I had her, but she slipped away…

To a dear diehard Hermes baghag reading this blog,

During that overnight stay in Paris, I saw the most incredible bag at Hermes. Au contraire, it was not a Crocodile birkin with diamonds. It was not even a purple chevre birkin or a rose shocking birkin. I have seen all those, lusted real bad for them, but alas, did not have the money to buy them  hahaha (because they were expensivo *especially the latter 2 which are just made of regular leather, at black market prices*)

But I definitely shrieked in delight when I saw *THIS* on the Hermes “floor”.

I didn’t think I’d see a bag like this on Hermes boutique shelves, but there it was. Unmistakably…

CYCLAMEN!!!

I had asked to see her. She was a 40cm. Quite big, but it didn’t matter. It was a kelly 40cm, not a birkin 40cm (which would’ve been way too big– unless you’re Kimora Lee Simmons, who pulls off carrying a 40cm birkin very nicely).

She is made of epsom leather and had gold hardware, a rarity in Hermes kelly and Hermes birkin bags of late.

(In the background, were some dark colored 40cm birkins)

I had her in my hands. I knew I was going to adopt her. Even if it meant I’d be broke and have to sell my seasons- old Louis Vuitton pink satin cabas, along with my unused Chanel bag. *Big gulp* I was already doing mental calculations of how much I will need to earn to pay for this new bag. I was already thinking of selling off my wardrobe and my shoes just to have this bag. (I know, I know, all that I was willing to do, for a bag? YES!!)

Until the vendeuse serving me realized the bag was actually a preorder by another client who had waited 2 years for it. TWO YEARS. *shudders* The vendeuse was baffled that this bag was brought out onto the floor. I could see her seething (like someone on the “inside” was going to “get it” after I left).

I knew it was too good to be true! *Stomps feet* I knew it!!!! Actually, I was really surprised to find the bag on the boutique shelf because 1. the cyclamen color has been long discontinued, 2. a 40cm in cyclamen with GOLD hardware has got to be a special order. Can’t be anything else.

If I had actually gone with a different sales associate, this bag would’ve been sold to me. I would’ve been the proud and broke beaming new owner of this Hermes cyclamen epsom 40cm kelly with gold hardware.

But as with many other things in life, such was a fate not written in the stars.

I had to say goodbye to this bag. She was really beautiful. I couldn’t resist taking those photos of the bag as a reminder that sometimes, the good things do “slip away.”

I walked away without a bag, but look closely and you’ll see in that same photo what went home with me 🙂
My new Pepto- Bismol/ Strawberry milkshake color combined with gris tourterelle Dogon wallet. I took her home 🙂 She’ll be waiting “in the wings” for me to use her 😀
*So obviously, I had to say goodbye to my other yet- unused dogon wallet (*ugh* which I had pre-ordered and waited for  a looooong time awhile back in the U.S.) that I’ve been saving…

Gawd I’m really such a hoarder! But oye, at least I know how to let go– remember my rule? Always let one go when one new one comes in :D*

Ahhh, Hermes. Thank you for the cyclamen memories… I guess I’ll have to try my luck at waiting for one someday… *BIG sigh* But then again,  the bag gods know I don’t really need a new bag right now. I’m happy with my *cough* inventory 😉
But peeps, can I know what would you have done if you are already holding THE bag you want in your hands, and suddenly you were told that the bag can’t be sold to you because it was a preorder and already belongs to someone else? Would you 1. Insist on having the bag sold to you anyway, *aka exercise your consumer rights hahahaha*  2. Return the bag to the sales associate obediently *and just drool over the bag before it gets stored for the owner* 3. Beg the sales associate to sell the bag to you because the original owner won’t know the order arrived anyway?

I’d love to hear what you peeps have to say 🙂

P.S. Re: Christmas party, THANK YOU peeps (you know who u are) for volunteering. I shall be contacting you all sometime tomorrow. It has been a pretty hectic few days but I’m sure like everyone else, I’ll get by 🙂  Tomorrow, we are going to Fabella to distribute goodies for the NICU moms. Hopefully this will also give me the chance to talk to the doctors there about our donor contribution (for equipment).

P.P.S. Thank you to : TishaB, DollyC, NinaC for the Christmas pressies 🙂 I really appreciate that you remembered me this season! 🙂

Today is the Feast of the Immaculate Concepcion, by the way 🙂

  1. Mrs T. – that is cyclamen? I thought cyclamen was more of a purple color with pink undertones? The photo looks like it’s rouge. But still, very beautiful! Thanks for sharing

  2. hmmm… if i were in a bratty mood, i’d probably argue with the SA — “Then what is it doing out here on display?!” Hehehe. But if it was really an honest mistake, then I’d have no choice but to return it. Kawawa din the client who waited patiently 2 years for it… In the meantime, could you just put your name on a new waitlist? 🙂

P.S. Question on the Chanel jumbo caviar flap please… Do the ‘diamonds’ eventually get creases after repeated use/opening and re-opening of the flap? Thanks 🙂

  3. I will obediently return it hahaha!

I know no amount of prodding will convince the SA to sell it to me. I have done that in LV(convince the SA to sell the coveted reserved item) but I doubt in Hermes

  4. I would go on my knees and BEG the S.A for THE bag. I’ll get teary eyed pa if s/he wants. I’ll do everything. I Promise! Cartwheels? dance on a pole? do backflips? eat/do something exotic? One night stand?? *ewwww* T.M.I.. LOL (Hey, desperate times calls for desperate measures!, That is, if I ever go THAT desperate.)

