Vegas Travelog Day 3: Food post and Bye to Vegas!

We walked along Caesar’s Forum Shops some more since we didn’t really get to check out all the stores on the “other side”.

Ice Accessories has the most extensive collection of accessories by different individual designers (nice ones too from Chan Lu).

There was a jewellery store called Fred (which I thought was Fred Leighton, but isn’t I think). They had a spinel drops necklace and a nice big emerald cut diamond ring(a bit chunky for my taste, but I know what I can do with that center stone haha).

There was kiddie retail heaven (and parents’ retail hell hahaha) at FAO Schwartz (yes, that big Trojan horse *hehe*), and then at the end of this area was a cul de sac (Cheesecake factory!!) with an aquarium full of nice fish 🙂
Exotic Cars anyone? 🙂 Forum Shops are the playground for boys too, not just us hags 😀

Just Cavalliall those animal prints (are just not for me) 😀

We had dinner at (one of) Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant, Chinois. Ok, for starters, the prices were like *gasp* quite high. But when the dishes came out, we knew that the price we paid was well worth it. Dishes were not exotic or anything but they just tasted a lot better somehow (or is it because we’re in Vegas haha).

Wonton Soup– this soup tasted like barbeque pork soup 🙂 It was good though!

Omasake Sushi roll– now this is a spectacular dish. Maguro rice and avocado rolls topped with Spicy salmon. Fantastic!

Orange Beef and Curry Shrimp (2 dishes)– I personally like the curry shrimp better, but DM says she enjoyed the orange beef much, much more.

Thai iced tea was our drink of choice. It seems to be our drink of choice on this trip to North America 🙂 Our bill came to $78. I know, yikes!!! But it was a gastronomical experience (the sushi did it for me).

We headed out to MGM and we passed by Paris (Eiffel Tower) and also Smith and Wollensky (they have some pretty lethal looking steaks there and I hear they’re great– but I have yet to try them for myself).

Got to MGM and walked around a bit before showtime. Heyyy Emeril Lagasse has a restaurant here! Anyway, our show is part of the Cirque du Soleil installation, called KA. This time I was not so lucky, I didn’t get photos except for this one. But then again we were so far out in the audience 😀 DM said the show was good but I personally didn’t like it as much as Le Reve. (I actually almost fell asleep watching the first half 😀 Shhhhh).

The next day, we checked out of Caesar’s Palace before lingering around the malls again *hehe natch*. Of course by this time, I didn’t get anything anymore (for myself anyway). I got toys for the kiddies 🙂

Soon enough, it was time for us to head to the airport. There’s New York, New York and MGM hotel’s lion (huge!)
On the way to the airport, I was thinking this Vegas trip was just so short 🙁 I would’ve been able to meet up with MS and mcDreamer’s sister MsB if I had stayed a bit longer 🙁 But we really needed to head back to San Francisco, because my DB was arriving already. Check out the airport– it’s EMPTY!!! I could’ve played the slot machines, but I was already too broke to even cough up loose change for them *muwahahaha donations anyone?*

So the day after, my DB came into town. This was so much fun, like a family reunion of sorts, with missing elements of course, but I felt like a college kiddo again 😀 (oh but I really miss my DH and kids *sniff*)

When DB came in, he was so jetlagged that he just slept and woke up at 9pm *hahaha and that could’ve been me!!*. We were waiting for him so we could all do dinner out. We ended up at an old Chinatown haunt called ABC Cafe (I know, how creative could the owner get with that name hahaha).

DB ordered the Hainanese chicken rice
DM
ordered congee and the salt and pepper squid
and I ordered my fave dish (from this restaurant), Curry pork chop rice
and a side order of the fried chicken wings (this is a favorite among the HK/Cantonese people for “tea”)– I know they don’t look so appetizing, but believe me, they taste better than KFC!!

We were so full that DB and I were wide awake til 4am *haha we were sooo bloated!!*.

Ok, I’m actually getting sleepy now. And yikes it’s already 3am 😀 More foodtalk tomorrow!

xo
