I’m currently in Shangrila Boracay for the MAC Cosmetics Spring/ Summer 2015 trend report- presentation and was about to blog a bit about my stay when the photo of Dakota Johnson carrying the Chanel Boy with tone-on-tone logo caught my eye.
If you notice, there is really a serious absence of covetable bags this season (at least until the coming of the Loewe Puzzle Bag designed by J.W. Anderson). So most of the bag- loving peeps end up sticking to old favorites, and brands monetize that demand by creating different variations of the same style. The Chanel Boy has been in the collection for some time (and its popularity has made it a staple in each bag collection), but this time, the rectangular lock logo is tone- on- tone. The patent one on Dakota Johnson has actually made it look very plastic-y, very Lego-ish. It is a cute bag no doubt, although I am still not convinced on the hardware color, as it seems like a rather striking break from the brightness of the red color. Perhaps something in ruthenium or matte brass would’ve worked better.
And sigh, Chanel, the prices of the bags are getting steeper and steeper. But double sigh, your bags are just really so irresistable! 🙂
