Travelog: Geneva to Gruyere (2009)

Back to regular programming 🙂 *Boy, all these interruptions! My bad :D*

Here’s another photo of our hotel in Geneva (Hotel de la Paix). If I have a house one day, I think I’d like my floors like that. At least in the foyer *hahaha boy am I ambitious or what! But no matter, it’s free to dream, darnit!*. I really enjoyed our stay in that hotel. Wonderful bed (large bed with very high thread- count sheets I’m sure– coz I slept like a log!), beautiful room, and a full view of the lake. The breakfast at this hotel was topnotch!! 🙂 *I highly recommend this hotel for those who want to visit Geneva*

We passed by the United Nations (we didn’t go down for photos anymore since we have photos with this chair already somewhere in our old albums *which we never bothered to dig up hahaha*).

Then of course, what’s a trip to Switzerland without popping over to check out shops that sold cuckoo clocks!I grew up with a few of these clocks that my parents bought for me (they bought the basic small ones) when I was about 6. Of course those clocks didn’t last a month with me because I kept yanking the little swinging “milkmaids” hahaha. I still have these clocks too– they’re all dead though. Doubt if they can be resurrected… but then again, maybe I should dig them up and have them fixed 🙂 *Coz I was too cheap to buy these clocks for my own kids hahahaha… knowing what they can be capable of doing if they were like me hahahaha*

We left Geneva and proceeded to pass by Lausanne (we were originally going there but decided we wanted to stop by Gruyere since we wanted to have CHEESE!!!)

By the way, off topic, I just wanted to share with you this cool bottle of water that I got in Paris 😉 I wanted to hold onto this bottle for the whole duration of the trip but I ended up tossing it out after Gruyere.

Ok– anyway after some hour or two, we arrived in Gruyere. The little town was “up there”. And during winter, it’s all covered in snow 🙂 🙂 🙂 *dreamy look*

Gruyere is really famous for CHEESE. When I crave for fondue back in Manila, I go to Swiss Inn (which by the way, is already very good). But now, I get to taste the 100% real thing 🙂

We climbed up to get to town and ate here.
A Block of Raclette (yes, 3 of us finished this)

On top of this CHEESE FONDUE!!!!
*Drooooool*… I think I’m going to step out to Swiss Inn after this blog post is over for some fondue hahaha.

P.S. Thanks Oli for teaching me how to screen-capture some of my text message conversations to save on my Mac. Didn’t even know that’s possible *duh*. Goes to show how dumb I really am when it comes to my electronic gadgets.

Speaking of gadgets, I attended the HP event upon invitation of both CecileVS and DaphP
with guests like GraceV
The Quiambao sisters
and MyrzaS(who walked away with a new HP!!!)

and am now considering getting the HP Mini Vivienne Tam notebook for an upcoming trip. Any thoughts on the speed of the computer? I love the look, the size (compared to the Vaio, it’s bigger but hey, price-wise, this HP is SO much “friendlier”! I likey likey!), but my one concern really is: I’m not used to working with a Windows based operating system. I plan to use this computer for photo uploading and for internet surfing, and maybe a little word processing. Will I have a hard time? And should I get one? (confession: I do want one… I’ve been wanting a small laptop– take note, small, not thin *or I would’ve succumbed to a Mac book Air already* for quite some time now). Help!

  1. hi mrs baghag, i love you and your friend’s blog. Its on my reading list and I visit this few times everyday, anticipating for new posts. Im also an avid reader of yours and CVS’s columns.

  2. Hi Ingrid! I got this VT HP for my birthday. Actually it is a gift from my husband and the VT HP got his seal of approval. He even said that this version is much faster than the HP mini note. For surfing, browsing and word documents, this computer is good. I can even run two videos at a time. I got a lot of compliments, too because of the very nice and unique design. I must say go for it and don’t forget to buy the matching VT mouse.

  3. i love my HP! the only thing that i didn’t like about it is its keyboard. the letters are written in gold, with a red base color, and its not lighted. but it’s no biggie actually, maybe i’m just not used to typing on a smaller keyboard… im an HP user so no fuss whatsoever… but if you’re a mac user, i think you won’t enjoy windows… some mac users find windows “user-unfriendly”…

  4. Hi just wondering if any of you have the same problem : some of the pictures on your blog don’t appear and when I click on the picture, it says image blocked.

  5. Hi Mrs.T,

Just my 2cents. Couldn’t help you with the Windows OS if you’re not used to it, you could try…

But i’m really loving my Netbook…sure the specs are limited, but if you do use it for internet(blog, browse etc) it’s good. After uploading photos, save it on an EHD. Don’t add too many stuff, use your other laptop for that.

i now find my other laptop, too big, too heavy, after using my peony laptop. haha

pretty & handy..sure does get a lot of attention & admiration when i whip it out of my bag (Not those Ugly laptop bag, of course) LOL

  6. Khaz: I know, right? Cecile’s bag really kicks serious bootie 😀

twopenneth: Thank you for reading us 🙂

PAO: oh yeah. I was a happy camper 🙂

BL: no actually i dont have a problem with it, but yours is the first i’ve heard that had the problem… did you try using another browser?

Hunniebunch: I tried daphne’s HP and I couldn’t even get it to shut down. Hahaha goes to show I’m pretty dumb with gadgets. I also think the red keyboard is a bit distracting when typing, but then again I don’t look at the keyboard often. But I like it still. I’m still looking for the Sony vaio. Alas, none at Rockwell. But tsk, I’m too cheap to shell out 60k on a laptop. I wish Apple would just shrink their MacBook Pro 🙁

Anon on kikay factor: Hmm… you got me there 😀
