TRAVELOG: Bag Review in San Francisco

Yay *woop, I mean, oh no*, I am gaining weight as I write this post. All we’ve really been doing lately is eat and eat. Forget shopping because as of today, I have not found any more bags that appealed to my umm…taste (err wait, haha like I ever did have taste. Taste to me means anything expensive haha). But that could just be my finances talking (my defense mechanism postulate is as follows: wallet no more money= can’t afford new bags= bags all ugly hahaha)

So!I finally got to take photos of the Jean Paul Gaultier detective bag to compare it to the Michael Kors belted bag. See for yourself the similarity (or difference).

Jean Paul Gaultier
Michael Kors
Don’t do look oddly similar?? Hmm…so what’s your verdict on this one? (although I must admit I like the MK bag because there was a patent blue version!)

I also saw a Bottega Veneta intrecciato tote in those colors (someone tell me what these are called– the colors which sorta blend into another.. Is this called monochromatic? ‘Coz these are not the same colors though…)
The bag is not long enough for those manila envelopes or folders, but I think it’s lovely for the working executive. It’s very classy and updated (the color is quite modern– you will see that Prada also worked with similar shading for their bags)

Dior. Ok I might offend Dior addicts out there, but I honestly have yet to find a Dior bag that’s beautiful enough for me to want to own. This bag below certainly doesn’t convince me in the smallest bit. I woudn’t have paid $$ for this bag because I’ve already seen this design somewhere else. Makes me wonder how Dior is doing, what with the cutthroat designer bag industry these days (I reckon Chanel would come out on top of that industry– with the exception of Vuitton of course).

Marc Jacobs bugatti bag in crocodile leather. Now this bag has some kind of “wow” factor. Well for one, it’s made of croc skin in a cool, icy blue color with shades of gray. Two, the bag is nice as it is (even if it wasn’t made of croc)
The bugatti has always been a classic style. Hermes, Louis Vuitton, and even Chanel have done this style over and over again. It’s a style that will remain for more bag years to come. I dared not ask a sales associate for the price because I just KNOW I’ll never be able to afford this bag in this lifetime (and in my next few lifetimes haha).

Oooh another croc! Bottega Veneta men’s tote (or at least I think it’s a man tote haha). I would sooo not mind owning this bag even if it’s in a neutral color (I love croc in brights, remember?). This bag just spells luxury to me.*sigh*

Ugh, and lastly, this isn’t about a bag but a pair of shoes. I’m soooo lusting for this Prada open toe heel. I love how the heel seems to defy gravity, with the way it was sculpted. I don’t really care for the embellishment in front, but oh how I love this shoe. I saw a very similar (less embellished) pair at style.com and wondered then if Prada Manila would ever carry it. No matter, I think before the trip ends, I must find it *hahaha obsessed*. I think I’ll worry about paying for them later… that is, if I can even find them in my size! Neiman doesn’t have the shoe anymore! And the stand-alone Prada boutique was already closed when I got there.

Dinner time! We went to eat at Crustacean. Practically world-famous for their baked crabs. The restaurant is owned by a Vietnamese family (the An family). They started out as Thanh Long in Judah Street, San Francisco a loong time ago. I still remember getting driven there (while DB was in college in SF). And since then, they’ve expanded to open in Downtown SF (which is where we ate), Beverly Hills and in Las Vegas! (Business is goood because the crabs are excellent).

Check it out. I finished this whole crab on my own. The price of one whole crab used to be something like US$21. It’s now $36 (Just like bags haha, but at least this price jump isn’t as drastic as that of bags!)

We also ordered garlic noodles. I love dipping my noodles into the oil on my crab plate (which is made of butter, crab fat, salt, pepper). I felt my head get all woozy afterwards, presumably because my cholesterol level just jocked up.

You know what though, what’s life without a little enjoyment of sinful food? I had to indulge. After all, there’s always a way to go back on diet *muwahaha salad everyday– without dressing hahaha* For the peeps who plan to go to SF, you must try Crustacean at 1475 Polk Street SF. And you will need to reserve in advance. Tel. (415) 776.2722

That’s all for now. My aunt and I need to run some more errands 🙂

P.S. Just a kind reminder, if anyone wishes to use the photos I posted here, please do inform me or at least credit this blog for it. Hope you can respect that coz it’s real disheartening to see peeps “lift” photos from other websites without giving the image owners due credit. Really appreciate it! 🙂 *Oye I worked hard to get you these images haha. I have to lug around ahuge camera and position it discreetly to take these shots. Otherwise I would’ve been thrown out of the stores haha*

  1. hi mrs t! your blog is so entertaining. everytime we travel to the US, we end up staying in SF too. so i’ll be sure to try out those restaurants next time. btw, i’ve never been much of a fan of the black and tan goyard, but when i saw yours, i found it so cute! the multicolor paint goes well with the color of the bag. 🙂 enjoy your trip!

  2. It’s called degrade’ not sure about the spelling…but thats what Prada came out with in patent this season.

  3. Yes it’s called Ombre according to NM and some other sites i think.

AND although i am a huge dior fan, that bag tt u featured makes me ill, it is so HEINOUS u wonder whether galliano even designed it

  4. hi mrs. t, the mj bugatti bag is called carolyn. i love the hardware on it as well. next time you’re in the mj shop, check out the sasha. it’s very similar but it’s a satchel type of bag. it’s also a patchwork quilt and has that same hammered lock on the side. i’d love to hear your opinion on both bags as i still have yet to decide which one to get. 🙂 gracias!

  5. what do you think of the Hermes Evelyn PM? Saw one today at the boutique and I liked it. I’m torn between the red and the white. BTW, saw the Victoria, very nice!!! they had it in blue jean here in Boston.

  6. Hey! I like the MK better! And yes, it’s called “degrade”. As for the shoes, Prada in GB5 has that pair! Zara has a similar one in patent finish! What’s your size? I know they have 39 & 40.
