Wedding Belles: The Hiltons + Paris’ Big Bag Theory

Up until today, I am still not done poring over the wedding photos of Nicky Hilton and James Rothschild.

I think Nicky made a very wise choice to look every inch a traditional bride in heavy lace. She was regal and immaculate in Valentino.

She joins a list of beautiful women who chose to don something more traditional than on- trend.  Think Grace Kelly of Monaco:

Catherine of Cambridge:

And also Marie Chantal Miller (MCM) of Greece. Incidentally, Valentino was also the wedding gown designer of choice of Princess Marie Chantal. Although MCM’s father reportedly paid $250K for her gown, while Nicky’s cost $75K.

Here’s another look at Nicky’s beautiful gown:

Really, so beautiful, like a fairytale princess! 🙂 Now, the same can’t exactly be said of sister Paris Hilton. I adore Paris, but I think her choice in carrying a large bag for her sister’s rehearsal dinner while wearing a stunning black gown really ruined her look altogether.

Perhaps it was a better choice that she did carry a patent bag in black (to match her shimmery gown) but hey, even if that was a Chanel bag that she carried, it was big, bulky, and just much to casual to schlep around whilst wearing a formal gown.

I understand that as chief bridesmaid, she might have had to bring a lot more than what would normally fit a minaudiere or a small clutch bag. But I think sartorially, it would’ve been much wiser if she had chosen a sleeker bag to match her beautiful gown. She could’ve also gone with something a little more fun, in keeping with the wedding theme by carrying this Sophia Webster Happily Ever After Clutch
icon.

At least it’s also fun and cheeky 🙂 Because again, that jumbo Chanel bag’s leather- chain straps did absolutely nothing flattering for her style that night. And yes, even if it was a classic Chanel flap bag it still looked too bulky for the occasion.

That said though, I think Paris and her sister Nicky looked gorgeous throughout the days that led up to Nicky’s marriage to the Rothschild banking scion. I feasted on all these photos, and I’m pretty sure a lot of girls did too 🙂
