NAIA lounge + Dubai Layover

We were at the Ninoy Aquino Int’l Airport rather early for our flight because we had anticipated traffic on the road, but since it was fairly light, we had arrived early. I espied the Cora Jacobs boutique– Oh my Gawd, that little boutique is already an institution! I can’t believe it’s still there! DM says that Cora Jacobs was once something like a local designer luxe label… How true that is now, in a world of Vuittons and Hermes bags remains a question of whether that brand decides to re-engineer itself and market itself well enough to get the attention of well, the world– or at least the retail markets that matter. Sad eh? But at least it’s still there 🙂

Since we were early, we decided to peruse the First Class/ Business Class Lounge of Emirates (which is actually shared with some 3 other airlines). I didn’t bother taking photos inside the lounge because I didn’t want to sweat. You wonder why I’d sweat? Because the darned lounge air- conditioning is malfunctioning! Electric fans were the only source of cooling for the “vacationers” and traveling businessmen. It’s really ridiculous (I know, I know, talk about me harping– and I didn’t even pay for my ticket haha… and then have the audacity to complain hahaha.. tsk tsk typical me). Anyway, the business lounge (I think it’s called Club Manila) is really rather pathetic. Walls crumbling almost (hastily painted plywoods covered some parts of the corridor!), and my oh my, the women’s toilet is a case study. Leaky faucet, liquid soap all over the counter… in other words, dirty! Tsk. I’m sorry to be harping but it was really pathetic. Calling the airport administrator (or whoever should be responsible for this), please, please, let’s not shame our international travelers. They park themselves here and is this the supposed “Business luxury” that you provide them? Anyway, the next time I travel again and use that lounge, I hope it is better. It’s really in a sorry state. Darnedit they should just operate the NEW airport already!!! (The Philippine Airlines Centennial Terminal and lounge is sooo much better– they even serve dimsum and arroz caldo! And they used to have massage service too although they no longer do… thank you for my free miles, or else I wouldn’t have been even able to see the inside of the business class lounge when I travel solo! Hahaha).

Our flight left at 12 midnight, and after a sleepless night aboard Emirates Airline (too many movies to watch :D– watched Elizabeth, the Golden Age and Lions for Lambs), we have arrived Dubai.

It’s 6:15 am local time. And this was the airport situation. (Duty Free Shop is open 24 hours!) It’s bussssssyyyyyy!! I was told it’s THIS busy daily! I’m amazed. We walked to the Business Class Lounge of Emirates, and it was practically full too! Amazing.

This airport is sooo happening 😉 And wait, since I was in the Lounge, I did my inspections haha. This is what a business class lounge should be. It’s indeed world class. *Sigh, I better enjoy this “luxe” travel style, because if I travel on my own, I take economy… gotta have bag funds hahaha*

Anyway, I’m signing off now. We have a good 2 hours before we board our connecting flight, and I better get something quick to eat and then hit the Duty Free Shop! 🙂

Hope you hags are doing good!
