South Lake Tahoe: Evan’s American Gourmet Cafe

Woke up on Christmas morning to below freezing temperatures– it was -6 degC!!! The whole house was still in dreamland because everyone slept so late, so I took the opportunity to head out just to take this breathtaking photo. There was a light snowstorm yesterday which brought fresh powder onto the iced lake. It was really so beautiful and so peaceful! This has been a gastronomically crazy holiday and since the diet went on vacation (all that health conscious mumbo jumbo went out the window LOL), it was “eat all you can til your tummy turns (nasty hahaha)” hahaha. No shame!!

Christmas eve dinner was spent in Evan’s American Gourmet Cafe, a quaint gourmet restaurant along Emerald Bay Road. I suggest you call in to reserve ahead because the place is small and seating is limited. The restaurant has a great selection 🙂 Started with Foie Gras that was complemented with apple sorbet. I’ve never had lobster cheesecake before and this was soooo good!!! Very rich and sinful but OMG sooo good!!! Chose the duck for my main course– magret de canard (duck breast) + confit (duck leg) with savory cranberry bread pudding. Cooked perfectly! And more than happily settled for the pear- cranberry crumble topped with homemade vanilla ice cream. Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset I really could not have asked for a better Christmas, having laughed so much and having worked those stomach muscles (yeaaaahh abs!!! LOL).  I hope that you all had a great one with loved ones 🙂 I’m going back out to play in the snow with everyone again.. and with our dirty little Chicken hahaha 😉 Enjoy the rest of your day and I hope it is a merry one! 🙂 x TheBagHag
