Milan: Rich with Emotions on Day 1

I’ve finally landed in Milan! My afternoon has been peppered with a plethora of different emotions. Shall I enumerate them? 🙂

Frustration: I arrived Milan and frustratingly waited at least 1.5 hours lining up at the immigrations counter inside the airport as 3 other flights had come in at the same time. Apparently there weren’t enough immigration officers to handle the influx of tourists. There were 8 lanes and only 5 were open. And there was no queueing system in place. It was a marketplace full of unruly tourists (haha I was one of them). But the good thing about that? More tourists for Milan= more money for the city 🙂

That Warm, Fuzzy Feeling:  I was reunited with some old friends and it was heartwarming to see them again– and I will be catching up with them more in the days ahead 🙂

Uncontainable Excitement: I was so excited (we’re talking like a child that was given carte blanche inside a candy store) because I spent the rest of the afternoon inside Roberto Cavalli’s showroom– while Mr. Cavalli and his team were busy casting models for the upcoming show. I played with clothes, shoes, bags– dream come true for girls who love clothes, shoes, and bags 🙂

Resigned: I thought I was slim and quite fit already before I had left for Milan. Only did I realize I was wrong once I passed by the models waiting for their turn during casting– I had to pass by these models to get to the private showroom. Hooo-lyyyy… These models were half my size and practically twice my height! They really are from out of this world (I swear they’re not human!!! lol). No point in trying with extreme difficulty to lose weight, seriously. If you are not born with the body, you might as well embrace the reality and accept what you have (be grateful, damnit! Lol). Ok confession: for dinner, I decided I was going to have a plateful of grilled veggies (I admit they were very good though) 😀

Panic:  I returned to my apartment for the night (I move to my old apartment tomorrow but for tonight I am staying in a new place because the other apartment is still occupied and occupants leave tomorrow), I realized I could not open the front door with the key that was turned over to me. I stood there, staring at the iron gate, trying to find a way to rattle the building neighbors into buzzing me in. My apartment has 2 gates and I reckon I had the key to the 2nd gate but for some reason the key to the first gate was not working. I was too stunned to think of anything else. Yes, deer in headlights situation. And then I panicked. LOL *yes, I panic. Often :D*

Desperation: I realized I could call the apartment owner *smacks head, D-UH?!*. And when I dialed the number I had, it turns out it was the number of the agent. The person I was coordinating with earlier. Apparently the owner who had met me to turn over the keys was different from the person whom I spoke to over the phone. And oh, I think I woke the agent up. LOL bad. After a few minutes, I was given the number of my old apartment’s owner (she was the one who had arranged for me to stay in this apartment overnight before she has my things moved to the other place once the current occupants leave). And so I called her and oh boy, answering machine. I was desperate. I tried to call again. This time, she answered after the 2nd ring. Honestly at that moment, I was already thinking of camping out at my friend’s hotel room. Which meant I’d have to wake up extremely early the next day to head back to my apartment.

Relief: My old apartment owner calls this new apartment owner and I find out that to open the gate, I just need to pull the key out about 1mm after I insert it in, and then turn it and voila, it will open the gate. Tsk, temperamental gate, I thought. And the gate opened! Hooo boy. After the biiiig sigh of relief and profusely thanking my old landlady, I was in the apartment again. And now I blog 🙂

I am winding down now because tomorrow I need to be up early to get ready and pack again (so the suitcases can be sent out to my old apartment). If you have twitter, I update regularly on twitter.com/thebaghag (please do follow me there). I also have instagram– as “thebaghag”. So please add me there.

Tomorrow (err rather today, because it’s already 1.20am), I am attending 4 (or 5) shows. I will be updating twitter often so stay tuned 🙂 Can’t wait!

Milan Fashion Week and the craziness associated with it has officially begun 🙂
