My Parisian Love Affair Continues…

You may already know about my love affair with Paris, but I will continue to inundate you all with details just because I wanna share 🙂

My latest Parisian trip entailed a stay at a quaint boutique hotel which has easy access to the markets. Yes, the markets, or les marchés. We’re talking pastries, chocolates, wet markets, roasted chicken, cheese shops… Anything food related!

Chocolat
Ham and Crevettes

Yummy pastries…
Escargots to go, anyone?
Stohrer (the oldest pastry shop *or bakery* in Paris opened by Louis XV’s pastry chef) has all these goodies. It was really heaven!
The “wet” market(it doesn’t even look like a dirty wet market… If I only had chopsticks, I’d dive right in. A little wasabi and a bottle of soysauce can go a long way here haha)

The rotisserie chicken with drippings that flavor the potatoes…. Oh my, too sinful. This is the site that greets me when I get out of the hotel! For a foodie like me, this area is really heaven.

The freshest vegetables
Artichokes!!!Fennel (PS dont know what made me think it’s celery root… !?!! Sorry about that foodies– you know I’m obviously not one who cooks or else I would’ve known the difference DUH :D)
My strategically located hotel. I love the façade… (when you look at the Accessory Lab façade, you’ll notice the similar frontage style… that’s because it was inspired by these Parisian boutiques and façades :D) My room was not big– hey, this is Paris after all, and if you want a big room, you can stay at the George V Four Seasons, Hotel de Crillon, Hotel Marriott Champs Elyseé, or Plaza Atheneé at Ave Montaigne (but pffft I can’t even afford a quarter of the suggested tariff!). My room though, was cozy enough to induce a good night’s sleep, and good sleep I certainly had (to think I have insomnia, right?).
Anyway, my hotel is a block from Saint Eustache.
One of my favorite places to take that token tourist photo
The coolest thing (apart from the freezing temperature) about being in Paris at that time was, Sale season (or Soldes)! Parisians flocked to stores like Zadig et Voltaire to buy piles of clothing. Too bad everything was cashmere– something we obviously can’t wear in Manila all the time (with the special exception of the movie theaters at Rockwell haha).

Went to Le Marais for dinner. Le Marais is a favorite place of mine. I pray someday I win the lottery so I can buy a nice studio in Le Marais. I even went to a real estate agency to check on prices of apartments here. We’re talking EUR 300,000 for a quaint little place– around 25- 30 sqm. (EuR 1= Php 65) *Yes, I was in shock too*

Dinner was at a place called Restaurant. It was funny coz it reminded me of Seinfeld 🙂 The place was actually called Restaurant Robert et Louise (but the sign was so small that it’s simply called the Restaurant!).

The Restaurant had an open oven at the heart of the dining area. Steak was the specialty, so I was only to happy to order steak.

I ordered the contre-filet, which was served on a round wooden cutting board. Served with roasted potatoes and salad. It was a wonderful meal 🙂 *Hmmm… I should go and have steak tonight…*

Special thanks again to Claudette of CV Travel (+63917 536.8545) who had planned out my wonderfully pleasant Parisian getaway at the very last minute. I had to mention her here again because she accommodated me despite my last minute requests here and there (sorrryyyy if I was a nightmare client :D). Anyway, short as my trip may have been, it was as always, extremely pleasant and unforgettable. I’ll be posting more on Paris in a few days. I need to get my work groove back.

Happy Weekend, everyone 🙂

  1. Hi Mrs. T! My husband and I stayed in the same hotel – HOTEL VICTOIRES OPERA for our honeymoon in 2005. It is indeed a small quaint hotel at Rue Montorgueil. Reminds me of the LV Bag 🙂 Nice to see your pics! i was reminded of the rotisserie at the end of the street. They serve the best chicken and price was affordable. Tasted great with the Vietnamese sauce. St. Eustache is a beautiful church indeed. I love the location. Je t’aime paris! 🙂

  2. Mrs. T,

Love the blog! I think though that the root in the picture is fennel 🙂
