Serendra’s Polu Kai Grill + Firma Cocktails

I was running errands as early as 10am this morning, and I was croaking while I did them. Ain’t it just the strangest thing to see ME awake by that time? It’s even stranger to hear my voice– I told my new phonegalpal YRI that I sounded like a frog that got run over by a truck. But no matter, I was a responsible bee today– and proud. Just so I can make time to see my DM.

We went over to Serendra at 1pm to have lunch. DM and I love to try out new food. And today, DM wanted to me to try this Hawaiian restaurant called Polu Kai Grill (across A Different Bookstore). The place was pretty packed when we arrived– these were probably the last of the business executives who were finishing off their meals before heading back to their respective offices for another day in suit paradise 😀

DM ordered the crabby shrimp which was very flavorful.

I ordered the ahi poki– this was a dish I had ordered at a Hawaiian restaurant in San Francisco called Roy’s awhile back and I had liked it. I am hoping I will like this dish too.

Indeed I did. I didn’t even wait for DM to try it out. I finished it (Lesson learned: Never let a baghag go hungry!).

For our main meal, we both decided to share the cream dory fish fillet with rice. I am sooo totally recommending this dish because it was delicious!!! The fish was soft and the meat melted in my mouth. The sauce that accompanied the fish was perfect with the rice. Two thumbs up for this dish (generous serving too).

DM can’t really complete her meal with me without a shared order of dessert. Having both loved the pecan pie that our baghag friend Paz from Texas, DM told me she had tried the Polu Kai fried banana and had wanted me to taste it.

The brown sauce tasted exactly like the pecan pie. Oh this dessert brought back memories! (Paz, thanks for the pecan pie again :D). It was very sweet, but it was also excellent. And the bananas were swimming in the wonderful sauce. Another highly recommended dish for those who have an extra sweet tooth *like we do!*.

By the time we ended our meal, we were the only two left! Talk about being slow eaters 🙂 *Hehe we were savoring every bite*Hags, this restaurant does not close– they’re open throughout the day! So you can have that yummy cream dory fish fillet dish and the banana dessert anytime! And, it’s a pretty child friendly place, so you can bring your kiddies to eat here too 🙂

Polu Kai Grill is located at Unit 128- 130 G/F Shops at Serendra, Bonifacio Global City Taguig. For reservations, call (632) 901-1841. And while you’re there, say hello to the friendly executive chef and GM Nick and their baghag operations manager, Christine.

I went to another cocktail event tonight, Firma showcased Japanese woodblock prints– lovely must-haves for the home which were brought back by RickyToledo and ChitoVijandre on their last trip to Japan. Another well attended event it was, is all I can tell you. I was actually too embarrassed to move around because while I earlier had a pinafiore- like tux top paired with my hot Religioso shorties, I had to be so clumsy and stain the bottom trim of my shirt which sorta bled onto my shorts! *GRRR stooopid baghag!! This “accident” made me change bags! Ugh!*

I had to do a quick change of clothes before heading to the Firma cocktails. And I had to pick something juvenile- looking and ill-fitting to wear. Ugh. I felt like such a big fashion mistake, especially when Mega EIC CarlaSibal arrived with her black Hermes crocodile kelly! Tsk tsk, while I carried my purple Hermes Paris-Cannes bag *yeah yeah brag like there’s no tomorrow*, I was certainly the most disastrously dressed hag of them all. *Sob*.

Oh yeah, while I was nearly sweating profusely in my dress, in saunters TessaPrietoValdes in full geisha regalia, seen here with ace photographer Patrick Uy and his lovely wife Evelyn.

I stopped my silent whining about the a/c right there and then. I can only imagine how hot that outfit must’ve been. Poor Tessa! But hey, hand it to the woman, she pulls off her outfits so well all the time, hot or cold 🙂

Oh what a night it was! Another fun party attended by your socialclimbing baghag. This is the third night the row this week (social marathon, hellooo). Tonight, there will also be another cocktail party, this time hosted by the House of Monogram, Louis Vuitton. Where they will be introducing “Iconic Shapes”. Hags, it’s time to get the LV icon bag cum pandora’s bag– the Speedy!! The Damier Azur line will be launched in November still… But who knows, is it possible that they’d have one or two pieces of the Damier Azur Speedy? 🙂

Ugh, I better get some shuteye before I get into another one of my bag lusting spiels. It’s 6am!! (I was on the phone for 5 hours with YRI!! OMG!) I will take a break from blogging tomorrow and will resume maybe on Sunday– as soon as I get my work for tresormakati.com sorta done. My webguy Mr.N found a glitch in the database and I couldn’t get photos uploaded onto the site. I will need to get it fixed up. That is an emergency!

*Scream* I NEED R&R!!!!

  2. HELP! Is anyone seeing my most recent post about the blue bag? I can still see the Polu Kai + Firma post! I tried publishing my newest post but it came out with an error message, so I dont know if I’m the only one having trouble viewing my newest entry.

BY the way, I wrote “pinafiore” on this post. I meant to say PINAFORE. I was thinking also of Isabella Fiore at that time haha. Anyway, it’s pinafore. I don’t want anyone to be pointing out my spelling errors 😀 After all, I get pretty anal about it myself. I am my own copy editor *hehe*

Please please post a comment here to let me know if you can read my “Blues” post!
