Travelog: Flying Qatar Airways to Paris

I’ve always been a diehard loyal passenger of Emirates Airline, having had a consistently lousy experience travelling with Etihad to Europe (search my blog for the experience). This trip to Paris though, I am flying Qatar.

The flight from Manila left at 5.50pm in the NAIA 1 Terminal. I haven’t set foot in this terminal for awhile now so I was pleasantly surprised to see a Starbucks cafe near the departure gates. That said though, the other areas are still not great, and the shared airline lounges are really lackluster in the comfort department, if I may be allowed to say so. It’s really much nicer to just stay in the common areas of the airport– I mean yay, there is Starbucks and another cafe beside it! That or you can go one floor up and book yourself a massage, which was what I ended up doing. US $25 for a 1 hour massage 🙂 Bliss!

The airline seat of Qatar Airways was not as comfortable as Emirates (or maybe I was still a bit sore from the massage haha) but the service was really excellent.

The airline staff were very friendly and hospitable. Top points on that 🙂

The food on the menu was pretty diverse, and what’s great about it was that you can asked to be served meals at any time during the flight. I had the light veggie soup and the grilled chicken and papaya salad for dinner. Spicy but very good 😉

The inflight entertainment is more limited and I think this was why Emirates is award- winning in that category. But doesn’t matter because I was able to watch 2 movies that I had missed when they showed– The Intern (Robert de Niro & Anne Hathaway), and The Martian (Matt Damon).

I was shocked– I bawled my eyes out with The Intern!

If you haven’t seen it yet, go watch it. It is funny and also very heartwarming 😉

Landed in Doha after the 9 hour flight– I did not sleep a wink because after the 2nd movie, I ate again hahaha. This time I had a grilled chicken and cheese ciabatta and downed it with Earl Grey tea. DUH, of course I’d be wide awake after that. Smart one, Ingrid! LOL. So I just ended up working a bit 🙂

The airport in Doha is big, but it doesn’t seem as massive as the Dubai one so it’s actually quite nice and “manageable” to navigate.

LOL I didn’t get lost!! Just find the Big Bear Lamp!

The business class lounge is cuuushy.

It looks like a hotel 😉

I am still trying to settle into my seat before looking for the food station– again LOL.

Ok, so I’ve been loading up on food. I only saw a table full of pastries but I want salty food lol. Gosh I hope they serve savoury dishes! I’ll eat, eat, eat but only because I know I’ll walk this off in Paris 🙂

Anyhoo peeps, time for me to check out this lounge. It has its own map so I reckon it is pretty big LOL.

All good with Qatar Airways so far… I do hope they have a buffet table full of savoury food though LOL. My flight boards in 1 hour so I’ll just chill for now 😉

Update: The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the lounge

And I’m having super yummy food

P.S. Paris fashion week (menswear) isn’t over yet and the Givenchy show is happening in less than a day as of this post! Watch the show live HERE.
