Embassy aka Chanel land + Bag Review

Wow. I had a migraine the whole day today. It’s a rather terrible feeling, especially if you have so many things that you need to do, and well your head is literally “weighing” you down. And though the spirit was willing to get out of bed, the flesh was just too weak. So I spent half my day in bed. I know, I know, you all think I’m such a pig for doing it, but I think the stress for the past week (preparing for Tresorie’s upcoming sale on November 29) finally caught up with me. It’s horrid actually, because even though I was already quite “sick”, I still found myself hauling ass to the Embassy Club party. I know, I don’t know how to prioritize my health *hmmm rest or party, party or rest?* , but I cannot say no when we got the invite to the launch– after all, this is my cousin’s big event! (Heck even my DM— *yes, my mom!!* was there at Embassy *past midnight* when we arrived! Talk about “supporting the family” :D) Besides, you all know the reeaaal reason why thebaghag decided to attend: Mrs.T can’t really refuse free drinks and free munchies *muwahahaha ok now THAT was just plain pathetic. And irresponsible. Hahaha but you all already know that :D*.

I espied plenty plenty peeps at the event, and well, I guess my mind was barely functioning that I didn’t immediately take photos *my mind was focused on the bar, the bar, the bar… anything to kill the migraine please!!!*. Of course when the drink came, I nearly screeched with glee *well it doesn’t take Mrs.T a lot to be happy when she’s got a nasty headache*, and I briefly hung out with the Go gals, Lia and Kathy. (Don’t ask me what I was wearing, I couldn’t even pull off a decent outfit tonight, so there)
Apres a good drink, this baghag had good sense to check out the chic ladies and their bags. I espied plenty plenty Chanel! Oh-la-la Embassy is total Chanel kingdom! 🙂 Too bad my camera battery died (great, it just HAD to do that tonight. *grunt*).

Ah if only Coco were to walk into Embassy, she’d be greeted by this:

We’re talking all sorts of the classic flap Chanel. In caviar, lambskin, in red, cream, white, beige, black, gray, plum….
There’s even that new Chanel croco quilt satin flap bag!And there were also a number of Chanel timeless clutches. I lost count of all the Chanel bags I saw.

Sigh it was just bag heaven and I wish I had actual photos of ladies carrying them. 🙁 *Note to self: CHARGE the camera battery nightly!!!*

Believe it or not, after all that eye candy, my migraine just disappeared! I didn’t realize that bags can cure migraines now *and let’s toast to that please!*. If anything, it got me all inspired to surf the net and post more bags 😀 I must admit though, I’m still on that evening bag/ clutch “high”. So here are more for your taking!

Lotus Arts De Vivre Handpainted Rattan Clutch. Oh how I love the detail of this clutch. It’s the perfect marriage to a classic little black dress (LBD). Priced at US$1,500— though this bag is on the pricey side, beautiful detail is simply too impossible to ignore. All you really need is a simple solid colored dress (black works best), and you are soo ready to go! Available at vivre.com

Celestina Wood Framed Croc Clutch. I love this bag because it is made by our own (go Pinoy!). This box clutch looks like a small piece of furniture– and that makes it perfect not only on your hand, but also on where you decide to park this baby (i.e. the bar, the dinner table… ). Incidentally, Celestina already opened at Greenbelt 5, so we local baghags can also enjoy the very same pieces that are carried at Barneys and at Vivre.com.

Aranaz Coco Loco Bag. I looove this color. I love the occasional quirk in my bag closet, and this bag seems to scratch that itch *hehe*. If you are on a tight budget, but enjoy that one-of-a-kind evening bag, this is it. I would personally “hand” carry this bag instead of use that shoulder strap, but hey if you are carrying a drink, the strap comes in handy! Priced at US$189.99, this is really a steal! (Available at bamboocloset.com or Aranaz at Rockwell Power Plant Mall)

And speaking of green, you just have to love this green Fendi logo detailed box clutch. Perfect for the logo-a-gogo loving baghags who enjoy those nights out. To wear again with your tireless LBD. 🙂 Priced at £712.51 at net-a-porter.com

Clara Kasavina python clutch. I’m all for the more elongated shape of the clutch– it works better for me because I can stuff more junk inside the bag 😀 I especially like this pewter serpent clasp. It’s really a sleek bag, one that will get you noticed. US$875 at vivre.com

Ok enough evening bags/ clutches/ minaudieres for the night. There are plenty peeps who’d rather not go out for drinks at night (and that should actually include me since I already get these aches and pains and what nots… haha a sign of old age perhaps? *Pffft age is a state of mind!! Am I in denial or what?!*)

Renaud Pellegrino Paris/ New York tote. This is a beautiful bag, but I won’t pay this price (US$2,060) for it, simply because I know I can get a similar bag much cheaper than this in the same style too! Local baghag VerushkhaG made totes very similar to this style in leather, and they’re priced about US$170. And her bag preceded Pellegrino’s 🙂

Here’s one worth checking out. Anya Hindmarch Plaited Leather Shoulder Bag. Tired of seeing all those canvas “I’m not a Plastic Bag” totes *ugh especially those hideous fake ones*? Try this new Anya bag. The detail is quite amazing. The wrapped leather laces meet in the middle to form the Anya signature– the bow. Priced at an astounding US$995 (for the detail and all, this is a good price). Oh and check it out, the handles resemble that of the one used for the famous eco-friendly Anya tote.

Alessandro Dell’Acqua Grey bag with Gold Hardware. A very interesting tote indeed. The cinched “belt” on the bag ties onto the front pocket. It’s got that faint Marc Jacobs feel, but the design is all Dell’Acqua. The leather of the bag looks soft and luxurious to the touch. I do wonder how this feels in real life, but the bag’s worth a test drive for sure. If you’re not a logo crazy baghag, this tote is a good alternative. Priced at US$1,800 at vivre.com

Whoa, it’s already wayyyyy past my bedtime and I can feel a little throbbing again in my head. It’s probably that migraine. Again. My shoulder blades are pulsating (a sign that my daybag is seriously too heavy to carry on the shoulder), and this leads to that migraine *or at least I’m inclined to think it’s the cause*. I better take out my books inside my beat-up Goyard tote 😀 Who knows, perhaps I’ll learn to carry a clutch during the daytime 😀 It’s been done, so why the heck not 🙂

P.S. Congratulations to JoyL and her hubby/enabler Mr.V— another baby baghag is born 🙂 🙂 🙂

P.P.S. Sorry for shamelessly promoting this, but I just wanted to inform the baghags who are in Manila that our TRESORIE cash break pre-Christmas sale will be on November 29, 30, and December 1. Selected bags from Tresor, D! Luxe accessories, and Tinsley clothing will bec specially marked down for cash payments. So do drop by if you can find the time. There will also be number of unposted Tresor designer bags that will have special cash prices (promise, we’ll give you a sneak peek of what bags will be on sale very soon :D)
