Going on the “Jessica Soho Reports” Show

A day or two ago, I got a call from Ivy at GMA 7. They were hoping to interview a Hermes birkin “collector” and an old friend Tim Yap thought I would be up to the task *tsk, Tiiiiim!! Scowls! hahaha*. What Tim doesn’t know is, I’m NOT a birkin collector– I never was! Although I can’t deny that I WISHED I was a collector, but gawd, I don’t even have a birkin “collection” worth showing! Plus, I’d be doing SERIOUS injustice to the true collectors by claiming to be one! *poser hahaha*  So I politely declined.
A day later though, I get the same call from GMA7 asking if I’d be willing to speak as a bag resource person. GMA 7 also interviewed Style Bible’s Isha Andaya on the same subject matter 🙂

So, I agreed (the producers of Jessica Soho Reports were really polite people who asked me real nicely :D). They were so nice that they even moved their shoot schedules around to accommodate me (I was flying out again this week and couldn’t work with their available shoot schedule, so they happily moved theirs). The segment which Isha and I shall be appearing in, will be all about  bags. Hermes birkins to be exact. And they asked me to share some general tips with viewers on how to determine if a Hermes birkin is authentic or is counterfeit.

They brought a FAKE Hermes birkin with them. Their producer purchased it in Divisoria for Php 900 *shock, horrors* Hahaha, but it was for “research” and I hope they dispose of it after– and you’ll see why shortly. The assistant told me that the bag was originally priced at Php 1,800 *for a piece of crap, really!!* and the seller managed to slash 50% off (again, you’ll see how shoddy the bag is– at Php 900, it’s a ripoff! hahaha).

Anyway, I just want to share some photos from our shoot. The team who went to see me were Arianne Betita, Leo Marzan, and Dennis Romero *To the team and to Ivy whom I never got a chance to meet yet, thanks guys :)*
(Oh and before I forget to mention, I really looked like an old hag at the shoot *so don’t be surprised hahaha* because I was running around like a headless chicken that day, going from one meeting to another! Craaazy day!!!)
Baghags, I present to you, the real Hermes birkin vs their counterfeit birkin.
I was horrified. Mortified. *Look at the left part of the photo* What was that thing on the handles and on the flap part of the bag?!?!?!
*Dies* The “flap” has a ZIPPER! And you can unzip it and the flap becomes… a useless “dangling” piece of the bag hahahaha. And please, take a closer look at the handles of the bag. Do you see strips of cloth hanging out of that rolled pleather handle? OMG, those are from rags that get sold for Php 5 a piece in the market 🙂 *Hahahahaha* and they used those rags to stuff the handles!!!
The interior of the fake *I can’t even bring myself to use the brand’s name on this bag hahahaha*
Lined in fabric with the print of the brand!!! It was hilarious. We all couldn’t stop laughing at the shoddy workmanship of the Php 900 bag. The words “coffin lining” were thrown around when it came to describing the fake bag’s interiors *hahahaha*.  Gawd, there are non-designer brand bags out there that are priced Php 900 and even those aren’t as crappy as this one!! But you have to admit, this was a really crappy fake!! (And the darned thing was falling apart each time we held it!!! hahahaha)
Now, HERE’S the real birkin!
Dennis (in orange) and Leo were taking shots of the fake designer bag. I had to laugh at Dennis’ witty comments about the fake bag 😀
Arianne takes photos of the real deal.
The segment will air over the weekend while I’m away. Soooo, I hope I don’t embarrass myself *ok, I usually do when I go on-cam, sooo there. Hahaha*. I had to speak straight Tagalog, so I hope no one notices the umms and ahhhs… Tsk 🙂
Anyway if you do get to watch it, enjoy it– and more importantly, I hope you learn something from it 🙂

  1. Ooohhhh, I sooo want to watch this Mrs. T.! I need to check though with the GMA TV guide/schedule when they’d actually show that episode where I’m at. I’m sure you did great! You’re so humble about your bag “collection”. If I had all of your bags, I’d probably be sooo yabang! Hahaha! Kidding!

hoping to be able to catch this on TV,

    May-hem

  2. grabe, just a look at that fake and it’s as obvious as the sky is as blue. they should have bought a grade a-replica like those being sold in greenhills. sometimes when i see them in the tiangge, it’s so hard to tell the difference because they are mirror images talaga of the real one. that would have been interesting!

  3. it would have been more interesting if the real one had been compared to a good quality fake. 🙂 that fake one was just sad looking.

  4. hi, i’d rather use a nondescript bag/accessory/apparel than use a fake one. IMHO, by using a knock off, you want to make it appear that you are using the real thing when you actually can’t afford to buy it. on the other hand, it might be that the buyer also didn’t know that what she bought is a fake

  5. yea.. you should buy the class A fake ones so it will really look like the real one. that fake one is a class C type. 🙂

  6. @dadang: Super nice to meet you too 🙂

@Anon: LOL GMA didn’t have the budget to buy the class A fakes, but I was again just as disapproving that they bought a fake. It was really shoddy too for an expensive fake LOL

@rain71: totally agree with you on both accounts

    @Anon: MY thoughts exactly!!! LOL!!

@May-Hem: Hah! thing is, i really don’t have a “collection”!! Let me know your feedback when you see it coz I won’t be in town. 🙂

@freshmess: LOL exactly, sad looking fake! Im not sure if they will, we’ll see 🙂

    xx

  7. The class-a fakes would be much more interesting to watch no? anyway, congrats! A new TV show for Mrs.T perhaps?

  8. Just watched the segment on Jessica Soho show, i thought u were a Chua? They said Chan, though… Anyways, i didn’t know there is a P60K Hermes bag ?? Hmmm…

  9. It would have been better if they compared it naman to a good fake copy, the Class AAAA (whatever ekk ekk that is). That fake one was just screaming F.A.K.E
That way people get educated properly & absolutely no point in buying designer fake when you cant afford the real stuff.
Wish i can watch this show… please post video if you can 🙂

  10. that was terrible fact checking on the part of the show. Wrong name mentioned and to top it off- they printed your misspelled name again.

  11. What the heck! They got your name wrong! What kind of tv show that claims to be backed by legitimate news department gets details as simple as a name wrong! Come on! If this happened to me, i’d be insulted

  12. ivy: they messed up my name Hahahaha!! Anyway the producer called to apologize profusely. Bottom line for me, I wasn’t the one who committed the mistake Hahaha. so it wasn’t my bootie on the line.

And yeah It was a very baaaad fake! Plus yes, I WAS haggard that day 🙂 *actually I look tired all the time Hahaha*

  13. hi mrs t, same comment here. i was able to watch your segment (i had to check what time the show airs) and i had an almost automatic reaction when they mentioned your name. thought bubble ko…chua, hindi chan. ano ba yan. hehe.

  14. @ricegirl lol sorry i didnt look like much

@cheryll lol that was lousy research indeed. The funny thing is, they really didn’t double check names before they edited the story. If that was a foreign news network, it would’ve been a different story 😀

  15. i caught that episode of Jessica Soho last night here in Dubai 🙂
how surprising they got your name wrong! looks like they aired before editing…haha! and the fake they used, tsk tsk, super obvious na knock off.
