Food Blog: Uncle Cheffy at Burgos Circle

When I ran into Jane Kingsu- Cheng of Forever 21 last week, she mentioned having eaten at this new place at The Fort’s Burgos Circle. The restaurant was called Uncle Cheffy. That very night after Jane mentioned this place, I found myself having dinner there with Philippine top photographer Patrick Uy and my travel expert friend Claudette Vitug.
As it turns out, Patrick knew the owners and well, and whoa, I found out I too knew one of the managing partners when I got there! I’ve met and known Chef Larry Cortez from his days at Le Souffle, to his days at The Manor, and later at Duo in Serendra. And now, Chef Larry and his partners put up Uncle Cheffy and we were there on the 3rd day *or was it the 2nd day* to try the food.

Tom Yum Soup– it’s actually more Filipino than Thai. I think they should name this Sinigang Soup 😀

Cheffy’s Steak– 4 people can share this dish. VERY affordable! Loved this– ask for extra gravy!

The Panizza is very, very good and is a must- have!

Beef Ribs. Very tender!!

Oysters- I love the tangy taste of these, as they were topped with green mangoes. So good!!
Chef Larry was wonderful and had given us the Beef Ribs and the Panizza to try, and I have to say that those 2 are must- orders. What I didn’t care much for was the Tom Yum Soup *because it didn’t taste like tom yum at all* which could’ve easily been renamed as Sinigang (because it tastes more like sinigang, and that said, it was quite good).
Cheffy’s Steak is very large and can easily serve 4-5 people. I was hungry, so I ate the most out of us three *what else is new haha– I always end up eating the most!*. The oysters are wonderful because of the rather unusual pairing with diced green mangoes.  🙂
The food at Uncle Cheffy’s is very family friendly. Portions are large, and prices are very reasonable. And above all, the food is very good. You can expect gourmet food quality for the price.
Uncle Cheffy is located at Unit C Bellagio II Forbes Road, Forbes Town Center, Rizal Drive cor. Burgos Circle, Bonifacio Global City. For reservations, call (+632) 659- 8030. I’m definitely going back to Uncle Cheffy’s with family as I know they’ll enjoy it there. Go check the restaurant out for yourselves!
