KUNG HEI FAT CHOY + Bag Review

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO ALL BAGHAGS AND THEIR FAMILIES 🙂

Last night, my side of the family with my DH and kids went to dinner at Prince Albert at the Hotel Intercon for Chinese New Year’s and also to celebrate DM’s birthday. Eeeps, I still haven’t picked out a gift for her. It’s really hard to find something for my mom, but I better start looking. This is the only year where I wasn’t able to pick out something for her. Tsk tsk. I’m getting bad. And I call myself a “shopper”. Hmmph. At least I don’t proclaim to be a style maven! *actually I proclaim to be THE fashion victim*. (Psst, Natasha: That’s the reason why I don’t like posting photos of me here. Because I am not really proud of the way I look. And it’s more pleasant to look at just bags being carried 😀 At least I won’t get clobbered up in person too hahaha… Faking anonymity!!).

Dinner for me consisted of only the most sinful gastronomic delights (natch!)

Pan fried Goose Liver with Mango chutney in filo pastry — Ok, this appetizer is still VERY good, although I noticed that their goose liver got much smaller than the last time I ate here. Hehe… oh dear, I hope they really don’t “forcefeed” the geese like I was told…. I really hope they don’t. Otherwise, it’s real sad 🙁 *I still refuse to believe they do. My friend told me it wasn’t true… but if it is… Oh my… Sob!!*

The ladies’ cut prime rib (150g) with steamed veggies and siding of *small* baked potato and Yorkshire pudding (on a separate plate)

Holy crap, would you look at all the fat in one side? I didn’t eat that *this time haha*. But I was just thinking what a waste of meat it was. 150g – the fat = what, 100g of meat remaining? Call me jaded, but after that Wagyu steak at Nanohana, this steak was just not up to par with my “meat” standards anymore. Blame it on all those steak from Nanohana, Alexander, Broadway Prime 🙁 I think I would’ve enjoyed the steak at Gulliver’s a whole lot more.

Even all our kids (which included DB’s 2 kids) who came with us and had the spaghetti and chicken, said they preferred Jollibee 😀 *muwahahaha now THOSE are my kids! Used to all the cheap junk food that hotel food is just baaad hahaha*

Service was also not that great, despite us having a big room all to ourselves. Waiters were real courteous, but they were just slow 😀 *I was so hungry that I ate a bit off the steak already before the horseradish came hahaha* I was actually thinking they could’ve given us a little plate for the horseradish ahead of time, instead of serving it after the prime rib was already sliced off the carving cart thingie because the steak was getting cold. We used to regularly eat at Prince Albert when my Daddy was still alive. It was his fave place to eat here in Manila (before Gulliver’s came along.. but by then DD had already “left” us *sniff*). Food quality has sorta gone down (while prices went up, yikes!!), but at least I got to enjoy the foie gras still *oh my cholesterol!!*

For dessert, I had pears poached in red wine. Now this, I liked 🙂 It was different from the regular fare. Drat, I could’ve ordered souffle actually, but I forgot. Bah. *thinking, pears are less fattening, no? hehe*

When we got home from the family dinner party, I went back online to look at bags *sigh my virtual happiness haha*. And I found this real pretty white bag.

Banana Republic Chalk Bedford. For just US$248, you can enjoy a white bag without worrying that it’s high maintenance. Think about it this way, better a US$248 than a US$1,500 bag right? And this bag mixes style with function, with those 2 pockets. I like this bag. It’s got that Prada-marries-Tods kinda look.
Available at Bananarepublic.com

Whoa, as I am watching TV now, *Superman is showing on HBO* I spied an LV Monogram Canvas Steamer bag– as carried by actor Richard Pryor! Drat, didn’t have the camera at hand, but there he was, lugging a fully packed LV Steamer in the movie! Whaddayaknow 🙂

Ok back on topic now. Hehe sorry got distracted. Here’s the Stella Mc Cartney Metallic Bag. For a faux metallic leather bag, US$1,195 is a pretty expensive price to pay. While I like the look of the bag, I was turned off to find out this was just faux leather. Too bad, it’s quite pretty too. Available at neimanmarcus.com

Here’s an article I picked up from the Philippine Star a few weeks ago. I thought it was really interesting– hehe handbags as the key to luck? I’m all for it 🙂 Enjoy the short read! *hope the font is large enough!*

P.S. My friend wants me to sell this Gucci bag. It’s still very new, and bought in a recent trip from Italy. It’s a very pretty “Maple Drive (LV)” type handbag, with signature colors of Gucci, as well as the Gucci logo on the whole body of the bag. Asking price for this is Php 25,000. Text if interested in this. (+63916) 7580857.

Gotta get going peeps. I think today I can rest a bit!

xx

  1. Hey Mrs T! Can you give us the scoop on the Goyard metallic bags? Is it true that they will have metallics this year? Do you think they will have a St. Louis PM in metallic? Hope you can shed some light on this. Thanks
