Designer School Bags?

Wow my kiddies are lucky– for thel ast few days, they’ve had to hang around in the house (instead of school) because our DepEd suspended classes due to the typhoon (The so-called typhoon because I don’t see the strong winds… haha). It’s hard for me to show disappointment to my kiddies (I have to pretend that I am sad that there is no school because “I would miss my schoolmates if I were them” haha.. so pretentious of me!)

School actually isn’t really all that bad anymore, especially since that’s an avenue for you to *ahem*show off your new big bag. I do know a few peeps who now carry a Goyard bag to school. I died of envy that they could tote something so expensively chic while their pockets contained an amount equivalent to a regular student’s meal budget (trust me, they don’t bring their platinum cards to school haha).

With school in mind, I can only think of this– what would satisfy a “happening” student’s *ok, an uptown gal then* bag taste?

Marc Jacobs Pan Am Bag. Yay! Finally finally, my MJ bag is here, courtesy of MsB of LV (and with much help from MS). It’s a pretty big bowler, one that can easily fit your school books and then some. And it’s less than US$100 too. I love the bag for its kitschy appeal. And hopefully these bags are still available at Marc Jacobs boutiques across the US.

Prada Antik Cervo Dome Bag. Gray is THE color for this season and it helps that this is a nicely shaped bag too– and Prada! Again, let me stress that Prada has continued to impress me with her bag collections. Way to go. It was really time to let Prada shine once again since I am so tired of seeing those microfiber/ nylon bags. Now This bag is more like it! Priced at US$1,750 at neimanmarcus.com

Burberry Nella Mesh Satchel. A rather interesting bag this is, especially since I’m not a fan of Burberry (I do get tired of monograms/ logo repetitions/ signature looks every so often– that’s proof that a little too much of everything can be bad :D). This bag did catch my attention because it is silver, and it seems like a very agreeable bag to carry. I like that “nip tuck” in between the bag, although this style doesn’t differ much from Alexander Mc Queen’s £780 frame bag which I had seen at brownsfashion.com sometime ago.

Sigh, if only we had the bag budgets of these celebutante students, then the possibilities would just be endless. Think Traina sisters carrying their Hermes birkins to class. My ego would love to see me carry that bag to school again (that could very well be an incentive for me to go and take up my post grad studies haha), as I throw around my books inside it, but my pockets would be bleeding of pain from it, so, no. This baghag, though pretentious and all, still reserved some kind of prudence in choosing a relatively more inexpensive bag as the daily schlepper. Maybe when I reach the caliber of Martha Stewart, I’d have no qualms about carrying a birkin *muwahaha Martha Martha where does your garden grow? (K-Mart song)*

Anyway, hags don’t forget to drop by the Rockwell Urban Bazaar tomorrow and Sunday at the Rockwell Tent– Tinsley Clothing, D! Luxe Accessories will be there, as well as Ilaya Couture, Madhuri, Tilka. Tinsley will have some fantastic Tees that I am already loving– One of it says “Mrs. Jackpot” *ding ding ding, that’s me!!!* 🙂

  3. Designer school bag, reminds me of my high school. Even some primary kids carry an LV to school. Senior kids carry no namers to Juicy Couture to Chanel (unfortunately, no one’s been spotted carrying Hermes to school; but the mothers do…) Costume National shoes; and Prada for Games (aka PE).
