I.Love.Capri. to the 100th Degree

Capri is really luxury vacation central. You’ve got the best shops (shrunken in size, but still the best shops) like Dolce & Gabbana, Hermes *which was still closed the time we were there*, Missoni, Hogan,  Prada, Moschino, Gucci, Alberta Ferretti, Bottega Veneta,

Miu Miu,

Louis Vuitton,

Tod’s (which just opened 3 days before we arrived, woohoo!)

a boutique that carries Longchamp and Furla bags

Ooooh the colors!!!

and even a big Salvatore Ferragamo store for men and women (separate stores, take note!)

*It should be noted that Ferragamo was spot on some decades ago with the color- blocked platform which you see below :)* (photo credit: Google)

Now this would be the perfect shoe to own for Spring/ Summer 2011 😀
Capri has also become photo op central for this bag hag, thanks to my new photographer brothers and nieces *yes all 4 of them love my camera now lol*!! And that’s coz I just felt girly (hehe and purdy) to want to have photos taken 😀 *tsk feeling pretty doesn’t always translate to looking pretty as in my case almost all the time lol*  I actually hardly wear a skirt when I travel because it’s almost always so cold, so it was a real treat to wear this skirt in Capri- the weather called for it!!* Give me credit for wearing a skirt, please! haha 🙂
Cue Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous music with matching wind blowing in the face scene… LOL
Ok this photo shows the obvious disappointment after that first photo because…. (read photo captions)

…obviously there was no drama, no background music, and at that time, no breeze LOL! *oh and dare I say, no Rich and Famous? hahaha so I just pretended it was happening and got lost in that thought. Delusional much? LOL*
And now my brother’s best “paparazzi” shot below *hahaha we couldn’t stop laughing at this photo because I really seemed to play the part of an annoyed celebrity (wannabe only of course hahaha) now if only that finger on the left that pointed upward wasn’t the first finger… tsk hahaha*
Trying to werq the look of an annoyed beeyatch. hahaha ok, sooo not happening! LOL I couldn’t perfect the “pursed” lips look!
You should also know that my iphoto album just gained over 1,500 photos of ME *the photos don’t even include the ones I took of the scenery and of the food!*, thanks to the shutter- trigger happy brothers and nieces!!! (they just pressed down hard on the shutter release button so the camera went on this continuous shooting mode!!)

Cam whoring aside, we all had a nice early dinner at a restaurant called Ristorante Da Giorgio.

I had to stifle a laugh when we went into the restaurant because there was actually an Italiano having dinner there who looked just like Giorgio Armani (it couldn’t have been him, unless he just had a new baby girl :D)

And now, enjoy my version of food porn! 🙂

Insalata Caprese

The best insalata Caprese comes from, natch, Capri!!

Ravioli served with pomodoro, steaming hot!

My nieces devoured this… in less than 10 minutes 🙂

Spaghetti with Tomato and Mussels (cozze)

Very flavorful!

We all love clams. This was fantastic!

Sooo fresh!!

I relayed to our server about how much I love tomatoes and he came out with a plateful of freshly sliced cherry tomatoes with the freshest basil, tosses it together with some extra virgin olive oil and says to me that this is the best!

This was indeed the BEST tomato- basil salad I’ve ever tasted in my whole life

Our server has a grandchild already 🙂 He’s young at heart. Here he decides to make the lobster his mobile phone hahaha 😀 Good thing that lobster didn’t have the claws to clamp onto his ear or OUCH! 😀

Goofing around with the freshest catch of the day: Lobsters!
Oooh I would’ve wanted to eat you but you’re spared 😀
Instead of lobster, we had the freshest snapper. It was beyond fresh, really. For me, fresh fish requires very simple preparation. So I asked for them to just grill the fish, and serve it to us hot off the grill. And we will accompany the fish with the fresh tomato- basil salad that was prepared minutes before.
The chef prepared a nice aglio-olio-basilico dressing on the side for the fish. What I did was sprinkle a pinch of salt and some freshly ground pepper on the fish, drizzle with olive oil dressing, and squeeze a little lemon juice from one of the slivers provided. Ooooh it was SO GOOOOOD!!!! *I can still taste it right now haha*

This was by far one of the BEST light/ seafood meals I’ve had in Italy with my family. When I do go back to vacation in Capri, I am definitely having dinner at Ristorante Da Giorgio. Food + Service was top notch!! Ristorante Da Giorgio is at 80073 Capri Napoli. Tel. 081 8375777

After that meal which was really worth writing home about, my eldest brother DC and I decided to walk off what we ate and checked out the Quisisana Hotel side of the island.
Walking back to our hotel

Hotel Quisisana is situated on the street where all the designer shops are 🙂 It’s like a mini Rodeo Drive 🙂

See that top right balcony with the large arch? That’s the balcony of my room 🙂
Here’s a quick, rather unprepared video from my balcony. I feel that I really stuttered a lot here, but I hope you don’t mind! The idea is for you to see the view from my room’s balcony so pay attention to the scenery! 🙂

More Capri love tomorrow– and this love will not end that quickly *I’m still so hung over from Capri!  :)*
