Paris Fashion Week: Chanel Couture SS 2011

Couldn’t wait to check the photos from the Chanel Couture SS2011 which ended just a few hours ago. So without further ado, here are some of my picks (all photos from Style.Com )

The first thing I noticed? Flats 🙂 It’s good to see flats reign once more. I was honestly beginning to think women’s feet will die a painful death sooner than later with all those 5- inch heels and platforms!
The couture collection featured a lot of boxy signature bouclé suits paired with skinny pants. I found it surprisingly pleasant to see a boxy, almost bulky jacket paired with a softer floral skirt– a very unlikely pairing in my eyes. There were also a lot of pastel pinks paired with blacks, and though silhouette isn’t body- hugging on most pieces, the collection still remained feminine and well, suggestively sexy. Some pieces also allowed me to look back on fashion in the 80s– especially the pale pink dress with puffy sleeves! *I can still remember a lot of gowns made with those puffy sleeves!!*
All I can say is, only Karl Lagerfeld has the right to pull off a collection like this one!

I can see myself wearing this. And it looks very comfortable!

Pale pink off- shoulder ruffled dress with covered buttons and the added contrast of a black bow on the side

I love this look. It’s very classic Chanel. Almost masculine, but still very feminine (the collar + the bow made it so)

Boxy Bouclé suit with glittery skinny pants

Classic!

I love this coat’s detail and those side- slit skinny pants

Very interesting details. The dress looks great with those flats!

Interesting color mix

The sleeves are very 80s, yes?

Dramatic, Unusual!

Long and lean.

The skirt’s lovely!

I always loved Chanel’s tiered skirts… I dream of owning one some day 😀 *dreamy sigh*

Beautiful!!

The sash-as-belt makes this outfit so classy!

Not too sure about this, but Kristen McMenamy worked it!

The Finale with Karl Lagerfeld

How did you like this collection? Share your thoughts! 🙂

P.S. On a completely different note, I wish to convey my deepest condolences to the families of the victims killed in yesterday’s bus explosion in Manila, Philippines. I just hope there is justice for those who died 🙁  Please pray for their souls.  🙁