That has got to be THE most beautiful Kelly I’ve evr seen. Have you seen any shoulder Kelly or Birkin too? with matching Diamond

  5. That Hermes Kelly is g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s! No words can describe it, really! It’s a beauty! 🙂 My heart ached.. and the wallet, looks yummy! 😉 You have a great taste for bags/wallet. (Hence, ahem *Luxe Specialist*, ahem)

As for your question Mrs.T, I haven’t experienced that yet. Honestly, I don’t know what I’ll do if that happens. Maybe I won’t insist on buying it but I’d probably obsessed about it til I get sawa and move on obsessing on another bag. LOL!

  6. hello Mrs T,

i superrr enjoyed this part .. and really got my eyes on the bags u showed… can we get that bag? hehehe.. i wish i could just leave now for Paris.. much nice colors .. and remembered what the SA told me that time we were in Paris.. December is a nice time to get good colors of Hermes…

if i was there, i would go for NUMBER 3…

    take care!

    doc divine

  7. Hi, have you read Bringing Home the Birkin by Micheal Tonello? It’s a very entertaining read 🙂 I really love your posts, I texted you around a week ago re: our Charmed Life accessories but I’ve just been too busy with work to drop off your customized bracelet in Accessory Lab 🙂

  8. Major drool for that Kelly Mrs. T! It is soooo pretty!! And so is your new wallet. Congratulations! =)

  9. it was not really meant for you. it would be unfair to the real owner, having to wait for 2 years and you only saw it for a few minutes? the sales assoc will get into trouble as well, etc. and that whole domino effect will ensue. maybe you’ll get something better in return. it may not always be in the form of a bag though.

    ps
do you take pictures discreetly? i’ve been wanting to take pics of things inside a store. how do you do it?

  10. It must have been hard leaving that bag. It’s BEAUTIFUL! The color with the gold hardware is exquisite. You would have been the envy of every Hermes fanatic. Can’t imagine what it will look like in reality.
Well to answer your question, I would probably did both numbers 1 and 3. I use my instinct when I buy a bag. I want the bag to “call” to me when I see it. Whenever I see that kind of bag, I do whatever it takes for me to have it. I know it sounds selfish but it is how it works.

  11. @Mary: Oh gawd I was in pain when I left H. I was really heartbroken! That bag did call me. BIG time. *Sigh*. 🙁

@ Ano ni moose: Hehehe cute name. Yeah I guess it’s really not meant for me 🙁 Regarding picture- taking, I just take the photos. No need to “hide”.

@ Anon: That bag was gorgeous indeed. Thanks 🙂 I love the wallet but I think it’ll be kept 😉 *hoarder*

@ Coley: Hey Coley, thanks! I have read the book. It was an interesting one- time read. But I think those techniques on how to get a birkin just don’t really work in H hahaha.

@ Doc D: Uyy let’s go together next time hahahaha 😀

@ Appledumplings: hahaha thank yew 🙂 By the way, Im meeting with Rea of Moms for Moms tomorrow so I can get more details for us about the Christmas party on December 12. Will get in touch w u 😉

@ PBB: I know, I would’ve begged and groveled but alas, the bag still isn’t going to me. I’ll get in touch w you tomorrow re: volunteering 🙂 Will know what we need tomorrow after my mtg with Rea 🙂

@ Stalk buyer: LOL That’s a good idea! Hahahaha

@ MissM: Yep it’s a green birkin. The kelly was the real stunner! 🙂

@ Missy: I am so excited for you!!!

@ CHIBS: Hahahaha sorrrrryy I was actually thinking of you when I saw the Cyclamen kelly!

@ Browneyedgirl: LOL I am bratty but I guess I behaved that day (I wasn’t PMSing hahahaha). And yes, eventually they do get creases but it will take a long time for that to happen 🙂

@ rockmyworld3: Yeah I know, that’s exactly what I did, return *SOB*. Coz I know it wouldn’t be fair to the one who ordered it too 😀 Oh well, it was nice to have seen that bag in real life 🙂 Like I said, thanks H, for the memories. Hahahaha

  12. Hi Mrs. T!

I was not sure if you were the one who called this afternoon! If it was you, I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to answer. I hope to hear from you soon. 🙂

  13. The bag looks like Bougainvillea not Cyclamen.
Really enjoying reading through your blog, esp the food and travel posts!
