BAG REVIEW: Louis Vuitton Spring/ Summer 2008

Louis Vuitton’s Spring Summer 2008 collection has made it to the catwalk!! Unlike my previous post where all I felt like having were subdued colors (or lack of color hehe) like beige/ eggshell/ stone/ dove gray, LV’s S/S’08 makes me wanna throw a technicolor bag party!! 🙂 *I ought to do that, actually! I betcha it would be so much fun!!!*

The technicolor party starts with this bag: No, I won’t even dream of owning this bag because well, ostrich= mucho expensivo. I’m actually not fond of this color combination, but it sure is happy 🙂 Nice watercolor- like monogram work on the body of the bag. It’s very artsy.

Is this bag very “mod” or what? I like those little side buttons, and the colors are quite “lookit me”! I’d wear this with a solid colored coat dress with big colored buttons 😀 (but we know I can’t pull off a coat dress.. tsk)

Here’s something that you can conceivably carry more on your arm or hands. Niiiiice! (Spongebob Square pants! as Marc Jacobs had mentioned– don’t we all like Spongebob :D)

Ok, I’d really love to carry this bag, and I love that it has those words on the bag, with a little bit of monogram. Plus the bag has a shoulder strap!

This bag though, doesn’t do it for me. It looks too cheap. Light washed denim color mixed with satin multicolor (?). The denim colored material looks like suede. Suede just doesn’t do it for me– especially since we live in the tropics. I don’t mind suede as the lining, but not as the exterior material of the bag.

I’m really, really thinking about this beautiful Speedy frame bag. I can’t stop staring at it!!! She is just gorgeous!!! *heart heart* This would be the bag that would make me come back to the color red! *I’m willing to give up my best bag for this one hahaha* Beeeeauuuuuutiiiifulllll!!!!

Or THIS! A Black technicolor papillon with the same snakeskin (?) or lizard skin handles. Yummmmmmy!!! I can’t wait for this! *dialling the digits of LV boutique to get on the list hahaha LV peeps if you are reading this, Puhleeeease I want this baaaaag or the Speedy (ok, I’ll take the Speedy thank you haha) :D* It’s sooo lady-like to carry this bag. I know it’s a tad small, but I can imagine this bag with some cute skirt and those gloves. C’est chic, non?

Now this is a nicer combination than the one above (which has the same material).I love, love, love this bag! It’s really so playful! I don’t know if I can carry a bag like this, but I certainly wouldn’t mind staring at it!

This top handled tote reminded me briefly of Fendi, don’t ask me why. I love the print on the bag (or is it called a caricature), it’s so The Simpsons– by the living room and presumably in front of the boobtube 🙂 If you notice closely you will see very faint monograms on this psychedelic purple bag.

I’m really enjoying all these colors! Aren’t you? 🙂 I know it may be a bit too garish, but at this point in time, we all need something uplifting and well, the injection of color into this collection is really a welcome change from all the “ho-hum” bags that were produced by other fashion houses over the last few seasons.

Whoa, an ostrich alma. Almost looked like a Hermes bolide there. But hehe how cheeky to have that word “Alma” on the bag. I betcha local actress Alma Moreno would love to have that bag on her arm 😀 *teehee it’s perfect for her!! Hello, it’s got her name on it– literally!* The frame on the bag doesn’t really work with the bag though. *Sigh* Why is ostrich so expensive anyway.. Looks like a “Fabio” fan club meeting 😀

The Furry Speedy with the caricature (is that a salesman selling something to a couple? Or is that a client who caught the boss with his secretary? I love these little situationals– it’s real fun to interpret!). I like this bag, but doesn’t this sorta remind you of Juicy Couture? Terrycloth is to Juicy as Faux Rabbit Fur is to LV? Hmm does that pan out alright with you? It’s very kooky though 😀 Note again, the monograms on the faux fur body.

Ok you all (not all actually, some of you maybe haha) know how I feel about brown bags… *blech*

Here’s another one from the caricature series. I noticed that the woman is always sitting on the man’s lap 🙂 I’m actually liking it! Like doesn’t mean I’ll buy it. I betcha these babies cost a lot.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Spring Summer 2008 collection. It’s really nice to look at. Perhaps most of these bags just look good on the runway, but I can already tell you that the Speedy and the Papillon are hot bags to own! I’m loving them both and seriously am lusting for them. I can’t wait to see them in person– I only hope Vuitton will make them for public consumption 🙂 We baghags deserve to see those bags up close!!
