Travelog: Hong Kong’s Upper House

There are really so many good hotels in Hong Kong. Enough good hotels to service the multiplying number of tourists in this city that almost never sleeps! There are the old time favorite hotels of many tourists like Park Lane and The Excelsior in Causeway Bay, Shangri-la, Conrad, and Marriott in Pacific Place- Admiralty,  the Mandarin Orientals in Central, and then hotels in Kowloon side like Langham, Intercontinental, Mira, and the Peninsula. Different tiers in terms of quality for different budgets.

For the longest time, Peninsula Hotel is considered the most luxurious hotel in Hong Kong. The hotel has a very old world feel to it, but is equipped with today’s most modern amenities. And while Peninsula Hotel is the reigning king of Kowloon hotels, it is safe to say that in Hong Kong Island, the Upper House definitely has the upper hand among all other luxury hotels within the vicinity. It is also safe to say that this hotel is one of the best I’ve stayed at– among those on my best (most impressive in terms of amenities and services) hotels list are Hotel de Crillon Paris, the Drumoland Castle in Ireland, and the Peninsula Hong Kong (all of them came very highly recommended by my travel expert friend Claudette of CV Travel).

I had the pleasure of staying at the Upper House some 2 years ago and I have not forgotten the experience. Today, I got to relive that. Upon check-in, the guest relations manager was more than accommodating. She showed me to the room, and only told me that I am getting an upgrade to the “top of the line” room, the Upper Suite.  Let these photos speak for themselves:

The entrance to the unit. Yes, unit 🙂 Not just a hotel room. *This is where I wish I could say “Welcome to my apartment” lol*

Sprawling view of Kowloon from the living room

The king- sized bed in another room, also with a breathtaking view

Oh and if you aren’t tired of the view yet, here’s another room with a view!

I was so happy to have been able to take in the views from the bath tub 🙂

The shower area (mid- left) can probably fit about 6 people– haha can throw a mini cocktail party there 🙂

What a view, right?

The Upper House. The perfect hotel for a staycation 🙂 The Upper House is a member of the Preferred Hotel Group.
