Thebaghag on Valentine’s Day 2007

I must’ve been in dire need of a makeover to have been invited to a press-only relaunch of the YSL beauty products and cosmetics line, now under Lux Asia *guffaw, think thick and unruly brows… channeling Ugly Betty*. So anyway this socialclimbing and freeloading baghag trooped over to Mall of Asia in the afternoon ( oh and we decided to forego the luxurious ride over to the Big mall via a Jaguar *compliments of Lux Asia* and took my school bus haha) for the relaunch at Marionnaud.

There’s the woman of the moment, former Metro Magazine fashion editor TrishChua who’s now with Lux Asia 🙂 We came out to support TrishC *Wooohooo!!* I sooo loved her dress, her makeup, her earrings. She looked stunning!!

CarloTadiar, editor-in-chief of Metro Home and Metro Him was also present, seen here with Urban Zone host DaphP who was carrying her trusted LV monogram Speedy30 aka Pandora’s bag 🙂

DJMontano whom I haven’t seen in eons was also there.

Preview editor-in-chief PaulineSuacoJuan carried her beautiful Balenciaga City.

In the distance was Marie Claire’s RorieCarlos
And Lux Asia’s MiaNolascoCuenca. She’s so glam!

It’s funny because I hadn’t eaten lunch yet and I had downed my antibiotics earlier in the day with just a cup of green tea frap. And at the launch, I was downing 2 glasses of champagne while wolfing down yummy Bizu treats!

I got my makeover *WOOHOO I FINALLY GOT A MAKEOVER!!* from makeup artist RicciChan (seen here doing PaulineSJ’s makeup), while DaphP got her eye makeup done by JennyTan. I walked away from the makeup corner with teal blue eyeliner/shadow. Whoa, I was actually beginning to like the feeling of having some eye makeup 😀 I am a total makeup virgin and RorieC couldn’t believe that I don’t even know how to put on lipstick (fine, go ahead and laugh, it’s true!). Ok, so all those years of working in a magazine and sitting in on photo shoots didn’t really do much for me– the magic of those very talented makeup artists didn’t even rub off on me *such a shame, no?* But pffft I always say, no amount of makeup can make me into a beauty goddess *muwahaha ambitious little twit I am* Nan Kempner, God bless her soul, said that the older you get, the bigger jewelry you should wear so no one will look at your face.. I’m hoping that’s true– I’ll just wear matronic accessories *hahaha*

But anyway, RicciC did wonders to my eyes and my face just lit up! Thanks to all those YSL products used on my face. Makeup DOES wonders!

Apres makeover, I hung out with JetSet Magazine’s editor-in-chief LizaIlardeCuenca *loved the look on her eyes!*. Why, it’s Mrs.T (in a gray sackcloth shirt haha), flanked by LizaIC and DaphP 🙂
Oh hey lookie there’s someone carrying a black LV epi Speedy 30 🙂
Freeloader baghag alert: We each received a free YSL lipstick after the event was over. *wooohooo!!* Now it’s time for me to learn to apply lipstick 😀 Actually I am also eyeing this automatic foundation brush applicator that YSL has. It’s so high-tech! I’ll definitely be heading back to the YSL counter to buy that thingie as soon as I’m no longer broke 😀 hehe

Here’s my Valentines’ Day bag: I debuted my Chanel gray caviar jumbo 2.55 classic flap bag 😀 Loving, loving, loving it!!! Hehehe… *woohoo braggart!* And you wonder why I’m broke!! There’s your answer! *Sniff*

Now for the 4-1-1 on my hot date with DH 😀 We had dinner at this little almost-hole-in-the-wall Japanese restaurant in Salcedo Village called Nanohana. (Actually I can’t say it’s a hole-in-the-wall because this place is quite well known. Hehe I can hear the grammar nazi’s footsteps) This is my 1st time to dine here, but I’ve been wanting to try out this restaurant for the longest time because we keep passing by the place! It’s just that we never really get around to dining in new restaurants since I have this hankering for exhausting old haunts *think Kuretake and Tsumura, my eternal faves*.

We ordered the Seaweed Salad which was excellent! I should’ve ordered another one! *tsk regretting it*

An order of the Aji Tataki, which was alright ( But Kuretake still wins here)

Spicy Tuna Roll in Rice Paper, which was very unique and inventive.

And for our main course, the Wagyu beef steak, cooked Medium (price for this dish alone is Php 2,500 *sticker shock*).

Ok let me say this. I love steak. But now, I loooove Wagyu beef steak! Nanohana’s Wagyu is EXCELLENT and worth writing about. I’m still salivating just thinking about it!!

We complimented the beef with rice and miso soup. Our bill came out to Php 4,300 *gulp*. I was actually still quite hungry but I had to stop myself from ordering (you see, I am actually a glutton and although DH sorta thinks it, I’ve never wanted to make him think that I am REALLY one hahaha *shoot, I hope he isn’t reading this post!*).

My Valentine’s Day was very pleasant. I got a Vday card from DH with all these sweet nothings *heart melts* and I had a wonderful day with old colleagues and that makeover, plus that *salivates* Wagyu beef steak at Nanohana! *Gulp, I wanna go back again tomorrow…uh oh broke baghag!*

What about you hags? Whatcha all get for Valentine’s Day? A new bag, perhaps? 😀 SHOW AND TELL TIME!!! Email me photos of your new acquisition/gift at tresormakati@gmail.com 🙂

P.S. Nanohana is located at the G/F of Le Grand Condominium, 130 Valero Street, Makati City

xx
