Travelog: Late Dinner + LV Bangkok + My long lost friend!

It was a little past dinnertime. The kiddies were left back at the hotel since they were just too pooped to go with us. Right in our hotel is this shopping arcade which housed a boutique that carries names like Jil Sander, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga. There was a nice blue Balenciaga twiggy there. Priced about 63K ThBaht.

On our way, we passed by Louis Vuitton 🙂 They were already about to close. And I really see no reason to visit the boutique since I already was told that LV prices there were almost the same as Manila’s LV prices.

Yay, after a short walk, we got we got to Central Mall. It really is summer! Check the pink ladies out 🙂 After a walk around this mall, looking for a place to eat, we ended up in this chain restaurant called Coca.

Ordered Hainanese Chicken, Prawn Rolls, Sharks Fin Soup (I wonder if this is sharks fin soup because it’s really cheap), some roasted appetizers (pork, duck, chicken), then duck ham with jellyfish, oyster omelet (or something of that sort), and *woohaa feeling adventurous* crocodile meat! I also ordered the Grass jelly drink with milk (I didn’t even realize they can be mixed together– it’s yummy!).

The food was not that great to be honest. The only distinguishing dish from this restaurant is the duck ham which I particularly enjoyed. Sharks Fin soup was well, ok. We just saw a lot of sharks from the Siam Paragon Ocean World the day before, so I was not exactly interested in shark’s fin soup. But croc meat, I am willing to try. I’ve had it before while I was in college, when our international students group went to this Cajun restaurant. I ate a lot of this dish, thinking it was chicken, but then bah, one of our professors had to spoil it all for us by saying “How’d everyone enjoy the croc meat?” I have never tasted croc meat cooked in black pepper and bean sauce, so I was willing to try again. Did I like it this time around? Not really. The meat was rather tough. I think ostrich meat would’ve been more appealing to me (if we are talking exotics!! haha… gross actually).

Important thing actually was, we already had our “fill” of food and were ready to hit the sack. So we walked back to our hotel on the “bridgeway” where this photo was taken.

We also decided to pass by the Buddha shrine to say a little prayer before heading back to our hotel for a good night’s sleep 🙂

P.S. OH MY GAWD, I am sooooooooooooooooooo kicking myself in the head because I finally heard from an old friend of mine, AndrewB (aka Shroffy), who is apparently now in Bangkok– and we weren’t able to visit him while we was there! If you hags remember before, I had asked you all to pray for his recovery. Well, he has moved from the UK to Bangkok to continue his treatments! Wheeee we are geographically closer to him now!! To Shroffy: I’m sooooo happy to hear from you again!! And for sure we will be seeing you soon!

xx
