Top Five Bag Classics

I have been meaning to come up with a bag list for the longest time and finally I get the chance to sit down and actually write one up. Today, it’s all about classic bags. You know, the ones that you can keep in your closet for years and years and still whip it out for use and not feel that the bag’s lost its “touch” (aka: is outdated, style-wise).

Louis Vuitton Speedy:

Take your pick. Monogram Canvas remains the bestseller, but there are also other versions like the Damier Canvas (if you’re OC about the “patina” effect of leather, then this is better for you– the dark leather handles will not develop an obvious dark patina over time). Then there are the different colored epi leathers to choose from as well.

Hermes Birkin: Sure, these bags are expensive but they are definitely worth the purchase. The bag was “born” in 1984 and yet very little (at least nothing cosmetic) has changed about the bag’s look.

I recommend a black or a gold (tan) colored one if you plan on just owning one bag. These 2 colors are neutral enough for everyday use and you can actually get more mileage out of them as compared to colors like turquoise (seen above), although a bright colored birkin is quite hard to resist! 🙂

Hermes Kelly: Ahhh the Grace Kelly Hermes. There is really no need to reiterate why this bag belongs to this list!

Tod’s D Styling Bag. There have been many versions of the Tod’s D bag, but this is the one I recommend the most.todsdbag

It also happens to be one of the best- selling styles of the brand. Carry this bag five years from now and it’ll still look current because of its sleek lines and very appealing shape. I prefer this over the newer “batwing” D bags too. This design is a classic.

Chanel Classic Flap. I’m not going to lie. I was never a big fan of the 2.55 style. Because when I think of Chanel, I think of the classic flap.

I also happen to prefer the vintage ones because they seem to be made better. I often scour vintage shops for good Chanel bag finds but these searches have been fruitless– because even the vintage Chanel classic flaps have become so expensive! I’ve recently begun finding the Chanel boy bag appealing– only because I saw one of the pieces from the current Paris- Edinburgh line that was visually interesting. Will that propel me to fork over my wallet’s contents for one? Not necessarily. I think I’d still stick it out with a Classic Flap (haha in Croc please– after all, if we must dream, we should dream big :D)

So there you have it. The top five bags I consider classics. There are of course more that belong to this list, so don’t worry, I will be coming up with more bag lists soon!

Happy Wednesday, everyone!
