013!
