“Productive Sunday” + TRESORIE PLUG!

I had a fantastic weekend and I hope you hags did too. For starters, I actually woke up early enough to get ready for a lunch thingie. DSIL called me the night before, asking if we were available for lunch.  So we ended up at Rockwell for lunch 😀

Soooo apres the Rockwell thingie, we went home and this gave me a chance to work on inventory for Tresorie’s upcoming sale *more on that below*.

By dinner time, I get an SMS from my yoga buddy CACL, who said she had cooked me and the famille Hainanese Chicken *which is a perennial fave of mine*. I was floored. Dang! And I thought I had a semi- productive afternoon 😀 CL: After you said you cooked me Hainanese Chicken, I had to rethink the words “productive Sunday” hahaha. So when CL had the food basket *complete with place mats and matching napkins too!* brought to my place (hand delivered too!), we excitedly untied the ribbon to taste the CL Chicken wonder 😀 And this is the actual punchline of the story. Mrs.T is proven to be an ingrate. I mean, someone gives you a food basket, you say thank you, thank you, thank you, right? *Muwahaha*. So we were already taking out the Hainanese Chicken Rice, spreading it on our plates. Then I go, oh where’s the chicken to go with this wonderfully fragant rice? And DH looks at the empty basket and says, “hmm is the chicken inside the rice?” And I was like, err… nooo, I don’t think so.. CACL told me to blanch the chicken in broth again before we eat it. But hahaha… where was the chicken? *puzzled*

This calls for the Baghag/food detective…. 😀

THE CASE OF THE MISSING HAINANESE CHICKEN: I sent CACL an SMS. The rice was fantastic and the sauces that she had especially made (take note, from scratch), were EXCELLENT. I had to give compliments to the Chef! INGRATE MOMENT IN 3…2…1 “Umm… CACL, where’s the chicken?”… Dead silence…. CACL exclaims “Isn’t the chicken in the styrofoam box?”… Dead silence… “Umm no styro here..”, I said. And then the shriek. “Oh my Gawd, could it be that I left it?”. Then we both laughed. Hard. Real hard. 😀 Missing Chicken was found after 2 minutes. It was left in the kitchen as CACL was packing it up in a hurry 😀 Gawd, I can’t believe I was such an ingrate, non? I should’ve just kept my mouth shut. Tsk tsk. OK, Mommy and Daddy taught me manners, but somehow I lost them tonight. Hunger pangs took over the better part of my brain hahahaha. Sorrrryyyy CACL and YL for being such an ingrate! In the end, CACL‘s hubby was nice enough to even offer to bring the chicken to us again– and that meant they had to double back for it. I had to say no. It would’ve been totally insane to go back and forth for a Chicken!! 😀 *imagine how silly that sounds? Hahaha* Anyway, in the end, YL and CACL agreed that the chicken will be sent tomorrow. But ahhh, DH and I have already tasted the sauce, and we can only anticipate how good that chicken is… And oh boy, the suspense!!! 😀 That chicken has been well- marketed and is very much in- demand 🙂 THANK YOU SO MUCH, CL and YL!! (Sorry if I was such an ingrate hahaha). But peeps, I’m egging CL to allow orders for her Hainanese Chicken 🙂 So if she agrees, stay tuned, coz I’m seriously plugging her Hainanese Chicken!!! (The sauces she made are to die for!!!)
