K & Company + Bag review

What a rejuvenating weekend it was! I was able to go out with the famille to lunch (yes, lunch!) and spend some real time at the malls. Hello, Christmas shopping 😀

Anyway, today was such a fun afternoon. I had lunch with my good friend D! *yes, the “creator” of DiVa bangles– she has tons of new stuff including spectacular brooches and these awesome micro-set bling creolla earrings for only Php 950 (perfect Christmas gift!)* at sil‘s cousin’s place *hilarious, don’t I just looove to associate myself with people who own something :D*- People’s Palace for some real yummy Thai food. I love their Thai iced tea, tom yum soup, lamb curry, and sticky rice! Hats off to Ker for the great food + service!

The rest of the afternoon was spent with DM, whom I always love to hang out with because she is just so much fun even without trying 😀 I’ve been having a hard time pinning DM down “solo” because she has all these ladies-who-lunch dates *woohoo I wanna be a woman of leisure too!!*. Off topic, for some reason, I am loving spending time with her amigas too, because of all their hilarious stories about life 🙂 Oh my I am officially a matronic lover 😀 But so what, I love spending time with her and her friends, and that’s what really matters!

Anyway, this afternoon is was just ma mere and I. We were gallivanting in the mall when I went in to one of my fave girlie feminine boutiques, K & Company (also DaphP’s fave clothing boutique), to say hello to my fave SA, Tess. DM of course went in, and zeroed in on this gorgeous handmade Swarovski crystal bag. She was so loving it, and well normally I wouldn’t go for anything too blingey *Judith Leiber isn’t my style yet*, but I too, liked the bag (it looks so much better in person than in photos– the bag looks like it’s sitting on a basket of leaves). Judith Leiber really has nothing on this bag 😀 This bag has THE bling. And it’s locally made! It’s not often that you find locally made beaded bags that have this je ne sais quois (among others, Bea Valdes bags, Joanna Lhuillier bags (love the dragonfly motif) from Firma and the Swarovski– encrusted Aranaz clutches). I think I’d like to change the handle of the bag though, but let me ponder over that. But no matter, the body of the bag, is just gorgeous and you can tell that the bag designer spent many laborious hours to complete this piece (I was told almost 3 months)! Just thought I might share this bag with you– there are still other pieces at K & Company and I believe you can order similar pieces as well. For more information about the bag, ask Tess at K & Company, Rockwell.

Now, since I didn’t blog or check out the net over the weekend, here’s coming at ya. More bag reviews 🙂

Yves Saint Laurent Y leather doctor bag. While there may have been some complaints about the leather of the YSL double, I doubt you’ll hear anything bad about this doctor bag. The bag style is beautiful– it reminded me of the Banana Republic sandhurst tote *which was an equally affordable bag for its good quality leather* as well as the LV batignolles bag. Priced at US$1,495 at Neiman Marcus, it would serve its owner well no doubt!

Jimmy Choo Ramona bag. I don’t mind the Ramona bag, although I’m not yet swooning over it. But hey, it sure looked good on RuffaGB’s shoulder when she toted it to the Imelda Collection launch. Having seen the Ramona bag in zebra print however, made me cringe. While the particular pairing of the style and the print is quite nice, I still feel iffy about carrying (or wearing) anything with animal prints. Call me unfashionable *it’s ok, I’ve been called everything, and unfashionable is one of the more acceptable ones hahaha*, but I’m just not an animal-prints kinda gal. I’d have to politely refuse– I’m not yet that desperate for attention *and DH snickers at this when I say that because he thinks I’m attention- deprived muwahaha* But then again, the bag is rather striking (it’s just not me). At US$2,450, I’d rather go with a classic black one. Available at Neiman Marcus.

Dior Large Cannage shopper. Ok thanks to one of our comment posters, I have found this bag. I like the style because it is a no-fuss no- nonsense bag. It doesn’t have busy elements like belt buckles with tassles and what- nots. Sigh, why is it the styles I like are the ones in black? *I am bag-jinxed haha*. This bag has the beautiful signature quiltwork of Dior, and while I was not really a huge fan of Dior *except for the detective bag* (I don’t own a Dior bag to date– and proud hehe), I would conceivably carry this bag. Because of its simplicity. I guess we have been inundated with all these ornate bags that it is nice to go back to the basics. Add to that, soft, soft leather! Priced at US$1,370 *not bad* at eluxury.com

Dior large pockets tote. Another Dior? Wow, and there I was, professing to friends, that I didn’t like Dior (especially the monogrammed ones). The detective bag (which is, as I’ve iterated, a style I liked) evolved into this style. Still a rather interesting bag to carry, although I reckon it’s no longer as cute as the detective bag. But at US$1,990 it’s a better buy than the croc detective bag at US$18,000! *Major gulp haha* Available at eluxury.com

Prada large leather woven frame shopper. Yikes, I am not liking this bag. As I’ve mentioned, it is rather a nice respite to go for a basic bag. This bag is its antithesis. I don’t like the mini weaves on this one, it makes me dizzy. And those handles are not working for me either. But there is one nice thing about it– the mini weaves only mean that this bag won’t scratch as easy, and it’s a nice and roomy tote. So there’s a selling point right there. It’s priced at US$1,980 and will be available at Bergdorf Goodman.

Alrighty, that’s it for the night. This baghag’s gotta rest. I’ve to update TRESOR this week. I promise by Friday the bags will all be updated. There’s a whole bunch of bags, just in time for our Christmas bonuses 😀 *WOOHOO!!!*

xx

  1. I love K and Company clothes! Didn’t want to even ask about the bead bags. I hear their expensive =o Aren’t you good friends with the owners? =)

  2. That prada bag is really ugly. Sorry but I won’t spend that much on an ugly bag. But that Saint laurent bag is delectable

  3. Hi Mrs. T,

Like you, Tes is my favorite SA as well…though to me she’s also a dearly beloved old (literally and figuratively..hehe) friend from way, way, waaaay back. I actually owe her quite a lot…I wouldn’t have met YOU-know-who (a kindred spirit if I may say so..hehe) if it weren’t for dear old Tes…Btw, I hope to see YOU-know-who and Tes next week (I’m soooo looking forward to it)…Take Care Mrs. T.

  4. MG: I am sorta my friend’s drop off point lately and she sent me a few of the creola earrings. Get in touch with me if you are interested in them. They’re real nice and I’m sooo loving mine 😀

ms.versace earring: I must admit that the ramona zebra print is growing on me. Perhaps my attention- deprived self is screaming for this bag already 😀

anonymous: Girl, leave a nickname or something or I can’t address you well 🙂 And yeah I love Tess. She has friends in high places and she is still so real and humble! 🙂

loida: Woohoo early pressie for yourself? 😀

    R. Dresnage: I agree. I don’t like that Prada bag too.

wunshue: K&Co owners and DH+I have mutual friends– we became friends because of the relationship with our other friends. I’d love to see them more often though (dinner long overdue!)– They’re a great couple and I know they’re food lovers like me 😀
