NATORI + 8 and a Half at Tresorie

*Sigh* I am still drooling over those Balenciaga pieces. They’re just really so fantastic and worth staring at for hours and hours (thinking I’d actually look good in those clothes hahaha… delusional again).

Speaking of clothes, I’m sorta in a clothing “situation” right now. You see, this socialclimbing baghag was actually invited to the Natori fashion show– I know, who in their right minds would invite Mrs.T, right? I mean I never got invited to the Monique Lhuillier show *which I was secretly dying to attend but was too chickencrap to crash hahaha*, and I certainly wasn’t expecting to get invited to Natori. I first read about Natori staging a show in Manila through the Inquirer article of Thelma Sioson San Juan. I thought to myself, “as if I should get excited, I would never be invited to that unless I actually forked over $$$ for a seat– and I can’t afford a seat! Plus, I’m quite certain it’s already fully booked too.”

Then of course I get the invite on the 23rd of February (or was it the 24th). Apparently, BDO is the major sponsor of the event. (Hahaha Thank you Mr.HenrySy and family!!! Hahaha– see, having to unofficially “endorse” SM got me an invite hahaha!! 😀 *joke!*) Tsk… Ok here’s the lowdown, I probably got invited because my mom needs someone to accompany her to the event, and I was the last choice *and the only available one* haha… But hmm we aren’t sitting together though. She sits with the bigwigs 🙂 Hopefully I get to sit with my other baghag friend Ms.A 😀 *She said she was in the same table as I* DH was pouting as I showed him the invitation because he didn’t get an invite (not that he really wanted to go anyway, according to him… but I brought up that Natori is known for lingerie and he pouted all the wider hahaha… Pst, DH, go shop at SM, spread the good word, and you’ll get a nod from the retail gods 😀 Teehee :D). Soooooo that said, I guess this baghag is attending the “First big event of 2008” after all *wheeeeee I guess that marks the end of my hibernation… for now anyway haha*.

Yesterday, when my super chic friend DaphneP *psst, I wanna sit with you too!!!* sent me an SMS asking what I was going to wear for the event, I told her I was just going to treat this like another bank event (among other bank events) and pull out some old frock from my closet to wear *methinks the classic Balenciaga dress which I had paid retail price for some 2 years ago… hahaha the cost still needs to be averaged down!!! or my Pucci – infused gown by Religioso which is soo fab*

Now, here’s the problem. I CANNOT fit into the dress. Yes, you read it right. I CANNOT FIT. I must’ve really gained about 10 lbs in the course of a month. This is SOOO NOT GOOD. So, you see hags, I can’t really wear anything from my closet now. I’m too darned fat for everything *bawls big time*. In fact, there was also this new royal blue dress I got from Ilaya Couture a month ago which I thought would also look fantastic with my Celestina minaudiere and blue slingbacks, but alas, I couldn’t fit into the dress without looking like an overstuffed tamale. 🙁 🙁 *That’s what I get for those nonstop visits to different shabu- shabu restaurants in this town of ours. Yes, two weeks ago, it was the nonstop devouring *ahem, binge eating* of Pringles tater chips. This week, it’s shabu shabu… Oh my I’ll die a violent death one day, food- related too, I swear…. SOB*

As of last night, I was at a serious loss as to what I was going to wear. Truth is, this is no “clothes emergency” because I’m obviously no celebrity so I don’t ever get asked to pose for photographs *I don’t go for photos, I go for free food, remember? Guffaw guffaw… shameless!!* But the thing is, I rarely go “out” anymore to attend these events (because I don’t get invited, remember, PNG? *muwahaha saaad*), so I might as well just look presentable, yes? *Ok, I know I am annoyingly fussing over this clothing thing… look, I feel like a Goodyear blimp right now, so please bear with me as I rant about my pork barrels and not being able to fit into anything 🙁 This is a crisis that’s quite comparable to not having shabu shabu tomorrow! SOB*

But then, this morning, I had an epiphany! *also, a light bulb popped up over my head haha* Before I segue into my so- called clothing epiphany, here’s a bit of a 4-1-1 related to it.

CLOTHING NEWS ALERT!! Effective March 1, *THIS SATURDAY already!!* we are going to have a New Clothing retailer partner at Tresorie! Yes! The store will be home to a new clothing brand called 8 and a Half and I’m palpitating with excitement! *Hafta to thank Sil for this!* More about the designer soon, but this much I can tell you– she’s been in the clothing manufacturing business for over 28 years *making clothes for well-known labels* and the quality is excellent! AND, Get this! She was trained in retail at Emmanuel Ungaro, and has even “dressed” Liz Taylor too 🙂 She is finally doing something of her own in retail, and I’m so happy that she is going to start it with us 🙂 *That, and we are dying to hear stories about La Liz and la bliiiing :D* Anyway, for the shameless plug, I want to invite you all to come visit Tresorie on March 1, Saturday, to view the new clothes of 8 and a Half. Oh and did I mention, the brand will also have men’s clothing? (Bring your man too!) Prices are very affordable and won’t leave a dent in your wallet, that’s a guarantee 🙂

Ahhh… Getting back to my bright idea this morning, I figured that I’d ask my new partner to make me something. Although I somehow know this is logistically impossible since 1. She does not have my actual measurements (I had to measure myself and relay the figures over the phone!), 2. She has only ONE night to do it, I took a chance and boldly asked her if it could be done. She said she will attempt to do it for me, although there is really no guarantee that I will walk the *ahem* red carpet (if any) with it, what with the time constraint. That and I think I gave her real inaccurate measurements of my body *muwahaha did I lie about my waistline? Snicker…embarrassing!!* Anywayyyy, I really hope I can though 🙂 🙂 It would be awesome if I did. This task would be the perfect gauge if she wants to go into the made-to-order business (we’re still persuading her haha).

I can’t wait for tomorrow (or rather, this afternoon). The event’s at 6:30pm, and for sure, I’ll be able to take photos of what I’m wearing and what bag I’ll be carrying 🙂

Some other bags that would’ve been awesome to pair with whatever I’ll wear:

Prada degrade clutch. I love this color. It will definitely “pop” out if you wear a dark colored gown… Priced at US$950 at bergdorfgoodman.com

Marc Jacobs oversized color-block clutch. Wow, I am so drawn to this pochette! Could it be because the bag reminds me of an Hermes? *ponder* Priced at US$1,275. Wait, wait, since when did clutches and pochettes (non- exotics) breach the US$1,000 mark??? *blink and gulp*

Fendi Artist Baguette. Ok I looove this so much because this is a piece that will NEVER be replicated or copied 🙂 It’s a paint-your-own baguette!! I think I’d realllly reallly like to get this. Then commission a good artist to render something on it based on the ideas that you’d supply. I’m soooo loving this!!! Priced at US$1,300 at bergdorfgoodman.com; Hmmm… The price won’t really be US$1,300 after you have some artist work on this bag. Lucky if you are the artist ;D But I love this, it’s brilliant. But as DH would say about shabu shabu restaurants *which would apply in this case*, why pay to cook your own food? (meaning, why pay a premium to paint your own bag?) *Ahhh I looove it anyway 😀 Let the artiste in you come out :)*

P.S. Sorry but hafta do a shoutout 😀 Happy Birthday Francis! 🙂 I can’t believe I actually know someone who was born on Feb 29 🙂 He’s eons younger than all of us 😀

x
