Celebrity Bag: Gwyneth Paltrow Rocks the Valentino Rockstud Trapeze

Gwyneth Paltrow’s style is really effortless. I’m a fan 🙂

Time after her conscious “uncoupling” with rocker hubby Chris Martin, she steps out in New York with another “rocker”– a red Valentino Rockstud Trapeze Bagicon!

Gwynnie (haha what are we, best friends now?)  kept the sides of the bag tucked in, but the bag looks much better with its batwing sides exposed like this:

While I love the Rockstud shoes, I wasn’t really too keen on the Rockstud Carryallicon in the past.  In fact, the most “studs” I could think of carrying would’ve been the Rockstud Clutch. Only because I am quite averse to bags that have too much hardware on it. But somehow, Gwyneth just made the bag look ultra cool. The leather of the bag is not overly thick which makes the bag so much lighter to carry– perhaps to compensate for all those studs! It also has a detachable single strap for hands-free carry.

I honestly wouldn’t mind owning the bag in that bright red shade like Gwyneth’s, or in a more neutral taupe color like this one:

Actually, looking at the taupe bag above, I realize that it is made with better rough- and- tumble leather as compared to the red or the black version– this pebbled leather is less prone to scratches, and somehow the bag in this shade looks classier without losing that original idea of it being rocker edgy. The red and black versions are without question, very rocker chic, but this taupe one spells classy rocker chic– and yes it’s actually possible to pull that whole juxtaposition of class vs. rocker off 🙂

The Valentino Rockstud Trapeze Bagicon (in different colors) is available for purchase HERE.

  1. This post is about a year-and-a-half old, but I’m still loving Valentino’s Rockstud accessories. After admiring them from afar for a few years, I recently bought the soft tote and a medium trapeze tote in black. (I like the shoes but seldom spend more than $300 or $400 on a pair of shoes, so I’m yet to take the plunge on footwear.) I must say, I’ve been surprised and disappointed by the quality of my bags. The soft tote is an extremely soft, squishy nappa leather, and despite hardly being carried the straps are showing extreme signs of wear. The wax edging is cracking, deep wrinkles have appeared on the handles, and it feels like they’re going to start coming apart and will need professional repairs. I have the black trapeze tote in the smooth leather, which is a slouchy calfskin, I think, and I wish I had gone instead for the pebbled leather. The scratching isn’t bad (I handle the bag with care), but it loses its shape pretty much immediately if I put anything in the bag. The handles have held up better, but they’re also starting to show cracks in the wax edging. If one uses the removable shoulder strap, it absolutely loses its trapeze shape altogether and sags in the middle. The bags look great, but the quality is disappointing for the price, and given the illustrious reputation of the brand.

    1. I feel you. I have an LV bag that I spent so much money on and the waxing seems to have melted due to humidity! 🙁
