Inquirer BooBoo? A-Z of Fashion’s Big HERMES faux pas!

I was sent photos of the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Lifestyle section dated July 21, 2006. There was a section on Fashion about the A-Z Fashionology and there were bag photos. DS thought I’d wanna see it. (Heck of course I would!)

On letter B was, well, an Hermes Birkin. Of course we baghags all know that B stands for Birkin *muwahaha and don’t deny it!!* The photo that corresponds to the letter “looks” like the real Hermes birkin (although I have never seen a tag like that before, and my birkin didn’t come with one). But from the looks of the bag (bag alone– not the tag), it seems legit.

So now here’s the sticky part. On the letter K-– there it was. A sore sticking right out of the page. K stands for Kelly. As in the Hermes Kelly. But What The hell-y-o is that bag?!?! It’s a FAKE HERMES KELLY!!! *Shock*

The former Hollywood star-turned- Monegasque Princess Grace Kelly most certainly did NOT carry a hideous looking bag like that. That bag on that page is a monstrosity. It is atrocious!!! *Gag big time*. And I can’t speak for Hermes here, but I betcha they’d balk at that photo when they see it. It’s just sooo wrong to see that photo next to the caption “Hermes’ iconic 50s purse”. It is misleading.

The writer could’ve just emailed me to ask for photos of an Hermes Kelly. I would’ve gladly given it sans credit too, as long as I get asked. Tsk. Too bad. I guess perhaps the lifestyle fashion editor failed to “edit” this whole section before it went to the press. That’s bad 🙁

I just hope that the readers of that article won’t go looking for a Kelly that looks like THAT. What’s worse is, a website is credited for that photo. That photo and caption is just very misleading. Honestly I can only hope and pray that no one gets deceived. Hags, spread the word!

More about HK later. This is pretty urgent not to be blogged about!

  3. encountered a terrible assistant at prada rustans this morning…she was all bitchy and even rolled her eyes. god i wanted to kill her, she was fixing the merchandise and as soon as she saw us she acted all high and mighty…bia_tch!
just to let you know and i just wanted to rant to a fellow bag hag. i think her names —- vazquez…not sure.

  4. what else is new? these employees think they are so high and mighty when in fact they should be reminded that they are just EMPLOYEES and you are the one spending the money. there is one B__ in tod’s too. even when you’re paying for 2 pairs of regular priced shoes she acts like she you don’t deserve the time of day. you don’t want to be mean but sometimes you really have to show your authority to them. earth to salespeople…remember who you are and who has the money. ugh.

  5. The Tag
As far as I know, and my aunt works at the George V boutique, Hermès don’t put Tags on bags

  6. i’ve always encountered the best sales associates in prada greenbelt and gucci! super accomodating and friendly. LV is okay din but since i look really young they’re not all over me which is correct din naman. the other’s are so-so. But yeah, prada rustan’s SA’s are the least in my list. Some of them there are kinda ignorant pa about the bags. Pero the best talaga prada greenbelt imho. super nice SA’s so kudos to them!

  7. Just remember, ladies, shop assistants might act high and mighty, but the 64-million-dollar-question is…why? They are slaving away in a f***ing SHOP. They’re there to serve you. SHRUG.

  8. Hi there! I likewise had a not so nice experience at Louis Vuitton Costa Mesa. The SA’s name is Josh. he became nice lang when I bought something.

My LV SA at Fashion Valley, SD Danika is a darling!!!!!!!!!!!!

SA Megan at Bottega Costa Mesa is also super nice. Intelligent (Space Engineer student) too!
